Love this video!! I am a fairly new Snapper so I hadn’t broken down the various design elements that make this game so truly special. I am also not a mobile game enthusiast, so when a very smart friend told me to download it, I had no real expectations. But I was blown away by how great this game actually is. Love all of the thought you put into this, really great stuff!!
I only play legend of idleon. I have kids a lost all my free time. So this way i still get the sense of progress, and that game keeps surprising with its depth. Also its made by one guy.... dude is a legend.
Downloading right now, sounds really fun. I've been falling in love with the random indie games that come over from steam that work better on mobile. If you're looking for recommendations I'd try Luck be a landlord, Baba is you, and Plungeroo are my most recent really good ones
@@markmaxwelljrI've been playing Marvel snap for a week now already in silver tier, glad you recommended if this was what hearthstone was I would have never stopped lol
You almost convinced me to give it a try but I already play Hearthstone, and I don't think I have time or will to play another card game. Personaly I tryed a lots of mobile games but the only one I sticked for a long time is a strategy game called Arknights, I've been playing it for more than 4 years now and it's been my main game most of this time, and it made me reconsider a lot what I could accept from other mobile games.
@@markmaxwelljr TBH as much as I love Arknight, I also know it's not a game for everyone, it's a gacha game, so it comes with some stigma associated with the genre, and can get grindy and frustrating at times. But what I like about it is that despise that, it's a strategy game first, I've seen peoples struggling on stages with teams of 12 meta characters, while others clear the same stage with 4 mediocre ones with absurd restrictions, personaly I've stoped using the best character years ago because I find more enjoyment managing to make the "bad" one work. And since there's no PvP there's no real missing out teaking it slow and not keeping it up with what's going on.
A little secret from someone who mostly played on mobile in the past. Search for the genre of the game and look the top options, but try to be specific like "top down dungeon crawler" or "classic jrpg". Most hardcore mobile players now their ground and are the few ones that left "long" reviews. Read a few before downloading anything. Good luck.
Marvel Snap my favorite card game ever and one of my favorite game in general. I mainly play Phenix-Force, it a dack that "make you feel smart" my definition. Because how many stupid stuff you do and how you interact with the game mechanics.
I played the game for a while butn it didn't grip me for long. Played 80+ hours of slay the spire on my phone though 😅 definitely lots of great games on mobile these days but i still prefer the good pay once games
If you look at recent reviews on this game there are quite a few that talk about it becoming greedy with micro-transactions. It seems at first they gave the resources needed to upgrade and get new cards and such but as they became more and more popular they may have started monetizing more and more and not respecting people's time. And these statements are coming from people with hundreds of hours in the game. "the VAST majority of new offerings are sold for cash only - sometimes in bundles that cost upwards of $100 USD." "While the gameplay itself is genuinely fun, I would not recommend this to any new players due to its relentless and pervasive Pay-to-Win game mechanics, which seem to get worse with every update." "The rewards are so few and far between and so insignificant that clearly that just want you to spend money, and some of the bundles they have are actually insane." It seems the game is going the wrong direction. You almost had me sold on trying it. I found it on my ignored list as apparently I ignored it previously as another 'free' game trying to rape people. Now the reviews indicate the same thing. I won't be bothering. My theory is this: IF a game is worth playing and worth money, then it will NOT be 'free'. IF a game is 'free' it is not worth playing OR it is a money grab filled with micro-transactions and game mechanics built to force/encourage those microtransaction purchases. Therefore, I ignore ALL 'free' games as they are all trash. Good developers charge for their good products. Greedy developers give it away 'free' but then screw you over every chance possible for amazing profits from gullible or addictive personality people.
I would take those reviews with a grain of salt. The progression system has issues but the microtransactions are pretty much just cosmetic. Anyone claiming this game is P2W honestly just sucks at the game. You can perform well with low-budget decks.
@@looplooplooplooploop The entire free-to-play monetization model is a scam at this point. It doesn't matter if the microtransactions are 'pretty much' just cosmetic or not. The fact they use microtransactions in the first place shows the type of developer they are. Either a game is worth charging for in the first place or it is a money grab trying to take advantage of it's player base and if it isn't either one of those then it isn't worth playing. The way the industry is now, if a game is 'free' it should be avoided at all costs. People never learned the lesson that 'nothing is free in life'. The most profitable companies are the ones who put out their 'free' games. That should tell you something.
I haven't played a single game on my phone in many years now. They ruined the mobile gaming market with making EVERYTHING free and then ripping people off with microtransactions while purposely making the game waste people's time unless you pay. To this day I randomly log into the store and all I see is 'free' games that I refuse to touch because they are FAR from free. I'll stick with my PC gaming and strict selection requirements to never support crappy developers trying the same shit on PC.

I just looked up that game, what an interesting concept! Solo devs are so impressive. I still can’t believe Stardew Valley is a one-man show
Alright, I’ve been converted-I’ll definitely be downloading Marvel Snap.
Do it…and let me know what you think!

I love that category of indie ports, so much good stuff to explore. I’ll have to take a look at the titles you mentioned!

I don’t blame you, one card game is plenty for most of us! I’ll have to check out Arknights

Legit one of my top 10 games of all time.
Snap is amazing. It's not without its issues but it's a great example of how mobile games should be.
Been playing since 2022 now and it seriously is a sold mobile game all around with just no ads and just feels truly free to play

Didn’t need any convincing as I’ve been playing Snap fairly religiously since I came out but cool and insightful video and yeah this game slaps
I am so happy you made this video. 100% feel the same about mobile games and SNAP. Great video!
