  • This was our "Jig Thursday" selection from July 11, 2024. Nora Crionna (Crionna means ‘wise’ in Irish) is a smart little jig in G. It was recorded by Eddie Moloney in 1972 and then Willie Clancy and Mary Bergin. There’s a Wise Nora tune in O’Farrell’s Pocket Companion, published in the late 1700s. But that’s a pretty different tune. The end of the B part the second time around has a handsome little variation that reminds us of Charlie Lennon.

We started this 'series' on a diff social media platform. We wanted to share a few of our favorite tunes, and record them in a minute (so we could share the whole thing). It's such a small little project. But it's been fun to blast through a few of our very favorite jigs. We're putting the vids up on YT, for folks who want an easier way to search for titles.
