Literally was just watching the making of DOOM music documentary thing for like, the fifth time to hear the awesome way you played e1m1 lower, then went to the doom subreddit, found this song and whaddaya know, you JUST commented, nice.
fucking love this remix kept the traditional melody and added just enough of yall take on it but really gives u that iwanna kill something feel and the slow down or breakdown makes u feel like you killed everything but the end is is still far away to come good job guys
I can't stop listening to this. This is undoubtedly the best version I've heard yet... ..and MAC.. DUUUUDE.. You look as if you're having an absolute blast and the machine gun thing you do starting @ 00:38 is just jaw dropping. I only have one issue.. it NEEDS to be longer. :D Mac, Gabriel, thank you for da tunez.
This is why I Like this, DooM Was always among my favourite games because the music was always the best among the best games. Best among thrashing out to.
I like that there was just enough dubstep in the cover to make it interesting and new but that it didn't get in the way of the metal. Because doom IS metal!! Great job!! Now I got to go do something violent.
I see a lot of comments with people guessing at the inspiration behind the original E1M1 music-- so for those wondering, the song was directly inspired by the song "Behind the Crooked Cross" by Slayer (the riff is nearly identical). Both E1M1 and Behind the Crooked Cross are excellent songs by very talented people!
Finally a version of At Doom's Gate that hasn't been slowed down and not half the notes are inaudible, or random garbage notes added, or with bad (imho) vocals.
Fucking awesome man! \m/ Mainly thought of Daniel Tidewell's cover with vocals as being the best, but you just took number 1 man. You and Gabriel Leopardi did a brutal job on this! XD
Hey, Mike! It's been a while! It's good to see that you've been working hard. I think I will be picking up the guitar soon as well, so keep up the great work!
I just emailed this video to Bobby Prince (original composer for Doom). I really want him to hear this. I feel like this is what he must have had in his mind back then, but was too limited by technology at the time.
Upon its original release, Doom was just a few megabytes large, split over multiple floppy disks. They were limited to almost exclusively using midi sequencers to meet the file size requirements. They could not use a recording from an electric guitar without heavily compressing it, which would have distorted the sound beyond recognition.
COWABUNGA!!!

I just emailed this video to Bobby Prince (original composer for Doom). I really want him to hear this. I feel like this is what he must have had in his mind back then, but was too limited by technology at the time.
Awesome, lemme know if you get a response! John Romero, one of the original programmers, saw it too which is pretty cool.
limited by technology? There were electric guitars in 1993?
Upon its original release, Doom was just a few megabytes large, split over multiple floppy disks. They were limited to almost exclusively using midi sequencers to meet the file size requirements. They could not use a recording from an electric guitar without heavily compressing it, which would have distorted the sound beyond recognition.
Loved the intro! Reminds me a lot of theme from the Resident Evil movie by Marco Beltrami and Marilyn Manson.
Thanks! Definitely getting the Marilyn Manson vibes.
This is dope!
