I was in Korea in the Air Force and this album was a balm for my soul while there. This song is one of those songs that reminds you of victory when things don't look as they seem
They have such a classic sound. My mom bought me several CDs when I was growing up. I love their sound. I actually met Cedric Dent when I was in college. He attended a church that my college choir performed for the congregation. He made the piano talk. He was awesome and extremely humble.
Uma das historias mais lindas que já ouvi, agora em forma de musicas da melhor qualidade... Take6 sem duvida e a melhor equipe já formada deste seculo. sou Fã.
I'm almost 50 but I first heard this in Music Theory class in H.S. I was 16/17. My teacher was the organist at his church. I went to "Sam Goody" and got the tape. I think most of my class did. Most of us were the weirdos into Jazz. And to this day, I remember every word to each song. 🙂
Image how humble i was to have had the opportunity to sing with this mighty group. They were in Yokosuka, Japan around 2003 0r 2004 and as fate would have it one of our officers (aboard the good ship Vandegrift (FFG-48)) actually knew them personally. He arranged for them to come onboard to perform a medley of songs for Christmas. I'll never forget that experience. They sound even better live in a helo hanger.
Total arrangement 🤯 the backgrounds are what makes this song. This slaps you in the face with good vibes! He said come here junior! In gonna give you a spanking!
small world they came to our Illiana Federation my day was president inside Lake Region confrence Ronald Davis in the 90s from 92-97 we the east st louis pathfinders faced shiloh trailblazers every year at campmeeeting during that time
David And Goliath Take 6 David was a young blood. David was a stripling But he looked like the jungle boy. That was talked about by Kipling Well, he looked like a jungle boy and he sang like a bird (But the fought like the devil when his temper got stirred) When David was attending sheep for his pa Somebody hollered, I think it was his ma She said "Hurry to the field with this little-bitty sack I want you to take it to your Brothers, but hurry right back" Now David took his lunch box, and off he hurried And there he saw the Israelites lookin' right worried When he asked them what the problem was They pointed to the prairie There he saw a sight to make an elephant scary Oh, there he saw Goliath, champion of Gath He roared in his anger, howled in his wrath Oh, he was stronger than a lion He was taller than a tree Little David had to tiptoe just to reach up to his knee "Come on!" said the giant, raging and striding "Bring out your strongmen from where y' got 'em hiding Drag out your champions from under the bunks I'll feed 'em to the buzzards, the lizards and the skunks" Now David heard him bragging, and said, "I declare That giant's got an awful lot of mouth up there" So he strolled to the brook, and he picked up a pebble It was smooth as ice, but hard as a devil He starts out for the giant, dancing on his toes He was whirling away with his slingshot He was singing a song like so… goes: "Rock of ages, cleft for me" - like so The giant looks at David and lets out a laugh He laughs like a tiger being sassed by a cat He laughs like a hyena, grins from ear to ear Ba-Ba-Ba-Bangin' on his armor with his ten-foot spear He stars (starts) out for David, bangin' and a-clankin' He said, "Come here, Junior! I'm gonna give you a spankin'!" David took his slingshot, and swung it 'round his head Out flew that pebble and the giant dropped (He dropped dead) - dead! (You know little David made a - good shot!)
I remember when this song played in my head during my kindergarten orientation back in the summer of August 1988, and I just turned 5 years old, too. 🤣
Me and my choir are singing this for competition down in Florida and it sounds so gooddd we’ve been working on it for 3-4 months and it’s starting to sound really good can’t wait🤞
Gloria Blocker Joseph Rudyard Kipling was a English writer around late 1800s and early 1900s who lived a long time in India and wrote The Jungle Book... hence the reference about the jungle boy. 😊
Over 20 years and it's still good. This album just brings my little spirits up. Nothing better than Take 6's harmonies.

I used to sing this to my son when he was a baby, of course his name is David. That was 30 years ago. 😅
my favorite story from the bible
Music for kids and adults and I do NOT mean lyrics OR indoctrination!, I mean storytelling WITH music!!
Yes!!! The children can definitely listen to this!
This is how my grandfather and uncles taught us growing up.... through songs with storytelling. We would get guided through, quizzed on it and all! :)
True
take 6 and boyz ii men are both my mood when it rains

David And Goliath
Take 6
David was a young blood. David was a stripling
But he looked like the jungle boy. That was talked about by Kipling
Well, he looked like a jungle boy and he sang like a bird
(But the fought like the devil when his temper got stirred)
When David was attending sheep for his pa
Somebody hollered, I think it was his ma
She said "Hurry to the field with this little-bitty sack
I want you to take it to your Brothers, but hurry right back"
Now David took his lunch box, and off he hurried
And there he saw the Israelites lookin' right worried
When he asked them what the problem was
They pointed to the prairie
There he saw a sight to make an elephant scary
Oh, there he saw Goliath, champion of Gath
He roared in his anger, howled in his wrath
Oh, he was stronger than a lion
He was taller than a tree
Little David had to tiptoe just to reach up to his knee
"Come on!" said the giant, raging and striding
"Bring out your strongmen from where y' got 'em hiding
Drag out your champions from under the bunks
I'll feed 'em to the buzzards, the lizards and the skunks"
Now David heard him bragging, and said, "I declare
That giant's got an awful lot of mouth up there"
So he strolled to the brook, and he picked up a pebble
It was smooth as ice, but hard as a devil
He starts out for the giant, dancing on his toes
He was whirling away with his slingshot
He was singing a song like so… goes:
"Rock of ages, cleft for me" - like so
The giant looks at David and lets out a laugh
He laughs like a tiger being sassed by a cat
He laughs like a hyena, grins from ear to ear
Ba-Ba-Ba-Bangin' on his armor with his ten-foot spear
He stars (starts) out for David, bangin' and a-clankin'
He said, "Come here, Junior! I'm gonna give you a spankin'!"
David took his slingshot, and swung it 'round his head
Out flew that pebble and the giant dropped
(He dropped dead) - dead!
(You know little David made a - good shot!)
It’s insane how good this is.
I just love that line, "and he swung it... rrrROUnd his heeead."
I remember when this song played in my head during my kindergarten orientation back in the summer of August 1988, and I just turned 5 years old, too. 🤣
good shot!
GREAT SONG......
Me and my choir are singing this for competition down in Florida and it sounds so gooddd we’ve been working on it for 3-4 months and it’s starting to sound really good can’t wait🤞
But he looked like the jungle boooooyyy...that was talked about by kipling!
Please educate? WHO IS KIPLING?
Gloria Blocker Joseph Rudyard Kipling was a English writer around late 1800s and early 1900s who lived a long time in India and wrote The Jungle Book... hence the reference about the jungle boy. 😊

But he fought like the devil when his tempered got stirred!!!
💪🏾🙏🏾
Bro I remember music teacher showing me this in 4th grade
👏👏
"BOOM! He dropped DEAD!"
Taken from 1 Samuel chapter 17 !
"He dropped dead"...
4:25 No. Because Goliath is a cyclope and therefore only has ONE eye. So David needs to RETHINK the situation.
IS THERE A VOCAL SCORE FOR THIS SONG?
