I have to tell you that your videos are excellent. I visited Ecuador a few years ago and loved it. Beautiful and hospitable country. I have been thinking about leaving the USA for a while. I feel like the USA is purely about money. I have been skeptical about the medical care outside the USA. I try to be on top of my health. You answered a lot of my questions! Please keep it coming! 🇪🇨
I am so excited I found your video...looking forward to viewing your other videos. I have psoriasis and am anxious with the cost of treatment (medication) for psoriasis in Ecuador. Any idea how I could find out the costs and availability? I know it is very expensive in U.S. Do you have IESS or private insurance?
Hi Nicole! Thank you sm and for watching. I am sure there are paraplegics here, with that being said I would not say Manta is very wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, there are some sidewalks that are quite uneven, inconsistent, and not paved well. But I am not disabled in that way so there are probably perspectives and insights I am missing. I hope this helped in some way.
Eye care: In a regular barrio optica (neighborhood eye clinic) I’ve gotten a pair of backup glasses (specific to my prescription, different and quite strong for both eyes) for $25 without insurance. Contacts: I went to a more upscale shop (los Andes) at the mall, brought my cases and just paid up front for two boxes, $100. Roughly same price as USA, but, (in Massachusetts) we need a prescription in hand which comes from a contact lens fitting (another $100). Screw US capitalist healthcare
Doctors listen to patients more because they wont make you pay for lab exams to discard posible illness. They'll focus on you that's why sometimes I tell them about my family, work or situations in the past. People cant afford tests or exams if doctors can figure out of what you have by listening or checking. Poor people dont have money for expensive treatments or medicines doctors know this reality and sometimes recommend cheaper but less effectives options and let you take the risk. Or give a prescription you can take over and over for every time your symptons apear because some patiens dont have for the visit. They wont be afraid of a potential sue they are doing their best. And all doctors know the basic of nutrition so that they ll tell you what to eat or stop eating to reduce the symptons. But there are fake doctors too. However, expats are not at risk but poor ecuadorians are.
I know that this video is about health care and this is great information...I would like to know about Ecuadorian Spanish classes that are available to expats.
I did not have residency at any point when I got insurance or went to doctors. I did all of the following, including getting insurance without residency.
A couple of things .... 1) Healthcare in EC is only free to certain peopl. IESS, the EC run healthcare system here costs $70 a month (today). 2) Healthcare is available to everyone in the US. The catch is you can't afford it. Insanely high deductibles, ever increasing copays and ever decreasing coverages make healthcare in the US the #1 reason people file for bankruptcy. 3) The law in the US says that if you present yourself in an ER with an i jury (say, broken arm), they have to fix it. And the sock you with a very high bill when you leave.
I'm glad that you are enjoying your stay in my homend country...I'm considering taking a trip to Cuenca soon..I really appreciate your info on health care.....I enjoy your videos and look forward for you to get myriad follwers....Hope to see your progress....one question..?can you get Ambien over where you are at.Thank You
Hey! Thank you for watching and for the good wishes! Sending you good vibes on your trip! And I unfortunately don't have any information about that medicine. I hope to keep growing my channel also! (:
Are the house visits normal or because of covid. I don't recall did you mention your healthcare cost monthly? And what percent is reimbursed from payment? Great down to earth videos. You are like a coworker talking at lunchbreak about "Life". Don't change your format. Thanks for sharing. Sam
Thank you! If you want to support me and my channel the best would be through pay pal. Here is the link if you would like to support: paypal.me/aminahking?locale.x=en_US
@@AmisAdventures De nada Aminah 🙂👍🏾Question, will you in the future have more interviews with the local afro- ecuadorians, visits to their neighborhoods, their different businesses, etc, etc? 🤔
Good information 👏🏾👏🏾🙂👍🏾 What are the names of a couple private health insurance companies ? I want to do some research to find out what the cut off age is for insuring someone. Another question I would have with the private insurers is which one accepts people with pre- existing medical issues and what is the extra costs? 🤔
The insurance I am most knowledgeable of is Saludsa, but I don't feel comfortable recommending insurance here. Its very different here compared to the US. I also am not sure about the pre existing conditions. I think there may be information or people that can help on some of the Ecuador expat Facebook groups. Please let me know if you have any other questions. (:
Hi Aminah, Am enjoying your videos, thank you. Hoping you might add a little info on this one. Is there another way to contact Kimberly other than Facebook. I'm Facebook allergic. :-) Also, please, where is Arbolab located. Thinking I might save if I go to them first. Thanks!

Hi beautiful, what city did you originally come from??and I’m jealous you went to lunch with that last video.. that was me in that guy’s place..can I take you out to dinner?? When I hit manta, in April.. ?
I was born in Ecuador, You said Health Care is not accessible in the USA that is a lie...I live in the USA I have never had a problem in the USA getting healthcare. As a Hispanic in the USA I have not complains about how I have being treated when I had my two children.
Im so glad to hear that you have had a great experience. Thats amazing to get great healthcare. I along with many others I know do not have the same experience but that doesn't take away from yours.
i've lived in Ecuador and public healthcare in Ecuador is very affordable and private healthcare in ecuador is way cheaper and as good as in the US. US healthcare system is a rip off!
Dear sis, I’m trying to friend you on Facebook and can’t find you. Can you accept my friend request, I would love to talk with you on messenger . Thanks

Hi Aminah, I love your videos. Can you access healthcare if you are only in the country for 3 months? Do you
need to have residency first?
I did not have residency at any point when I got insurance or went to doctors. I did all of the following, including getting insurance without residency.
spot on with Doctor visits in US. Very rushed. Like they have a set time to spend on you because they are so booked.
Yes, and I definitely do not like that. Thank you for watching.
That was great help, thank you.

One more thing...doctors in EC make house calls.
if it's not affordable it's not available...come on
Have you done a video on the residency process or visa process?
I have not, I do have some footage of a video I did when I got a visa extension. I should edit that and put it up 🤔☺️ Thank you for watching.

Good Video 👍 Love you 😘
Hello Aminah, I do hope you feel the best in Manta Ecuador
What kind of insurance carriers do the have in Ecuador?
Nice video but the background music should not be in it...
Thank you for your feedback and will definitely work on it for future videos!
How can someone offer support to you with your stay in Manta Ecuador and or support your channel? Hmm 🤔... Through PayPal?? ( hint, hint 😁)

70%, I have as of now had an interesting experience with insurance which is why I did not talk about it much.
How is to date an Ecuadorian guy?
I am not sure, I have not dated anyone here. Thank you for asking and for watching.

And if you live in rural areas, there is no healthcare at all.
The hand waving is contrived and distracting. Perhaps take a course in video production?
thank you for watching
