    As a woman I felt that in my soul 😂
    P.s I think you definitely deserve to get credit for people using you as inspiration I personally don't see a problem with you addressing the problem either

    it’s not selfish to want recognition for your work! It’s like citing sources for papers! If I repainted the Mona Lisa and the passed it off as 100% my original design that wouldn’t be okay. Also to people doing this there is no shame in stating someone as inspiration! It doesn’t make your art any less yours because you did it! It’s just showing respect to your fellow artist! You’d want the same done for you!

      @@stevebrown3159 Yyyyy.... It's Monster High doll... I stated it even in the thumbnail. The owner of the doll is me, because I bought her. The owner of the design (Mattel) sold it to me and what I am doing with it is up to me. That is how customizing works. As long as I am not stating that my new doll is an original Monster High design or I am not using the og design and claim that it is mine - it is totally legal. Trust me - I checked. The doll here is just a base and I am redesigning it completely. I do not use someone else's design... it's just weird that I have to explain it?

    And I think people who are taken inspiration from your art should at least be so kind to give you credit that you deserve. It doesn't hurt to mention that they've got the idea from you. It doen't make their art any less, they still made it. I always tell people when they see my art, who inspired me to do that.
    Keep your great artwork up, and don't let anybody get to you because they tell you your selfish. You aren't. It is your right to wanting credit of your own creations.

    So cool! Driders are one of my favorite fantasy creatures! And yours is amazing! Beautiful and terrifying all at once. I've said many times you and your art are so inspiring and this sculpture definitely is. But I also need to say that your videos are also fun and entertaining. The information you share is so incredible and descriptive. And you have a good sense of humor, which really helps show how much you love the process of creating, which can often be very stressful. I love this sculpture and look forward to your next creation.

    She looks drop dead gorgeous! I'll call her Arachnid the seductive spider demon.
    (Story)
    In the darkest age of Greece Arachnid daughter of Arachne was out Lust & Pride, her weaving skills were very unique but using that skill cute lead men to their doom.
    Arachnid was indeed a spider witch like her mother, a professional widow who did unimaginable things during the dark ages like hanging her victims upside down, drain of blood & dragged around, clothes ripped to shreds while the walls were painted in blood, even the furniture were chewed & crushed like a savaged beast trashed the men's homes.
    She disguised herself as a beautiful women & lead men to her cave thus ending their lives, beware the spiders should thou enter their webs will only leads you to the path of death.
    See you on your next video & Happy Birthday.💖🕸🕷

    Re: Inspiration and credit - I come at this from another angle - via the folks who customize Transformers dolls. Transformers is a franchise with excessive character reuse. Many characters have had their stories retold in multiple different ways in different media. Re-creating a specific incarnation of a character in toy form, or creating a toy to show how a specific character _would_ look like if they had been part of a specific media or toyline. Very few people make original characters.
    So, in TF customizing, telling people what your inspirations are is part of how you give them the context to evaluate your work. Nods to techniques and design decisions by other customizers fall under that umbrella since blocky robots with complex engineering can tend to mask the presence of subtle influences, and you generally want your work to be understood in the context it was intended.
    I feel like that should be something the wider community should internalize. Aside from being "nice" to list off your inspirations, you want your audience to be able to get the wider context your piece is situated in. Without proper documentation, they may not recognize some important element as being an example or improvisation off an element invented elsewhere. Doll customization is a community, and communities work better when you don't have to know every damn bit of "inside baseball" to fully appreciate a work.

    • @CatmeleonStudio
      @CatmeleonStudio  Год назад +2

      I totally agree. Why being ashamed of the fact that someone inspired us? As you said - it can provide the context and explain the train of thoughts that lead to this particular design. It definitely should be a normal thing to do.

  • @p.b.6702
    @p.b.6702 Год назад +1

    Nah, giving credit doesn't take long, and listening inspirations take even less time! There is just no excuse...
    Sharing other ppl works it's how artist get to were they are, we all get inspired by other and give inspiration, and we all should just say it out loud!
    It's a win win situation!
    I feel like those who may disagree on this idea are ppl who want to get all the credit, the praise..
    since there is no way one can be inspired, pretty much do a similar work, and not say who inspired you.. Like, ppl will notice anyways, and will ask confirmation, and they will be having to eventually say it.. So why not just do it from minute 1? It's so simple!

    • @CatmeleonStudio
      @CatmeleonStudio  Год назад +1

      Exactly. Art communities here on YT are not as huge as people may think. Viewers know the artists they follow and they will notice if someone else’s work will be clearly inspired by work of the creator they admire. I know I do notice when I see artists that I love being copied. And of course I am talking only about clearly visible inspiration, like 70-80% of copied design choices. Same elements, same outfits for example, but different pose maybe. We were all inspired by many things at some point, but heavy inspirations just should be credited. Glad that so many people agree with me on this topic ❤️
