Great review. I'm receiving my tiny2x tomorrow so I can't care. I hope you realize that you can get, at a dollar store or such, a miniature carabiner and put it on the pump.
Yes i have loads of lightweight carabiners and have no choice but to use them as the x2 without them won't hang unless you have tent hooks rather than loops. Just adds unnecessary bullk and hangs even lower than it needs to be which drives me mad as I need as much head height as possible. If all tent manufacturers just put hooks rather than loops in their tents it would make life easier.
Great review of another great product from Flextail. I have the Max Pump 2 plus for our car camping trips (I agree with you, a bit to heavy for a backpacking trip) and the original Tiny Pump X when I want something more lightweight. Both excellent pieces of kit, and this looks like it's a nice addition to their range. Thanks for sharing.
Great NBS review. I'd struggle to buy the Max Pump 2 primarily because I can just fill up my long wide tensor pad in about a minute just using the air sack that comes with it. Being able to do that in 25 seconds with the 3 and reduce the need for a light, makes it worth the weight to me!
Ots a really good middle ground between the max 2 and tiny x2 for sure. I'm going to use it going forward as my main go to. I never liked the zero they made, just didn't make sense but they've hit the nail on the head with this one.
I did buy the 5.0 pump last week (with the storage box 🙄). And last night bought the headstock with a 3pk of bigger batteries. I like their kit but the three week wait is a pain in the back door. Loved this review btw. 👍🏼
The speed of inflation for me doesn't matter but if they could continue in trying to make them quieter would be great. Wild camping in itself is about being discreet and there is nothing worse than announcing your location with a loud electric pump. I have the flextail tiny pump but have reverted back to pump sacks as they are quieter and quicker than my tiny pump.
Nice design and tripod mount is a good addition. I really like my Max Pump 2 plus which has made a huge difference to pumping up the Exped Megamat duo and just as important if not more deflating it. Very handy as fire bellows as well. Max pump 3 doesn’t act as a power bank either.
No power bank. But I had the max pump 2 and found it too big and heavy for wild camping. This I think is a great mid way option and just so fast with a great light too.
Super vid. Reviewers always show these devices blowing things up, but I'd be interested to see how these devices work in vacuum mode deflating a clothes vacuum bag too. Any chance of seeing that comparison?
@RetirementVille Thanks buddy. they've got videos on their websites doing that but I'd have to buy bags to do the video then never use them again so I probably wouldn't tbh
Done some research and to answer my own question about vacuum bags... The average person can pull about 4kPa using lungs alone, so just squish the air out of a vacuum bag by hand and suck the rest out with your lungs - save yourself the money if you want it for vacuum bags. I've just tried it and it works just fine and I followed up with a food vacuum pump, which did evacuate a little more air but not that you'd really notice. If necessary, you can draw a much bigger vacuum with your mouth.
Looking good, considerably quicker , more comparable to the Max pump pro 2 or Max pump plus 2 which both have much bigger batteries at 3600mah / 4800mah respectively compared to 1950mah and have the very useful battery banks super handy Lots of choices now , Flextail just dominating 👊
Utterly bewildered as to why it matters how long it takes to pump up an mattress. It is the least most important issue when When would most people be using a lamp in a tent for 49 hours. I have the original Flextail mini. I use it to blow up my mat which it does really well. I have a lantern which is so much better than this, which hangs in my tent. For the majority not YTubers they don't need a tripod. How fast does it boil water? Wait for the next version...
If it's quick it means less noise and lasts longer. Same as the light lasting several nights if you're multi day hiking. And it also hangs like a Lantern so provides two jobs for one item. Just cos it's not for you doesn't make it wrong mate. You've got a pump and a Lantern. Most people would says get the newer one that does both as you're mad to carry two items when one can do it. 🤷🏼♂️ And the fact it has a tripod means you can use it outside your tent on a nice evening rather than leaving your Lantern on the floor rolling around.
Couldn’t resist.. I have the original Tiny X but for some reason it doesn’t seem to get on with my Exped pad and struggles, showing me a low battery light straight away. Disconnected, it’s fine. Hopefully this one will work better, and the light looks a lot better as well. I’m not keen on the original’s very harsh white.
I reckon this one knocks the x2 out completely other than on weight and size and even then it's only slightly larger and heavier. I had the max pump 2 as well and this is way better. 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper Errr well, I’m still at the 70L Osprey and way too much stuff stage anyway, so doubt I’d notice a difference of a mouthful of water’s weight 😂
@odlanorirom it has several adapters so will depend on what you need for your own tent or kayak. You'd have to check but you can also buy others to link to it.
It's plenty powerful so should work but I don't have any or habw the need for them so couldn't tell really. It is designed for those as well so should be fine.
@Blingem14 they seem to have the same 5kpa pressure so may be the same. They show it being used on vacuum storage bags and supply a threaded nozzle for them so not sure why it wouldn't work. I suppose it depends if your shrinking food bags or clothing 🤷🏼♂️
Very professional review Mike. I like the pump, especially the volume as I do a lot of packraft blowing. The design is cool too, looks like a EPIRB. A cover over tge usb port would be desirable though. Mike, off piste, I am a bit of a watch fan, what is yours, looks like an omega watch face with sector bracelet?
@GEORGIOS-n4j I don't think it would hit the pressure needed for a SUP. If you use my link you can click on SUP pumps and you should be able to use my discount code as well 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper to be honest mate, didn’t realise how good it was till I saw your video. I love that reduced power mode , mats are very easily over inflated and this will reduce that.
So this may mean we wait until next year and be blown away? Pun intended. It’s not ultralight but I don’t care. Anything to make this 72 year old life easier done! Heck, I’ll take my 500 gram chair right along with it.
I don't see the point in either pump. The Exped Schnozzle pumpbags that come with my goose down air mats are ultra light, easily packable, don't need charging, and above all, silent. 😉
Fir the sake of a few grams, it's a lot easier and quicker than using a pump sack so when these first came out they became very popular and now these are more powerful versions to improve their uses. Not for everyone but incredibly popular as a multi use tool. Inflate mat, use as Lantern, stoke a fire, deflate mat.
I'm more a fan of using an air sack that comes with most good quality pads these days than just lungs and also in the Winter adding moisture from breathing in to it isn't the best.
