How many singers give up their careers to care for their sick child, when the father leaves, and she makes a comes back. What an outstanding woman, and an outstanding talent!!
She had the talent. Her voice. The way she can change Octaves is incredible. She was so incredible! I love hearing her. She was a one woman wonder! Love you Phoebe!!♥️
She loved her Valerie so much, she couldn’t cope without her, she was one of my favorite female vocalists and when she decided to step back from fame to care for her disabled baby girl ❤
I’m 70 yrs old, and fell in love with Phoebe’s music at the age of 19 or 20, and have been listening to her belting out the lyrics to BLUES AT ITS BEST songs (AT LAST), and numerous other blusie songs that strangely enuf comforted me during some of the most troubled, near death, difficult time’s of my personal life… Phoebe wasn’t aware of it, but she was right there with me singing my blues away with her passionate voice, and her loving spirit…what’s not to LOVE?!At Last is one that I translate it as my praise, and worship song to my Lord, and Saviour, Jesus Christ for THE Revelation of saving my life repeatedly to get me to the time God planning to reveal to me that He saved my soul years before, when “AT LAST” realizing Jesus was always there by my side, patiently waiting for me to finally KNOW how MUCH God loves me.💞🙏🏻☦️🕊
Okay, I'm man enough to admit it: The last 45 seconds of that song sent a shiver through me and brought me tears. RIP Phoebe, your talent will forever be appreciated.
The one and only ! Larry DeBari. No one will ever sound like Larry. May you RIP brother as one of the best guitarists ever and never to be forgotten brother...
Wow her voice is priceless... She is what a real singer represents...y'all new age youngsters need to take notes on how a real soulful singer sounds like...Miss you Phoebe Snow One Love
Had the honor and joy of seeing her in CT less than 1 year before she was gone. What a remarkable talent. She wasn't feeling well but her musicianship was just impeccable and she electrified the audience with this and many other song. Rest in peace with your dear Valerie,
All you youngsters listening to Beyonce and others singing this Etta James classic owe it to yourselves to give a good listen to Phoebe Snow's rendition. This video has ridiculously low views...
Who cares if it has ridiculously low views, we know that the majority, the fools never recognise true gems and I think thats what adds to their allure and uniqueness. If millions of peeps appreciate and watch the likes of Miss Snow, and gets a kazillion views, then the non talents will try to replicate and nek minit(sorry its a kiwi slang we use all the time)its mainstream.....nah Ive always preferred the smaller more intimate performances......but I do know where you're coming from...peace, light and paua fritters V
PHOEBE IS A GENIOUS. ALWAYS. I'VE NEVER HEARD HER SING ANY THING BUT DIAMONDS COME FROM HER . FROM THE FIRST TIME I SAW HER HER IN PERSON IN A SMALL VENUE IN JERSEY, I'M A JERSEY GIRL TOO , I HEARD HER ALL JEWISH GIRL VOICE; I WAS PARALYZED, AS TEARS FLOWED DOWN MY CHEEKS AT THE SACREDNESS AT IT AT ALL!!! THE SAME THING HAPPENS ALL THE TIME SINCE. I ADORE HER, AND KNOW EVERY WORD TO ALL HER SONGS. MISS YOU, PHOEBE. THOUGH I YOU'RE STILL IN OUR SPACE DAILY. AND, BYE BYE, VALERIE ROSE, . ♡♡♡ Your soul sister, Jude
In around 1992 she came to the Natick High school in Massachusetts and was simply amazing. Maybe 100 people and she talked with the crowd and it was just special.
Such an amazing woman.........you are right, very few could hold a candle to Miss Snow. I listened to you and loved your voice and music sooooooo much! I could listen 24/7 to your awesomeness! There is NO ONE like you, so many people miss you.
I first heard Poetry Man, on the radio as a young girl and from there on I began to seek more music, by this incredible songstress. I loved everything she ever sang. I only wish she could've produced more because she was so gifted.
As a youngster, I was Filled with Deep purple, King Crimson,Frank Zappa...Ect....My Big Brother and Brother-in-Law were both tough Allman brother,Humble Pie Lovers....Phoebe's first album was Always on in my house right in the middle of all that...we all love her....This Clip is amazing along with the story of her Daughter...RIP Lady you will always be remembered in My House
Phoebe Snow was noted tonight during the 54th Grammy Awards ceremony. I felt obligated to watch a performance of hers somehow. Thanks for supplying this, a really unique and heartfelt rendition.
First time I listen to her singing. All comments praised her. But looks like I am from an earth hole or so, that I had left my ears for music in the tunnel. Could not have patience to listen this again.
Phoebe was the best composer and singer! her compositions are just as good as this one she sings (which she does a fantastic version of). She got forgotten because just as her career took off she faced the birth of severely disabled daughter and divorce. She chose to avoid institutionaizing her daughter, who died aged 30. Phoebe died of cancer a few years later. totally heroic plus brilliant. Her album with All Over and Two Fisted Love has one amazing track after another and the singing, her compositions and arrangements are outstanding. She picks a few great songs to cover, but her originals actually are just as good if not better than any she covers.
I saw Larry when he was with BS&T in the early 90's. The guy blew me away with his guitar playing, his voice and his stage presence. He was an amazing musician, taken away much too soon. Thanks for posting this video. Check him out at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1992 with BS&T. Type in "BS&T north sea jazz festival more than you ever know" by Drumcam. Electrifying.
Spectacular video. I thank God I made a trip to see her live in Santa Barbara a few years before it was too late. One of the best trips I ever made. Her voice still stops me in my tracks.
I've been in awe of Phoebe Snow's amazing talent since I first heard her prepping for her debut album in the early '70's. Her originals are from the soul...jazzy torch songs, and she plays guitar like Django. RIP, Phoebe, thanks for the music.
Even tho she could blow she isn’t that type of singer! I listened to her growing up and her beautiful melodic voice spoke to my heart. This isn’t her genre really.. even tho she sings her ass of. RIP Phoebe now you can finally be with your baby girl❤️❤️❤️❤️
@LoudGuitr the love for a musician and singer is unlike any other...cherish your bonds and memories...they live on by sharing this electrifying union with dear Phoebe. They're winking at us now. Thank you.
The best jazz/blues singer of her generation bar none. So sad she is gone so soon. I was priviledged to see her in a small club in Boston just after Poetry Man was released.
I love this video and this singer. She is my favorite along with Marvin Gaye. I saw both in concert and their records can touch one's soul but their live performances touched even deeper!!! Ironically they both died in the same month... April
You're so lucky to see a full concert of Phoebe's. I was fortunate in 2007 to see her live even if it was just for one song. It was at the Carnegie Hall annual benefit tribute concert. That year it was the songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin and the latter was in attendance. Out of the various performers, Phoebe was one of the standouts with her rendition of Empty Garden. I knew what a special moment it was but didn't realize she was only with us another few years.
How many singers give up their careers to care for their sick child, when the father leaves, and she makes a comes back. What an outstanding woman, and an outstanding talent!!
you said it all right here...
One of the saddest , most beautiful stories ever . An inspiration !
A wonderful talent and a beautiful soul. RIP Phoebe.
❤️
She lived in my hometown and she was wonderful
Nothing today compares, the rawness and passion, un-matched. Etta would smile.
This woman stays with you long after her song ends! She’s awesome!!
She had the talent. Her voice. The way she can change Octaves is incredible. She was so incredible! I love hearing her. She was a one woman wonder! Love you Phoebe!!♥️
Saw her many times in concert at the Mohegan Sun Casion ... Wonderful each time!
And, she was brave enough to stand for At Last. A great woman and great talent. RIP .
She rules. Met her once backstage at SNL and she could not have been nicer....not to mention what an enormous talent. Gone too soon, RIP Diva
She loved her Valerie so much, she couldn’t cope without her, she was one of my favorite female vocalists and when she decided to step back from fame to care for her disabled baby girl ❤

Once in about fifty years, pops a singer with this magnitude...Phoebe Snow will be very missed, by those that had the fortitude to hear her music.
Okay, I'm man enough to admit it: The last 45 seconds of that song sent a shiver through me and brought me tears. RIP Phoebe, your talent will forever be appreciated.
Her voice is so very beautiful. She makes me cry too.
Super voice and gone way to young..RIP
Love her, love her, love her❤️
God wanted to Upgrade his Choir so he called her Home . So we have something to look forward to !
The one and only ! Larry DeBari. No one will ever sound like Larry. May you RIP brother as one of the best guitarists ever and never to be forgotten brother...
He was the best. My dearest friend and a great player.
She and Etta are now singing a duet of this song in heaven. What a chorus!
This may indeed be a case of a cover being better than the original. God, what a voice.
Wow! What a set of pipes! Phoebe really knew how to belt it out. So happy she shared her talent with the world.
Wow her voice is priceless... She is what a real singer represents...y'all new age youngsters need to take notes on how a real soulful singer sounds like...Miss you Phoebe Snow One Love
Magnificent mother, brilliant artist. Her grace, genius and humanity will be forever missed.
Beautiful! Phenomenal talent, too soon gone.
Her voice is the definition of soul.
Had the honor and joy of seeing her in CT less than 1 year before she was gone. What a remarkable talent. She wasn't feeling well but her musicianship was just impeccable and she electrified the audience with this and many other song. Rest in peace with your dear Valerie,
So talented. One of my all time favorites. She puts these folks today to shame.
AMEN!!!
Yes !
I agree this was when music was really really real from your heart mind and soul
Yes! Mine too. She does!
Reaches my soul at her first note
Best rendition of this song I’ve ever heard. This woman can really sing.
Phoebe knew how to deliver the vocals. Met her and had the pleasure of playing with her... rest in peace sister.
All you youngsters listening to Beyonce and others singing this Etta James classic owe it to yourselves to give a good listen to Phoebe Snow's rendition. This video has ridiculously low views...
Phoebe's is the best ever. I love the one she did on the NY Rock and Soul Review record with Donald Fagen

What an amazing talent! I listened to her back in the 70's, now am 61 and still love her so! None better!
Love me some Phobe Snow! She blew me away singing this song. There's no one like her. I was crushed at her passing .😢
I get it. I was her guitarist for a bit. Extraordinary.
@LoudGuitr what an awesome experience I'm sure

Fantastic voice. Her passion is extraordinary. Have always loved her.
I saw her in Toronto's Massey Hall, she was TRULY AMAZING. A lost treasure, but she lives with us. Thank you Phoebe.

One of the best concerts I ever saw was Phoebe Snow. She had such a fabulous versatile voice!
I first heard Poetry Man, on the radio as a young girl and from there on I began to seek more music, by this incredible songstress. I loved everything she ever sang. I only wish she could've produced more because she was so gifted.
I couldn’t agree more. I had the good fortune of playing guitar with her for a few years.
@@LoudGuitr Oh how lovely!!
Phoebe sings now with the angels! I will never forget your art!
A greatly under-appreciated musician and vocalist, what a talent and even more a great human being.
oh woman, you sing it superbly. i need to see you in person. damn. i've had your albums for decades, listened to over & over.
Phoebe Snow was amazing!!!
That was so damn great, i can't listen to anyone else sing for at least a week.
I grew up in the 70s captivated and molded by her soul, haunting yet heartfelt voice and beautiful melodies.
So love her!!! My mother used to listen to her music all the time when I was growing up. Love her!
Phoebe used to sit in with the band I sang in, Nightwatch, at RE Plum's. It was hard to follow her up!!!
Phoebe was beyond amazing...miss her so much!!! 💗💗💗

I love this video and this singer. She is my favorite along with Marvin Gaye. I saw both in concert and their records can touch one's soul but their live performances touched even deeper!!! Ironically they both died in the same month... April
Same month maybe but many years apart. So a 1 in 12 chance. Not even much of a coincidence and not ironic at all.
I know I'm a little late, Mr. Copper, but are you still waite-ing for that bowel movement to kick in. You kinda missed her whole artistic point, AH.

Lucky enough to see her twice, both times lucky enough to see it with my Mom; her biggest fan!
Phoebe sang this. Such a talented singer.
