7 years old and still very helpful. Just started route setting and was struggling hard because each person had a different way of doing this. Your way is the easiest and clearest that ive been shown. Thank you!

Only person I have seen explain the importance of placing the strand at the top of the knot... about time somebody dressed it properly!! Nice work ;)

Yes and this is extremely important, otherwise when one anchor point breaks, that loop will disappear and the rope can get burned.

Excellent video, thanks for sharing! Good on you for emphasizing that the bunny ear part has to end up ON TOP and NOT at the bottom of those 2 lines. I've heard it's very important because it can be dangerous at the bottom with the way that it affects the knot and moves things around. Thanks for sharing the great refresher!

Thanks for the video and great explanation! I do industrial SPRAT and had to rig something today and really needed this but had to use some alpine butterfly's instead.

I have found that this and the Spanish Bowline the loops slip. In a rescue video it was mentioned that a victim must grab BOTH loops or put both feet into the loops.
I've been following your videos for a year now and they are the BEST

Nice explanation. Also when the loop is accidentally put to the bottom of the knot instead of the top, both anchor loops can relatively easily slide so in case one anchor point gets broken accidentally, that loop will be completely shrink under the load and the second loop (in the good anchor point) will be prolonged. This might damage or melt down the rope heavily in the extreme case.

Appreciate the extra tip about properly dressing the knot.
As some climbers like to say, "A not neat knot need not be knotted."

my rope access teacher says it is better at the top so you can pull on it easy to make both ears exactly even

you're the first person, on RUclips, that far I've seen to tie a figure 8/ bunny's ears and dress the knot properly. Frustrating to see people teach "how to" when they do not dress the knot properly. A badly dressed knot compromises the integrity of said knot

That's very true about properly dressing a knot. This is the first I've heard of dressing the knot this way, despite knowing the knot very well. Never realised I was doing it wrong. The same can be said for the importance of properly tightening a knot too, in many cases. As an example, they say a properly dressed and tightened Figure 8 bend does not need stopping.
