    Thank you for the recipes! One of my daughters came down with a terrible cold and cough over the weekend. I found using an immersion blender to blend the salve ingredients in a deep coffee mug worked much better for me for mixing the salve than my Vitamix with its 64 ounce pitcher. The Vitamix iwas simply too big to bring such a small amount of ingredients in contact with the spinning blades. We’ll see how it works. Right now DD, 10, is disappointed she can’t hide in our family game of hide ‘n seek tonight. Everyone says they can smell her even before they see her, lol!

    My mother mixed dry mustard with flour or cornstarch and put it on a cloth on my chest to loosen the tmcingestion. When I got pneumonia and could not tolerate any of the five antibiotics the Dr prescribed I took raw onion and cantaloupe. In two weeks my lungs were clear and my Dr was surprised.

      When cold or flu strikes the first thing I do is get to making chicken soup with lots of onion and garlic celery and carrots and I add the sage ( fresh) to the soup along with some spinach. I serve it with a squeeze of fresh lemon
      It usually will address whatever ails you, cough, runny nose,congestion, fever, sinus headache

Do you know how long the garlic will stink on you afterwards? If you wash, will it fade awaay quickly or no? Somethig tells me it will take time. Just wondering how long!

    I was wondering if you have any recommendations for an alternative to lavender oil for babies? I've never liked it and my baby couldn't stand it either, she'd cry and fuss more whenever I tried to use it for her few colds. She does love mint oils though (which I've been told not to use on babies) as I have it in my hand oil.

    Do you have a recipe for something called horse salve? My grandma always had it. I don’t know what it was made of. She used it for lotion, cuts, burns. I do t know if it was actually for horses. As a kid I thought it was called that because it was made from horses? Now as an adult I realize maybe it was made for horses 😬 she would get it from someone & stored it in an old pill bottle so no ingredient list. Thanks for all the information you share.

    Thank you so much for this video! It is very timely as my family has been hit hard with coughs this year. Question about the salve use on babies. I've heard that EOs should not be used on kids under 2 but there is Lavender EO in the salve. Have I heard incorrectly or what makes it baby safe in this instance? Thanks so much Carolyn!

      Lavender EO can be used on babies, but any EO should be used in a carrier oil (like in the salve Carolyn made) when using for babies. There are some good resources online and also a book on using EOs for babies. I think the author is a nurse.

    What about the blistering of the skin from the garlic?
    I was told to leave it uncovered when applied to skin.

    • @breathoflifefarm7197
      @breathoflifefarm7197 2 года назад +1

      The olive oil on the skin is to protect from irritation caused by garlic. You could try an extra layer of cloth between the poultice and the skin for someone who is extra sensitive.

    can you put the auximel(spelling?) into some hot water or tea if the taste is too much?

    • @BRANDYHAMILTONS
      @BRANDYHAMILTONS 8 месяцев назад

      Yes you could put the oxymel in a tea or turn into a tea but if you use raw honey make sure it's not hotter than 100 degrees or it will not be raw honey anymore which has much more medicinal benefits for us😊

      maybe chamomile?? I don't know if it would preserve the salve like she claims the lavender does, but it does have calming properties. I'm not an expert though, so just a suggestion.

    I make my own cough syrup but it's not for kids. It calls for honey, peppermint candy with real peppermint oil in it, horehound candy with real horehound herbal oil in it, lemon or lime juice 40 proof whiskey and for good measure fresh grind cracked black pepper.

    When I apply this when nursing, do I apply it to the breast before she nurses, or just apply it to her skin before each feed? This is okay to put on my 2 month old? The garlic salve I mean

    • @jbbrowneyes
      @jbbrowneyes Год назад

      I’m pretty sure she meant to apply externally…topically -directly to the feet,chest, back and throat of the baby as young as newborn. Applying every time you nurse is more about frequency, so that you do it enough times a day, so you really don’t need to apply it on your breast at all.

    Good information but I'd like to throw some constructive criticism your way... me and even my kids really didn't care for the side angle videos where you're looking the other direction it's really nice to watch you because you're so nice and honest and sincere but when it's a side angle it looks not personal... I know that's the new modern way to shoot videos for seminars and such but it just didn't seem to fit your personality LOL.... we just didn't like it so just to let you know that's our Viewpoint.... thanks Carolyn
