What I think happened in the 2110's: Windows 42 was released in 2114 and 42.1 released in 2115, then Microsoft was busy working on Windows 43 during the year it was supposed to release in, which was 2117, but since they weren't finished with it, they decided to break the 3-year release cycle temporarily by delaying Windows 43 to 2118, then they decided they liked making a ".1" version of Windows 42 so they make Windows 43.1 in 2119.
