Brings back so many memories .... Sitting BETWEEN the wheels leaning on the mudguard / fender (not)listening to the engine roar - to get an extra dimension of perception of load to adjust the draft control - Huh - and we need 4WD now? LOOK - 2Wd without duals AND a Trailed Plow - no hydraulic draft control here - just weight transfer thru' speed. we can learn a lot from some of these good videos. Many thanks
Cool looking old Mini-Mo. Just something about an old tractor rolling across the field with a chrome straight pipe. It sounds really good under the load of that plow. My favorite way to hear them. LOL You got some pretty good footage of her, I can almost smell the diesel & dirt. LOL
Your videos are great. I love watching them. But this is the best one of all....brings back so many memories...crisp day plowing in the field before cabs were common on tractors, and the wonderful sound from the large displacement of the motor. Kudos to the lucky owner of this tractor, I love how he compensates for the missing air cleaner cover.
That must be some heavy dirt out there in Iowa. My old 806 would runs away with 5-16s in our heavy black jack. Pretty cool seeing an old Moline out and about. Not to many in my area, much less one this size. There's still a bunch of Olivers and Whites running around though.
God I love these tractors. I have two G1355’s. One with singles and fender fuel tanks, the other with duals and a cab. Talk about head turners through a 5in chrome stack
That is a very cool tractor to have. The Toy Tractor Times Magazine is making a 1/16 model of the G940 this year. BTP filmed a collection this fall with a G850 in it.
they were the good old days when the bigger tractors were coming in and great to see them thanks for your video. I have a comment though how could a operator stand the sound for eight hours or more coming out of that straight pipe while working the field is beyond me.
This farm runs modern Challenger tractors. They are Minneapolis-Moline enthusiast and collectors. They were very nice to set aside part of a field to plow for a BTP video.
canvids1 Did it for years on lots of different tractors and a couple of dozers. I have some mid range hearing loss in my left ear. That's from looking over my right shoulder. HD11 Allis dozer was the loudest and an 8000 Ford with a tin can cab was an echo chamber. I use ear plugs occasionally now. Today's cabs are wonderful.
The Olivers and Molines had similar horse power ratings. MM had a front forward design where Oliver was more compact. White Motors discontinued the Oliver 2150 in 1969 and replaced it with the Oliver 2155 which was a G-1350 painted green.
Crazy part is these tractors had an N/A 585ci motor puttin out 140 hp when jd 6030 only had 531ci but was turbo'd puttin out 180 hp. Imagine if the g1355 was turbo'd and intercooled. It would have been a monster
The Moline engine was big. They used it in the big 2wd s and 4wds. It’s interesting how companies geared tractors in the top range in 1972 from 139 Hp in the G-155 to 175 Hp like the 6030.
Funny story on the plow bottom count. When I arrived at the field I asked how many bottoms the plow was. The dad said 6 bottom. But... it was not pulling well so the son had switched over to a 5 bottom that afternoon. I was filming and the plow was moving so I did not count as I was narrating live.
They made the G1000 in a vista model with an even higher operator’s platform over the regular, but I think they moved to a higher platform altogether with later models
That Minneapolis Moline G1350 for having 180 horsepower, those back tires should be 20in tires on the back of that tractor, and it would give it more traction with less tire slipping
They did make a cabbed tractor but idk if they came with a/c from the factory but my buddy had 1 and it had a cab and a/c but idk if it was factory. And idk if oliver did I think white was the main 1 with cabbed tractors and they are the same thing just a little newer
Seems he said 5 bottom Plow Then near the end of the video he said 6 bottom plow also mentioned they added a Turbo .. I noticed it was not smoking much ..
@@billloomis4975 This thing could probably pull a much bigger plow as you dont even hear it bog once. I've seen a 1350 win a tractor pull without breaking a sweat for its weight class.
I only count 5 bottoms on that plow myself. I rewound the film 3 times to make sure I wasn't mishearing something or seeing incorrectly. I wasn't. It's a 5 bottom.
Lovely sound and tractor but how come that ploughing in northamerica looks terrible? New or old equipment The furrows are uneven, straw is not turned down? Can't just be soildifferenses or?
Sam Magedanz cant be true, most US made umplements doesnt work here because off hard clay in The soul, many have tried cultuvators but doesn't work. But you can get an old Oliver plough work fine but never nearby as good as a Kverneland for example.
Funny you mention that. I've always wondered why Europeans are so into making perfect furrows right down to the millimeter. I understand taking pride in your work, but I cant imagine plowing several hundred acres of ground and stopping 50 times worrying about everything being absolutely perfect. Fall tillage would be done by mid summer. Do those perfectly even and exact depth furrows really help produce that much more during the growing season? We're going to disc it anyway and break up any residue left. Most of us here don't plough very often or even at all. I guess some of my opinion comes from watching those crazy ploughing competitions, but I understand that's not farming it's a competition. I do enjoy seeing and hearing about the differences in the way people farm in other parts of the world. I'm sure we all have lots to learn from each other.
I never did like to see a plow raised out of the ground because of traction problems. He seems to have plenty of power, why don't he add some weight to the rear wheels?
We messed up on that one. The farm has a 6 bottom and a 5 bottom plow. It was hard to see while filming because of sun glare. Still cool to see an Oliver plow in action.
I want to film every thing from a Ford 8n to a Big Bud 747. If you look through my video library in the past week I shared an Oliver 1600 and a White 195 Work Horse. This spring I shared a JD 4255, Case 2390, IH 1086, IH 5288 etc….
I was thinking the same thing had a neighbor that had a 1000 and he pulled 7 we have a hundred and ten horsepower that we pull five with in heavy gram if I'm not mistaken he said this tractor was turboed up to 180 but this was always my opinion of mm around our area big enough for way more work but not capable of doing it
This farm has those models in their line up too. They have a great collection including a yellow A4T-1600 we did a short video on. Thank you for watching. I enjoy watching your channel.
Oh we so fortunate today. What choice do we really have? Deere, Deere and Deere? That's how I like success served up! " We're going to produce for the top 10% of farmers ". Right. And most were stupid enough to subscribe. Now. What are your choices? Whatever they offer.
Nice machine but big and noisy. Without hearing protection he will end up with permanent hearing loss. It might sound cool for a minute or two but after that it is just noise. To bad Minneapolis Moline is just a part of history now.
+Douglass Wilkin there was a mix up on that. It had a 6 bottom the day before but they switched to a 5 bottom. Filming into the sun I did not see they switched plows.

gotta love those big molines love hearing that big six sing
with that straight pipe he*ll be hearing it for days
Love seeing old iron still running strong. Good video.
I keep counting that Oliver 6 bottom plow and I keep coming up with 5!
Oh that turbo! It's nice to see the molines still working. I want a g1000 vista or g1355
Always cool going back and seeing your old videos especially open station big power 2wd tractors!
I am always looking for these classics at work.
These were (and remain) the most powerful and efficient tractors of all time.

This G-1350 is a true 1979’s classic for sure.
What’s this cab everyone is talking about . Is it a myth or for real
Boy you get around! Thanks for showing us the video! I enjoyed it!
That open cab and straight pipe has to be a hearing aide saleman's dream come true
Robert Long A pair of Howard Leight, Thunder 29's, would take care of the noise. They're all day comfortable to wear.
Robert Long what!
Love NE Iowa and that’s a cool tractor. My favorite video yet.
Great farming area.

That is awesome. The G-1355 is one of my all time favorite tractors. I hope to get a chance to film a G-1355 in the field some day. Where do you farm?
Gota be one of my favs MM 1350 series
It’s a cool tractor.
Love that sound !!
sou do Brasil não existe esse trator aqui conheci ele atravéz do jogo Fs22 e me apaixonei que máquina 🇧🇷
Great looking tractor!
Love that tractor, Very Rare. We have a G750 only 220 made. We are working on restoring it. Your quite a ways from home.

A real monster! Extreme good sound and much power!
Minneapolis-Moline made good tractors.
I would love to go to Iowa to the toy show and just to see the farming up there
i like this tractors end video very good ciao
Love the sound of those big Molines and the sight of that dark iowa soil.
+Larry Hurley thank you for watching. I have another Moline video on the way this month on an A4T-1600.
They do have the plow in the ground
Like a dinosaur from the past. Now days it's a small tractor. But sure has a nice sound
Yeah, but it was a real horse when it was new!
Mighty Mo she is a beast!
Maneje uno de estos los años sesenta cloh de mano igual al grasias por el recuerdo era un niño grasias amigo RC
Good to see a farm with a strip of grass between fields and possibly a lane.
Perfect match !!! Moline means torque !!!!!!
old school power! that's awesome. open platform and straight pipe! I would have to get some ear muffs. you would get hard of hearing in a hurry! lol
Beautiful tractor, like those fat front tires. It's a huge field for one tractor, or was there more in the field?
Good video
Would be awesome If there would be minneapolis molines in Finland, too!
heck your right in my back yard :)
I do love to hear those 585 blocks run
My dad used to plow with a ford 7600 and a four bottom plow
Dünyanın en iyi Traktör ü...
MM, worlds finest tractor...
+Charles Dziki it's always great to see an MM at work. Hopefully BTP will find more to film.
this was down by Dyersville, Iowa???
Did this tractor have the "split-jug" 6 cyl in it? Always heard those were great motors. Looks like a set of duals on the left side would help.
Machi74005 yes the classic “three block” 585 cubic in moline diesel.
GO BIG MO !!!!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍
Fantastic.
That tractor is bad ass tractor . I love MM tractors
They are tough. This farm has an A4T-1400 and a G-1355 too
nice !
Welcome to Iowa, BTP.
Thank you. It is a great state.
Seems like the Moline was the big tractor and the Oliver's were the smaller hay farmer type of tractor
The Olivers and Molines had similar horse power ratings. MM had a front forward design where Oliver was more compact. White Motors discontinued the Oliver 2150 in 1969 and replaced it with the Oliver 2155 which was a G-1350 painted green.

All of those MM weights 💪
👍👍
good plowing ......great soil
No plowing "sugar sand" here !
Now that's what good dirt looks like...nice and dark. Not black like north central Iowa, but it does the trick.
It is good soil. I just filmed corn cultivating on this farm. Very nice soil between the rows of corn.
Solid
Yes sir.enjoyed the video. 5 or 6 dont matter.wonder if tires are loaded?

Plenty power. Litte ground slip.couple spots. Nice tractor.must be why switched the 6 to 5. Why i wondering if tires loaded.hardly working it
What's the size of those front tires?
I have a question for all of you? did Moline make that tractor in a Vista model?
They made the G1000 in a vista model with an even higher operator’s platform over the regular, but I think they moved to a higher platform altogether with later models
That Minneapolis Moline G1350 for having 180 horsepower, those back tires should be 20in tires on the back of that tractor, and it would give it more traction with less tire slipping
The G1350 is 143 hp. It is a stout tractor.
nice
Maybe you guys can answer a question I have, did MM ever make a tractor with Cab and Air Conditioning, Im pretty sure Oliver did.
They did make a cabbed tractor but idk if they came with a/c from the factory but my buddy had 1 and it had a cab and a/c but idk if it was factory. And idk if oliver did I think white was the main 1 with cabbed tractors and they are the same thing just a little newer
When was the Minneapolis Moline video taken
November 2016
Must have a lost a mould board since i started watching
6 furrow really!! i only count 5
Seems he said 5 bottom Plow Then near the end of the video he said 6 bottom plow also mentioned they added a Turbo .. I noticed it was not smoking much ..
@@mikeskidmore6754 The 1350 came from the factory with a turbo.

vafaningetnamnledigt here in the USA plowing gets done very rarely and the ground is harder and cloddyer

Oh yeah I still farm with A Farmall Super M a plain M and other vintage stuff. Newest piece is a 75 Gleaner. Love seein the old stuff at work.
Big tractor or small man? :)
Engine mark?
yes I liked It
Hey man that tractor isn't 500 hp and four wheel drive how did it happen to get a video from you

Like to see a twenty one fifty Oliver or a one hundred thirty o six Deutz pull the same plow.
were is this at in eastern Iowa?
Near Dyersville
Oh alright, Im south of Vinton a couple miles, if you kind know were that is?
Would this tractor engine be the 585 cu in?
Billy G yes the 585 moline, no turbo or inter cooler
You cant mistake the sound of a big 6 Lung Moline for anything else.
you need a moline now too buddy
Ide take a G1355 or a G1000 Vista
yeah i would too maybe someday but first i want a 1206 ih
Oliver66FarmBoy same here man, a g1000 vista is on my list!
This farm has those models in their line up too. They have a great collection including a yellow A4T-1600 we did a short video on.

Need to use the fingers on both hands to count to 6
Ear protection?
bazgino what?!! Haha
Back then we rode in the bed of pickups, drank from garden hoses, didn’t use eye or ear protection...we died like real men!
That's a 5 bottom plow folks.
+rockinhonda I messed up on that one. When I arrived for filming they said 6 bottoms. They had been running a 6 bottom but switched to a 5.
looks like a 5 bottom to me
That is impressive
Correction the plow is a oliver 540 pull type plow.
Hmmm a recount of bottoms is needed
Yes. The farm has a 6 16 but the 5 16 was hooked up.
imenriched Good catch.
In all honesty adding another bottom behind this tractor probably wouldn't have made much of a difference. 2-3 more to really make it "work"
put the cover back on the air cleaner can and that fancy turbo II precleaner might do something
It must be @ the shop w/the other 16" mouldboard😮
Part Oliver part MM
This 1350 is all Moline. The G1355 that cane next is a Moliver.

and those that are famous for the fact that not plow the soil
Nice video man! That's not something ya see every day.
Needs some extra rear axle weight.
The front tires look like they belong on a 2-180 Field Boss
Wash your mouth out :)
These 16.5Ls I have seen on the front of a John Deere 6030/4840.What kind of a....

I hope he is wearing ear plugs..
When White did the hostile takeover it was the end of Minnie Mo.
David Sapp Just think if they where still making stuff today
Oliver and Cockshutt, too.

Needs wider tires.Too much slippage. Pulling a 5-16 Oliver, not 6-16. Need 8-16. wasting fuel and time.
He’d do better to put duals cause wider tires such as flotation tires can make it slip worse than what it does now
Moldboard plowing is a total waster of time. Nice video though.
Doodles. Why ?
Plowing has lots of advantages and can be the best way to build up land and is better for the land than no till or disking and doing stuff like that
