    This video reminded me of the 'living energy machine", one of the first videos I ever saw on you-tube. It's still up with only 84 subscribers and 12 comments. There was a design I saw in a book in the 80s where ropes were attached to the tops of several tall trees. They were routed through pulleys to a flywheel. When the trees would move in the wind the ropes would pull and turn the ratcheted flywheel. If those two designs were combined with your serpentine rotor that would be quite a thing.🌬🌴🌪⚡

      @@Sedgewise47 I'm sorry, I don't remember. It was published in the 70's, tall and thin. I got it from a library, don't have a copy. Maybe someone else can help. I remember the working part was in the center of the trees it was hooked up to. When any of the six or seven trees swayed away from it the pulling of the ropes did work. Intermittent motion from several sources converted to rotary motion. It might have been designed to pump water. It was so pre-computer, my searches on the subject haven't worked. Some other old guy might know?... The ropes didn't move very far, only a few feet, but they had considerable force.

    Thanks for the video. I was one of the people asking for the flywheel.. When you started showing off the rotor with feather design I immediately wondered if this pull type of flywheel generator could be pushed by the feather rotor (or multiple rotors stacked). Is there a way to push the flywheel when force is enacted on the feathers and release when there is no wind or the flywheel is spinning faster than the feather rotor. Seems like that would be a great way to get many times more work out of wind's energy.. The compactness/density of these latest projects is amazing. A decent little power source in the form factor of a large coffee can. Great work sir.

    Robert, could you reduce the friction using magnetic bearings? Thrust bearings are good but if you can levitate the rotor and even center it using magnets it might perform better. Just a thought.

    • @DavyOneness
      @DavyOneness Год назад +4

      Can't levitate AND have a flywheel this heavy at sametime. If you use too strong of magnets it is going to mess with the fields you are trying to use

    • @ogi22
      @ogi22 Год назад +1

      @@DavyOneness That's exactly what i thought. Any metal flywheel within the proximity to magnets strong enough to lift it, would create eddy currents.

    • @bikerfirefarter7280
      @bikerfirefarter7280 Год назад

      @@DavyOneness yes you can. The levitation fields are not 'cut' by the windings nor do they create eddy currents. Try it with a couple of old microwave or speaker magnets, the only issue is keeping them centralised. Anyway the fields can easily be shielded.

    Just a comment about flywheel generators, not far from me there was a larger older coal-fired generation station with five big steam turbine generator sets. A while ago three of the turbines were converted to natural gas and two were partially decommissioned. The two generators were retained as flywheel storage to manage the supply vs demand instead of trying to follow the demand by regulating the steam supply closely. When the demand declines the excess power is diverted to the two freewheeling generators to increase rpm. Then if the demand suddenly returns, the power stored in the spinning generators is used for immediate supply.

    Next try is to put this machine together with your flat wind turbine. I think that two things will happen, one is the flywheel will generate a more constant speed for a longer period, two the flywheel will keep the the mechanism from running away in higher velocity winds. I also thought if you include your magnetically enhanced system, your machine would be self powered for a longer period of time.
    For me, living in one of the five windiest spots in the world, this might give me some power day or night. You have gotten my creative thought juices going. I enjoy you videos immensely, some day I would like to start working on some of your ideas and mind. Thanks again.

    Flywheel energy storage appears best situated for freqency regulation, because of how fast it can respond to changes in demand. Some data centers use it as part of their uninterrupted power supply as they can't afford any downtime and chemical batteries have a relatively short life compared to flywheel.

There are several alt-energy concepts I've seen around the web I want to try so am brushing up on my electronics knowledge in order to do them. About this one, I'm wondering whether you've measured the amount of electrical energy a pull like you've done amounts to and if it is less than the total energy output by the wheel, perhaps a portion of that energy could be used to give the wheel a push at regular intervals? Perhaps in an electromagnet or something similar?

    Could you try this design but horizontal on a bike to test the volts/amps you get? More weight, more weight circumference, maybe 2 or more motors in parallel
    Use planetary gears and electric motor for infinite gears. Capacitor bank to store power and charge a battery
    A system like this would work well for an E bike in my opinion but I'd be more than happy if you just were able to test the concept for a bike generator. It'd be hard to start the wheel spinning but once you've got it going you can seamlessly switch through gears which could potentially allow you a rudimentary control of the volt/Amp output when combined with combined with pedal speed
