I've been trying to decide between the two different NDI models that AVKANS makes, so this is helpful. I like the import/export feature to set up multiple cameras quickly. I think I've settled on this model.
The free ONVIV manager software might access the camera. I wish I had one to try. The price is so crazy good to have NDI. The cameras I use if we were to get the NDI version they don't the usb webcam option which is a handy thing to have to just plug and go to a pc that you don't have NDI software on like in a meeting or conference situation. NDI tools has PTZ control on the studio manger which is very handy
Excellent, thanks for the detailed review! I normally go right to PTZOptics for my NDI installations (unless they opt for a full Tricaster rig) but they are 3x the money.. not for every client. These might fit in the budget of some smaller clients that normally wouldn't be able to afford a PTZ setup. Did you happen to do any testing in low-light situations (theaters, clubs, etc.)?
Hi, thanks for the review...you are really helping us narrow our options. Quick couple of questions: How have you found this camera to perform in the long term...it is still holding up after a year now? Also, does this put HDMI out at the same time as NDI...and is audio embedded in those outputs? Are there better PTZ cameras you would recommend at a similar price point? (ie something from FoMaKo or SMTAV) Thanks!
When using an NDI camera, is NDI a protocol you can use to control the cameras with an IP controller? Or do you use VISCA/ONVID etc always. Getting lost in the jargon
Hello! I need an advice. I'm responsible of streaming for a SDA Church in Romania. We have 3k $ and have to choose between: 1. 2 FoMaKo NDI 30x zoom PTZ cameras + FoMaKo controller ~2.500$ 2. Canon CR N300 NDI 30x zoom (4k 30fps) ~ 3.000$ 3. Marshall Electronics CV630 NDI 30x zoom (4k 60FPS) ~ 3.000$ Are the Canon and Marshall that better to consider getting one single camera than a 2 camera + controller kit? We are going to use them with an Atem Mini for church live streaming.
So the ones I noted were the lack of audio on anything but the IP stream and some limitations to how VISCA works. Other than that it has most every feature you'd expect.
Excellent review. My one question is the "one cable" option - you mentioned POE+ which I understand means power + data through the network, but does that also mean a separate HDMI cable is unnecessary? Sorry if this is a super basic question, but this is all new territory for me! (My venue is a 75-seat theatre that can be used for lectures, panel sessions, and performances.)
If you use a CAT cable, you can power, control, and get video feed via NDI protocol. HDMI would be unnecessary if you have a network where you can exploit NDI for your streaming application
Hi there, we bought this camera and used for the 1st time in church today. Went well so thanks for recommending. Couple of questions though, we use OBS and the camera feeds in over NDI. 1) When I zoom in the faces are over exposed because of the dark blue curtain behind, when zoomed out the brightness is good. Also I noticed when I panned to an outside shot it was way to bright. 2) Camera is of centre and makes the picture look not level is there away this can be adjusted or any htoughts of how to over come this issue, it can't go in the centre. The auto exposure on all these cameras can be a bit hit and miss. You are at the mercy of what it chooses to prioritize. Only real option is to use manual exposure. Most controllers have a dial for that and it works well. I would love it if you could add a manual exposure setting to a preset, and suggested that to multiple manufacturers, but nothing yet. As for the tilt, not really anything in camera you can do unfortunately.

Absolutely missing this important test. From the preview it seemed dynamic range wasn't great, face blown. Exposure comp might help.

What is the latency of PTZ camera?
Also can you connect ptz via hdmi to projector for real time video?
@Foundery How is the Picture Quality? and is it good in Low to Mid Light?
Did you find out?
@@JohnDoe-ky4qk yes i idd i got the same camera and its amazing pictire quilty
How’s the picture quality of this compared to the budget Fomako PTZ camera?
Pretty much the same. They both use the same Sony image sensor.
@@Foundery Thank you! Love your channel!
I'm about to purchase this. DId it come with a wall mounting plate?
Thanks for the video.
Yes
Can this camera be controlled with a Avkans joystick?

Can u set whitebalance? Didn't see that in the controller software
I just purchased one. Can it be mounted upsided down?

Why not try AVKANS, same quality but much better price.
can you please review SKU: BG-UPTZ-ND12X-B and do a more in depth on zoom stuff. distances included.
please sir 😎
Very well explained. Can you make a list of features this misses against the standard version so one can compare.

Find me a setup like this please for Mac or iPad ❤
I need you help sir
how to connect the sound
I do not see mic there
Why does mine keep saying connecting failed every single time
How well does the internal mic pick up?
There is no internal mic. Just a line in.
@@Foundery thank you! Have you ever tried to use this camera with a security system? And how well does the audio stitch together with the video?
because it’s PC only is that a dealbreaker?
It would be for us as we are a Mac only shop. Wish they were a little more forthcoming about it.

Question. (not in response to you question but regarding your review and the video link). Roughly how far away is your camera set up from the singers?
@@jeremyweaver4651 About 8 meters

I thank you for your video but you jump over a LOT of the finer points of how to make this work.
