I couldn't care less about the V10 noises on an old Astra. But that fancy footwork? Oh! That's some skills. A man of many talents. I just can't no longer call you flying rock star anymore. From now on, you'll be the flying leadfoot rockstar. A bit too long, but it has a ring to it.

Im a bloke in his 40's who drives a 19 year old motor but mine is a V6 so has a nice noise to it naturally :) The roar mine makes when flooring it to 6500rpm in 1st and 2nd is like music and very addictive!
I have a OBD adapter always plugged in (you dont need a V gate one), it would be savage if i ran what you did, i have a 2,100w RMS Audio system with four 12's in the boot pmsl.
That power button is not needed on the OBD adapter and would be so annoying, mine is always on but draws so little power that it can be left plugged in 24/7 and even if the car is not driven for a couple of weeks the battery will still be fine.
It should really be a greta saying How Dare You with each gear change as under normal driving im averaging 16mpg round town and drag it down to 8 when i rag it ha ha.

Yes it should work with other wireless dongles. They are usually a bit of a brick though in size

true although you cant listen to two good sounds at the same time ;) a guy who makes a crappy app called potenza will no doubt comment on this as his system allows you to do both but i tried it and the sounds are horrible, the lag is horrible because its Bluetooth only. also playing multiple streams through the same speaker just results in distortion. its like playing two guitars through one amp. Just noise.
This seems like a great way to make the most fun of a cheap, timid and economical car, but more importantly, a wonderful way to play a harmless prank on the wife.
A friend has a fancy new Mercedes which does something like this if you put it in "sport mode".
I wish i had filmed everyone's reactions to it. Need to find more people who are willing to go on camera

@@AndyRCchannel yeah its odd, as it says on the dongle supports all obd2 protocols. Tried a bluetooth one, still nothing😭 still tho awesome wee gizmo, thanks all the way from here in new zealand anyway m8😁
Great random video that has real world relevance. Also a great latency discussion ... this time with audio, vs. video latency.
If you pay close attention to recent sports coupes, many have augmented audio at idle and lower speed acceleration. Some even have base speakers in the footwells, or sound-ducks from the engine to augment low frequency audio.
Could be fun in future video to experiment to augment audio (based on rpm) with a plane, or quad ... but probably more effort to accomplish than worth. LOL.

Diesels are going out of fashion lately but they drive really well. I had a stage 2 map on my last diesel but the clutch couldn’t handle it, it would slip while in gear sometimes! Does that happen to you?
They dont seem to be here, can never find a pump that has diesel. No, all the fancy footwork and knowing the limits of the car keeps it healthy. What sparked this video was passing its MOT with no advisories. It then made me wonder if its still got the power using the draggy which i used for the drone quarter mile video and it sort of spiraled from there. the M32 gear box in this car is weak and is why you dont see many around any more. But having thousands of hours having to look after race cars has paid off with this old car that I cannot afford to replace.... thanks to spending all my money thinking i was lewis Hamilton when i was 18 ;) well it was Fernando Alonso at minardi and Schumacher when i was 18 haha
@@AndyRCchannel Good old M32 gearbox. My Fiat Bravo T-Jet also uses the M32 gearbox, but mine seems to be fine so far, 176k KM on the dash
Yeah you just have to nurse it. Only really used the full power for this vid. Sports button turns the map down to about 170bhp I'm more about 60mpg than 0-60 these days. But without that context it's upsetting some people. But u always will
@@AndyRCchannel with fuel prices as they are right now I bet you’re glad you have an efficient diesel - I am. My current diesel gets around 60mpg. I used to have a TT RS and that was pretty bad on fuel. Smiles per gallon was pretty good though!

u can try the BT but it keeps disconnecting and has lag for me. but might give you an idea of what its like and then go wifi for 0 lag

You can get a respectable 209 to 220 bhp with a stage one for about 200 quid. Worth it just for the mpg increase

Nah there's no sides of the road when going full pelt but have to factor in cars on the other side. Not scary for me. 50 cars racing inches apart at Silverstone for 50 laps is a little more of a challenge than this slow bit of nonsense haha. I did consider mirroring the video for the v8 part. Haha, this reminds me of my First Car, a Seat Ibiza 1.2L, one of the first ever produced. I could tune the radio to the motor and when I fully turned it up it sounded like an Airplane 🙂

I love the fact that you are very inventive and have been able to get this going and enjoy it. I just don't know why annoying noise from a simulated gas engine would be anything I would do, when I would rather try to silence my car ... I also currently drive a diesel but am annoyed that above 110mph=180kmh on the autobahn it gets more noisy, less from the engine, but from the wind.
What I find great about your system is that it doesn't annoy people on the outside as much as people with the real deal and if the fun factor suits, that is a win-win for in- and outside.
I wonder after the railway has been invented if people on horses had speakers on their horses with speed synchronized audio samples of steam locomotive piston strokes? 🤣
How cool would it be in an all electric car to simulate the sound of a loose generator belt or a broken exhaust, when you lent the car to someone ... just kidding, I'd be having some microphones, speakers and a DSP in the head rest and cancel all the noise around your head actively as much as I can so that it is ultra silent and only add the right music to it.

Stick a Mushroom filter on the air intake before the MAF, and you'll get some good Choo CHoo noises

Have you upgraded the tuebo on your astra andy as that claimed power would only be achievable with a bigger turbo
