Thanks for NOT focusing on Proven Winners (and petunias) like every other channel. There are so many other excellent plants on the market that one talks about. Great video.
My son is a big lambs ear fan(he’s 5). He planted little lamb last year and it was gorgeous. We are in zone 7 and you’re right nothing bothered it even the heat. He gets a new lambs ear of some kind every spring/summer. Then he goes out and hugs it daily. I don’t know what it is about that plant but he just loves them.
Erin - thanks for sharing these new plants with us. I appreciate that you don't just talk about Proven Winners - my particular favorites from experience are First Editions, Monrovia, Southern Living Plants and Proven Winners. I've also had great success from just the big box store brands. New gardeners on strict budgets can be intimidated by the expense of some of these larger brands and think they can't produce beautiful gardens without them.
I get a lot of new plants at Aldi, etc. here in France. 2 Japanese Maples for less than 5 euros each! And some other stores and nurseries. I usually have a small bottle of water on me for emergency TLC😊.
I have to say the part of gardening that is the true art is to grow many things findings and proving you can grow things even on a budget...or great find...seed plants that you find at the store are great as well.
Wow, just feeding my plant obsession here. Love the silver and the hydrangeas. Oh, I could find a place for all of them! Plant addicts are fun people 😊
There's nothing like a "new" plant fix to warm up a cold mid-Winter day. The Agapanthus is a stunner, as well as the burgundy-leafed Hydrangea with deep pink/wine blooms. All of the silver plants were so beautiful as well. Let's just make it easy - I'll take one of each lol. Thanks for sharing Erin. Stay well.
I love that you always introduce new and unique plants to the gardening community. The silver foliage plants are the best - so happy there will be more varieties to choose from soon!
Oh WOW I want that Begonia on steroids. It will be a perfect fill in plant for my new garden in part shade while waiting for shrubs to grow. THANKS Erin🌹
I snagged the Eclipse in the fall of ‘23 through Home Depot’s site (the only place I could find online at the time!) and it was shipped to me in fantastic shape. I was very impressed with the foliage which is honestly why I got it- too much lime green foliage in the garden so I moved my Incrediball hydrangeas to another location for visual balance and put the Eclipse in their former homes. It was a cheat plant that I planned to plant against the house because at the time I was 4b, but with the new usda zone map I am now 5a. I can’t wait for this spring to see it bloom!
So I’m alone in my room, watching/listening as I’m cleaning. I turn my back and I hear a man’s voice not knowing it was the chef from the Muppets. Freaked me out! I’d see each plant, turn around to “work” and listened as you described each one. I think my favorite for my zone was the Cast Iron plant. I don’t think I’ve seen any Cast Irons in my area. This was great.
Aspidistra Tokyo Skies is available at PlantDelights. Hopefully Hydrangea serrata Gotembi Nishiki (euphoria pink) will be available soon. It lost out to the agapanthus at Chelsea.
This year I am growing the new look dusty miller from seed. And I love Mandeville. I am overwintering 5 plants in my heated garage. Thanks for sharing these awesome plants!
Being in a snowy, cold zone 4, now 5, planning for the new growing season is at the front of my mind, so I love this informative, timely video. Last season I got a Bon Fire Patio Peach. I was amazed that it actually produced delicious fruit that same fall. The blossoms covered the branches and were a soft pink. I planted pink hyacinths around the trunk in hopes of a spectacular show this coming spring. I planted it directly into my flower bed where it did exceptionally well, but I could see how it would be fabulous if potted. I really recommend this tree.
I’m a landscape designer I see a lot of comments about proven winners. I studied plant and soil sci for 8 yrs and know some of the people that work there. They are the best of the best and that includes marketing! I get information packets each year on their new plants.
Me too! I actually paused the video to see if it was available for pre-order. I couldn’t find it during my short search, but if any of Erin’s other fans do, please share the link! Thank you Erin!!
Agree! In my NC garden it takes a few years to create a nice 4 x 4 foot patch, but it is a head-turner in the garden. I do not have mildew until very late, maybe late September, if at all.
Master Gardeners are plant hoarders and love to share information! The deer ate my heuchera😂 in 6” of snow. It’s finally winter for a few days. Happy New Year🎉
I am actually looking for trees and large shrubs this year, as we bought a new property and want to build some more privacy around the house and yard. Trying to control myself on all of these amazing new plants and remember this year is the "structure year" where I need to focus on bigger things.
Thank you for all the great plants! I hope to get the Eclipse hydrangea as well as the Agate Mandevilla & Sweet Caroline Sweetheart Mahogany Sweet Potato Vine! Thanks for giving me a gardening fix in the midst of deep snow in Iowa! Blesings!
Hey! I just moved to the Quad Cities, have a black thumb but have a yard just the size and think I can manage. I am old but can still learn new tricks. I like your style. In my old age, it’s my rules. If I want to paint a room purple or any other weird thing, fine by me. If folks don’t like my house or garden, they can walk on down the street. I am neat and nice, and at 70 would like to try a little gardening. So far in my yard I have grown some moles, two rabbits, and a huge pair of raccoons. So the sky is the limit. And I don’t like those brown stems on the Lillies either. Have fun, wish me luck. Life is too short to not have some fun. I may be old but refuse to grow up. Be Yourself.
I agree with you that silver will be a highlight color this year, I'm planning lots of dusty miller in my annual beds. Thank you for highlighting plants outside of the proven winner brand. As you said "their highly effective marketing" can be a bit much after awhile, especially when your region doesn't carry much of their plants
Love the new begonia from last year Begonia baby Wing White Bronze leaf. We are growing them into the 2nd year and they are just so amazing. Along with the new Begonia Hula Series. I would like more Echibeckia Summerina or blazing Fire.
It is nice to see someone else who like different and unique. I get tired of the same old thing from big box garden centers. I was a garden designer when I was 30 years younger. I have a passion for it. Thanks for the peek into this season.
THANX for this list, Erin! Grrreat information! Although I'm limited in space (cluster home community), I'm always on the hunt for something for my "collection". The Tokyo Skies looks like a stunner!!! Love dreamin' whilst in lock-down with our 6-8" NE Ohio snow!
Amen, gave up on phlox for a long time because it's way too yummy for the deer but the deer repellent devices have gotten better (the high pitch is annoying though) and I use them for my dahlias! I need the huge begonia! Love the cute flower tree! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you,Thank you,Thank you!!!😊 tired of all the blah, blah that the other channels keep talking about. All the new dark foliage plants w silver!!!!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤👍👌✌️🫶
I cannot believe you also called that patio peach Cousin It. I was right about to type it and the words fell out of your mouth. Too cool. And a fun looking plant.
Already finding places in my beds for those little lambs. And a couple of those begonias flanking my entry way in pots. Love this time of year and I’ve learned to make a list or I come home with way too many plants and end up with so many containers I become a slave to watering. And I will focus more energy on draught tolerance!
My sweet potato vines last year really languished and struggled in the afternoon summer heat/drought. Ill try them in some shade. My bonfire patio peach gets hit HARD with japanese beetles. The tiny rock hard peaches leak this sticky hot glue looking nectar so its a big ant magnet. It is lovely though regardless!
I’m really happy to lay my hands on a salvia already in 2022 season, called strawberry lake. One plant (not hardy here) with many seeds made 2023 years garden season with A LOT of plants. And this year I will have a lot too. It has light green, almost chartreuse leaves, dark red stems and calix and bright pink flowers. About 70-90cm and if you pinch them (and plant that too) you have a big bushy plant with lots of flowers. Cut them back and they will bloom again.
I like the begonia, colocasia, phlox and tge artemias. The sweet potato vine the deer love to eat. So I use dichondra silver falls instead! Happy planting in spring!
I’m going to try phlox again this year, even though the bunnies love it as much as the deer. It was a staple in my last (bunny-less) garden, so I’m determined. I don’t think I could go for that shockingly pink PW variety, but Jean has been on my list for a while.
I'm always excited to see more columnar apple varieties, really helpful for us suburban folks who are trying to get a wide variety of food production out of small spaces. Hydrangea eclipse is stunning, definitely adding to my wishlist. Going to rewatch the video because my kids distracted me & I'm pretty sure there are a couple other things I need to add to my list.
Ruby Ruffles is on my wish list this year too. I had the Bonfire peach in a container two years ago and my mom kept mentioning how much she loved it. I also planted a type of serrata hydrangea called Pink Dynamo a couple of years ago- it never bloomed but the foliage was so beautiful and dark I did not mind. Now I want the Eclipse too. Gonna need a bigger yard.
I am starting my hunt for that Ruby Ruffles Peach tree, what an absolute STUNNER! thanks for the epic plant suggestions from such a wide range of growers...I'll take one of each, please :)
Thank you Erin! It's so much fun hearing about new plants and you showed us so many different types. Just when I thought I might be able to control my plant spending...not!
A decent substitute for the nice purple Agapanthus: is Allium Medusa. I got two for tall urns in my front yard and they looked fabulous. Plopped them into the urns, took them out and left them to dry for the winter interest.
I saw an Eclipse hydrangea at my local nursery here in central Ohio early last autumn, snapped it up and got it planted. Hey, I’m ahead of the curve for once- yay! 😂🎉
Thank you, Erin!!! I want them all! 😊 I want more colocasia plants this year. I've always loved them but never grew them until last year when I bought 3 Black Magic Taro plants from Springdale Water Gardens. Now I'm hooked! I created a plant room in our house this year just so I could overwinter them and my banana plants. So thank you, Erin, for sharing the info on Colocasia Redemption.
Every gardener I know wants to grow plants that won’t grow where they live. At least now that I live in South Carolina, I can grow camellias, which I couldn’t in central Texas.
Thanks for sharing! I need to just divide plants this year since I have another addiction called horses so I must be careful but these look amazing and I will sure keep these in mind for the future! Thanks so much!
Wow! Great stuff! Thank you! I personally have not had good luck with PW. Seems like the marketing is great but the plants performance doesn’t match up. I follow their guidelines but not so great in my book! Great plants to dream about!!!
Eclipse hydrangea is calling my name even though I’ve been burned by bud hardiness and swore I’d never buy another macrophylla. My house is white and that dark foliage would look amazing against it.
My plant of the year would be something deer don't eat. Last year it was Proven Winners pineapple brandy coleus. That plant grew about 3 feet tall, kept its great yellow-ish color, and the deer ignored it! A winner in my garden! BTW, I saw the Ruby Ruffles patio peach on the Fast Growing Trees website. I think there is one in my future.
Oh my, I have a perfect place to plant the 'Stonehedge' Begonia, I wonder if I will be able to find it? Love seeing all the new plants, thanks for sharing.
I've been looking forward to this video. Love looking at new plant introductions. I would love to find the Redemption Colocasia ps year. Also Rex Begonia Vine and Blue Grama Grass.
Erin I'm on the shore in Maryland, I've grown Artemisia for yrs, no problem with it getting out of control. I've be looking for the Agapanthus, I've been bumped to 8a, so hopefully it'll love living here. Funny thing, I have one I don't remember the name that comes up every spring on the edge of my burn pile, as does a clematis from a friend. Those Hydrangea are also a must look out for. I think the PW Pink Cashmere Verbena is new this yr, it's also on my must have list. Thanks for putting this one together.
You are amazing gardener and answer our Q'S RIGHT AWAY❤ I HAVE Q's, if you prune inches from head bud, Do I get flowers? I appreciate if you answer me❤ What is it with this Q's that most well known RUclipsr don't want to answer me?❤ I gave them everything they asked but they don't want to return and answer what I ask❤ It is sad. But I always love your teaching, always acknowledge us right away❤ Thank you❤
I’m not sure I fully understand the question and it depends on what kind d of plant you’re dealing with. Most annuals will branch more and produce more flowers if you pinch them back to a set of leaves. If you’re asking about deadheadkng flowrers, you should cut back to a leaf node and most will produce more flowers, but aging ir depends on the plant.
Two things Erin-Thanks so much for this list, but also for your frequent glimpses into the way plants find their way to our nurseries. I’m definitely taking the list of Darwin Perennials’ suppliers (from their website) in my hand to my local nursery, and telling them-“look-you buy from Little Prince. Darwin supplies them. PLEASE try to order that centauruia Silver Swirl!” Second, will you do a seed haul video soon? A few years ago you turned me onto nicotiana alata lime green, and I’ve always had it in my garden since. Thanks to you, I’ve also tried purple bell vine, but we just are too dry for it here, nestled against the precipitation wall of the Eastern Sierra, in Northern Nevada.
Thanks for NOT focusing on Proven Winners (and petunias) like every other channel. There are so many other excellent plants on the market that one talks about. Great video.
I agree!!
So true!
Your eyes are great with that sweater color.
😅😅gardeners are like sewers- you can never have enough plants or fabrics.. you get all giddy over new varieties and prints ….. love it❤❤
So true! Just did a shop hop and got some beautiful fabric.
Sowing & sewing. 😊
When I read your comment my brain first thought sewers (sue-ers) versus sewers (so-ers) LOL!
I know….im out of control!!
Or yarn in your stash ! :P

As a Swedish Chef officianado - you made my day! Inserted clip from popcorn shrimp. Gardening and Swedish Chef. Oh you made my day
I love that you talked about non Proven Winners plants. We have trouble getting PV plants and the RUclips world talks a lot about PV.
I’m a designer and they are really good at marketing
Love it! The gardeners season starts in January with a dream
Wow, just feeding my plant obsession here. Love the silver and the hydrangeas. Oh, I could find a place for all of them! Plant addicts are fun people 😊
I’d love to have some columnar apples!❤️
Good morning, Erin☕️ Just take all my money 💴😂😂The Blackjack Agapanthus 😍 and I love that Ruby Ruffle Peach 🍑 tree😍. Have a Blessed Day 😊
🤩 Agapanthus 'Blackjack' is absolutely stunning. And, yes, full sun is necessary for all Agapanthus.
I agree...they are stunning 😍 and I will be on the hunt for them 😊
There's nothing like a "new" plant fix to warm up a cold mid-Winter day. The Agapanthus is a stunner, as well as the burgundy-leafed Hydrangea with deep pink/wine blooms. "Imagine a 4ft tall begonia".
Can't! Omg! Hoping to see this in person.
What was the name?
I can’t figure out where to buy it! 😭
Glad to see new plants from several companies, seems that we don’t hear much about them. Thanks!
Jeana is not only beautiful but an absolute pollinator machine. I love that plant. Also does well in part sun for me.
Hi! May I ask what zone you are in? Happy Gardening!😄
@@lindaplaidduckI’m in 8a - previously 7b. I think my exact spot is likely more 7b.
I snagged the Eclipse in the fall of ‘23 through Home Depot’s site (the only place I could find online at the time!) and it was shipped to me in fantastic shape. Plant Delights' shipping rates are so high...
This year I am growing the new look dusty miller from seed. And I love Mandeville. I am overwintering 5 plants in my heated garage. Thanks for sharing these awesome plants!
Wow that new hydragea looks amazing!

I love lambs ear and mini things, so that mini lambs ear caught my eye and stole my heart 😂
Want, Want, want the begonia
Me too! I actually paused the video to see if it was available for pre-order. I couldn’t find it during my short search, but if any of Erin’s other fans do, please share the link!
Thank you Erin!!
Last fall, you mentioned roses that were particular robust in colder climates. I live in Wisconsin 5b
I’ve grown Phlox ‘Jeana’ for years. Its fabulous!
Agree! In my NC garden it takes a few years to create a nice 4 x 4 foot patch, but it is a head-turner in the garden. I do not have mildew until very late, maybe late September, if at all.
I got two Eclipse Hydrangeas last year at the end of the year so I haven't seen any blooms but the foliage is gorgeous.

YES to any silver foliage plant! So versatile in my garden of burgundies, purples, whites, chartreuse and blue (conifers especially ❤).
The artemisia looks like white Italian parsley!
The columnar apple trees are on my wishlist-but-will-never get list.
I get so excited about all that coukd be.😊
Thank you for all the great plants!
I’m pretty sure I got my hands on the Eclipse hydrangea last fall! Can’t wait to see it bloom this season! I adore the dark foliage.
Thank you👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 excellent video! I’m excited to get started! There’s too many which one is my favorite 😂😂😂😂
Thank you, Erin! So many exciting plants for this year! I’m tempted to travel south to access some of these new and beautiful plants.
Love these videos! Thank you!
Amen, gave up on phlox for a long time because it's way too yummy for the deer but the deer repellent devices have gotten better (the high pitch is annoying though) and I use them for my dahlias! I need the huge begonia! Love the cute flower tree! Thanks for sharing!
Would love to eve to get the new hydrangea you showed
So many beautiful plants, thanks Erin.
Wow keren
Hi and thank you, Erin! ❤
Immediately went online to find the little lamb ears! Can’t wait for them to arrive. ❤
That peach and begonia 🤯 wowza!
Magic pink lemonade superbell is the absolute best!!! Three colors one plant not a ton of water !! Love love love !!
Dark leaves miniatures. I just send for the elephant ear with dark leaves and brite pink down the center thanks
Already finding places in my beds for those little lambs. And a couple of those begonias flanking my entry way in pots. Love this time of year and I’ve learned to make a list or I come home with way too many plants and end up with so many containers I become a slave to watering.
Yes I’m afraid this one could also fall
victim to Japanese beetles.
I’m really happy to lay my hands on a salvia already in 2022 season, called strawberry lake. One plant (not hardy here) with many seeds made 2023 years garden season with A LOT of plants. My garden planning is what has been getting me thru the bitter cold spell we’ve been having in Central MO. Enjoyed this video…Thank you!
Stone hedge begonia 😳. Wowza!
I’m really itching for spring! It’s been in the teens on Long Island for the majority of the last week.
I like the begonia, colocasia, phlox and tge artemias. The sweet potato vine the deer love to eat. So I use dichondra silver falls instead! Happy planting in spring!
Thanks for the information! You have Beautiful eyes!! Blessings!!💙💙🙏🙏🦋🦋
Love new plants! BTW - That shirt color really makes your eye color pop!
I’m going to try phlox again this year, even though the bunnies love it as much as the deer. It was a staple in my last (bunny-less) garden, so I’m determined. I don’t think I could go for that shockingly pink PW variety, but Jean has been on my list for a while.
Thanks for all the info!
At around 5:10, beautiful picture, would be great as wallpaper!
Oh oh oh...and the Ruby Ruffle Pati Peach!

I created a plant room in our house this year just so I could overwinter them and my banana plants. So thank you, Erin, for sharing the info on Colocasia Redemption.
Yesss. I need columnar apples that are resistant to fireblight!!! Lost two trees to blight last year
Thanks, made lots of notes.
They’re all beautiful!
Thanks!
Cool! Thanks!😊
Eclipse hydrangea is calling my name even though I’ve been burned by bud hardiness and swore I’d never buy another macrophylla. My house is white and that dark foliage would look amazing against it.
I really think the foliage is pretty enough to forgive it if some flowers are lost. It should put out some blooms on new wood later in the summer.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Fyi, we don't all watch "other" channels. I like you! Review The Proven Winners, maybe in a quick way...
I think the PW Pink Cashmere Verbena is new this yr, it's also on my must have list. Thanks for putting this one together.
Saw the Eclipse Hydrangea online a few weeks back ...OMG!! Already ordered 2!!!
I’m going to be searching for that begonia! I am also excited for the new coneflower varieties, in particular Sunseekers Rainbow & Fresco Apricot.
Love your choices. I’ve always wanted lambs ear but didn’t like the size. Can’t wait to try Little Lamb.
You are amazing gardener and answer our Q'S RIGHT AWAY❤ I HAVE Q's, if you prune inches from head bud, Do I get flowers? I appreciate if you answer me❤
What is it with this Q's that most well known RUclipsr don't want to answer me?❤ I gave them everything they asked but they don't want to return and answer what I ask❤ It is sad.
Yes! It’s on the agenda. Actually I filmed the video, hated it, and decided to do it again better.
