- Usually I don’t talk about anime on RUclips, but today I’m making an exception for Fuuto PI, the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name, both of which serve as the sequel to 2009’s Kamen Rider Double! The first episode premiered this last weekend with a simulcast release on Crunchyroll with English subtitles so I figured, hey, might as well talk about this first episode and give my thoughts on it! It was just so refreshing to see kamen rider in anime especially double since it was the first kamen rider I watched.
As someone whom just saw W before Fuuto PI it's really good I love the vibe of both show they are both done well

I showed Kamen Rider Double for the first time (Being her First KR season.) to my GF. She loves Double, and is happy to see this, and we watched it last night, we both love this show already, expect great things in the future.

I hope if this anime gets a good reception, Toei decide to produce another Kamen Rider Anime (not a sequel, spin-off, or alternate story) with a BRAND NEW ORIGINAL KAMEN RIDER. We already see how animation can solve many problem we found on most of the kamen rider shows. Animation has no limits, you can pretty much make an actual superpower fight, city-destroying beam to escalate the tension of the battle (and also much more pleasing to look at compared to cgi pasted on camera footage)
Apparently they are looking close at the ratings so they can know if it’s worth it for future US releases
Anyone else notice how OOO and Ex-Aid would be perfect for the Anime format though? Hell, I would not be opposed to a Anime version of the Kuuga Manga.

I’ve read this manga as well as the kuuga manga. It’s a interesting story, and it’s like the show if it was more mature we even get new forms that were not used in the main show. I’m excited to see how the anime brings new kamen rider fans and the action this anime will be exciting. And I do have a small hope that we can get a kamen rider w game using the designs from the anime. And I’m also excited for the new csm belts for w and accel
The world is not ready for a Kuuga anime based off the manga. The manga takes the original show and makes it even better...and bloodier. And I love it.

The episode was unexpectedly good for me since I had no idea what to expect from it.
As someone who both watched W and read the manga up to the next couple of episodes. I am just so happy seeing the 2 in 1 detectives back, though it is a bit unfortunate that the original actors are back I feel that the new ones still maintain the original performance and I can’t believe that they mitsuru matsuoka back

It's interesting to me to watch this video after watching the whole first season of Fuuto PI. I think it's an amazing follow-up to one of my very favorite Kamen Rider series. I also agree that seeing Begins Night animated was such a pleasant surprise and a truly hype moment
I love this episode. Not only did it balanced of it being a sequel and its own thing, but it also feels like W since I grew up with W.

Tokime's Gaia Memory is actually damaged and she can't turn into a dopant and she isn't responsible for either the killings or the other dimension. She is merely able to sense take advantage of the latter.
What's even funnier is the Memory it is, guess the Trump Card always goes to Shotaro doesn't it?

As a person who started getting into Kamen Rider with W years ago, this series makes me so happy. I really hope this becomes a gateway for more Kamen Rider fans in the future

i love it as i have watched a lot of fan henshin animation and it made me want an anime version of it and with Double which was the first rider I watched from start to finish it is very refreshing to see it as an anime since they can afford more stunning shot compared to live action

god DAMN! that Begins Night scene was badass! totally gave W the power you would think an entity like that would have. I definitely feel Studio Kai is good hands to adapt this manga

I've been a Tokusatsu and anime fan since childhood; Fuuto P.I. has the strongest first episode I've watched of any anime I've seen, and I cannot wait to see more of it. That Begins Night sequence gave me all I wanted to see in a Kamen Rider anime, and I was not disappointed in the slightest.
blown away by how mature it was double has serious potential in the darker genres.
Ive been keeping up with the manga and the first few arcs start off really slow but it really gets into it. I was at the studio Kai panel at anime expo and the creators definitely sounded like they were passionate about this project. So I pretty sure it’s going to be a good season.
Here’s hoping they adapt Kamen Rider Spirits next.
One advantage that an anime or animation in general have over any form of live action is that the impacts, if done right can become very powerful.
Yes a normal fight scene is raw and pure but its still like watching a bunch of guys fight, there is no indication of power, only suggestions and assumptions. Now to be fair yes there are feats that can be calculated to be extremely powerful but when it comes to normal punching and kicking animation is just superior.
Like yeah a stuntman can jump backwards after being punch but in the anime everyone gets thrown across the room from 1 punch and it just feels so powerful, you can feel the weight behind that.
Again I must reaffirm that I like live action fights but anime have their advantages and this is one of the smaller ones
I’ve read and see both the series and manga. Always a decade fan though
Fuuto PI could be a goldmine for the Kamen Rider franchise to further expand their mythos, as well as the Fuuto City and further use of the gimmick items unseen from the Live Action due to budget constraints. I'm looking forward to see Kamen Rider W use forms that he hadn't used before like say, Fang Trigger, Fang Metal, or heck, maybe even the fabled Cyclone Accel Extreme.

When I saw a re-introduction to Begins Night, I was hype as well. I loved how they skipped the majority of the talking and showed us the key elements of the event like the broken hat and the W Memories, and on top of that we get to see the Begins Night W Battle IN SHOW rather than needed a special for it (Which was my only solid complaint with the original show). And Hearing Xtreme also made me hype cause of the obvious fact that it brings Shotaro and Philip closer as partners/friends, and it reminded me that teleportation is something they can do now logically XD.
Personally, I cannot wait for EP 2 and seeing if they do new SFX for the henshin, or if they bring back the iconic callouts for the memories/forms.
But what I cannot wait to hear is the classic "Now, Count up your sins"
I’ve been waiting so long for a Kamen rider Anime and W looks pretty sweet in 2D animation. Here’s hoping this is the only the first Kamen Rider anime.
I've read like... the first two episode's worth of the original manga. Because that's all I could find translated. But damn I'm excited for this anime, if only for that reason!

i know bro, ITS AMAZING. :D plus i'd love to see Den-o in anime style. for real. with all the VAs who played the taro's and deneb and even sig's VA's comes back. too. plus it'd be amazing to see kamen rider in that style. :D cause all riders need more screen time. plus if OOO got an anime it would be about ANHK getting EJI back. cause those 2 are the most adorablist people i've ever seen.
This first episode is awesome. And for your information, this show is more heavily lean to the detective side of W rather than the usual toku side, so expect a lot more of human interaction rather than henshin and fight. I think it's a brilliant idea, because in toku live action, of course the main selling point is the henshin, battle and toys, so it's necessary to have at least 1 battle per episode and sometimes it can hurt the story, while in anime format, you can dedicated a whole episode only for the drama and you can also included some adult stuff that you can't show in live action. At least we got a remake of Begins Night, mirroring the 1st eps of W

Wait until you find out what that Memory Tokime has in her possession and it all makes sense why she ran into Shotaro. Here's a Hint, you can guess it by the colors if you look closely.
I have read a few chapters of the manga since there are some englisg translations, the original w, as well as all of neo hesei abit or hesei phase 1 some reiwa and a tiny bit of showa

The reason this anime worked is due to the author of the manga being the original scriptwriter for Kamen Rider W, Sanjo Riku, as well as being supervised by the original producer, Tsukada Hideaki serving as the anime's chief producer.
If those two who made Kamen Rider W what it was and still is being one of the most popular Kamen Rider shows in the Heisei Phase 2 era (starting with W in 2009-2010 and ended with Zi-O in 2018-2019), then this anime will be just as good as the original live action TV show (or ever better once we get to see more episodes).
It's just my wishful thinking, but I would love to see cameos of other Kamen Riders in the same Heisei Phase 2 era, or any era for that matter, to appear in this anime.
Oh yeah, the alternate dimension thing you mentioned? That's pretty much like the Mirror World in Kamen Rider Ryuuki. Maybe a homage to that?

Nice Review! Glad you enjoyed the episode. I think it's great they're animating Kamen Rider W as a full series. However it, the one thing that worries me is the marketing and story. The audience is very select and niche, as you have to watch W first to understand a few things. Newcomers might have a hard time watching the original W if they're not used to Toku effects and the overuse of CGI.
Also, the original W had quite a near perfect emotional ending to only be scraped and reversed in the last 2 eps, so hopefully the story for the sequel won't have a similar issue.
The first episode was great. It will be awesome once the build-up reaches its climax when the duo transform into W.

This episode was a great start into the series. I get that people wanted to see more of philip and W, but from my understanding the manga is structured in a less episodic manner because it's targeted towards an older demographic. Personally i enjoy the more mature themes, both in presentation and subject matter. Having seen episode two already, the darker themes and stronger emphasis on the danger of gaia memorys feel like a natural progression from the original series with its original audience now being young adults. You could say the series grew up with its viewers and, at least in my opinion, it worked out really well.
Kamen rider w is one of my favorite series of Kamen Rider you're my best friend watched it every time and premiered but my friend passed away before he even got a chance of seeing the anime anyways it's been a few years since he passed and kamen rider w was always one of his favorite series of Kamen Rider so I seen all of it except for this anime but personally it's not hard to catch up on it it's only a few episodes along so far
Seeing the office made me a little sad as the og building they used for the outdoor shots was torn down a few years ago. Otherwise a great episode for old and new fans.

who else thinks that fuuto pi's kamen rider w will look just as amazing as the original one?
Maybe not right away, but I looked. Well, that was cool. It is immediately evident that the same team worked on the manga and later anime as on W (except for the main scriptwriter Riky Sanjo, the design of the Dopants, as in the original, was developed by Katsuya Terada, who could not resist the temptation to create monsters without live-action restrictions). Very competently added 3D, almost does not stand out from the background of the picture. I also liked the action, although it is unusual that the transformation was only in a flashback. Bloodiness and erotica were also unaccustomed, but if you perceive the anime as a continuation for the older audience of the original show, then just what you need.
I also liked a lot of small references, like the inscription "Ishinomori" on the container and characters familiar from W. What a great voice Watcherman has! Well, the fact that the denouement of the story will be in the next episode should not even be surprising: a two-episode format that worked so well in the original that it simply cannot be abandoned.
Now I want Kamen Rider OOO to get a manga/anime adaptation someday
Well, if you thought the fountain shower scene was too much, well in the manga this scene was even more explicit with actual nipple tits. Yeap, there's nudity in the manga ... some gore moments. Yeah, Fuuto Pi was written for an older audience who grew up on W. And there's a possibility that in the blue ray release they might really be an uncensored version.
The fountain scene was too much? Lol. It can't compare to nude scenes in 80s anime.

The only Kamen Rider series I watched was Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, but it was the dub release, favorite knight was Wing Knight
ngl this first episode is amazing and Im waiting for the Henshin scene it's gonna wicked both for Tokusatsu fan and anime fan although there this thing that some people still think that this anime is not the sequel of Kamen Rider W 2009

I mean, there's now an English translation of the manga's first 20-ish chapters, so you can read it now.
Ive read abit of the manga in anticipation so i do know the reason for the second city and tokime deal. But regardless its wonderful. My brother would probably be super into kamen rider but he doesnt like watching subs cause hes got adhd. Im hoping futto pi gets a dub not for a superiority thing but just so its even more accessible

While I loved all the detailed shots of tokime the whole episode felt like a new spin on an old favorite

the only thoughts that i have on it im disappointed that they didn't have any transformed fight scene ya sure at the opening but we've seen it before in the show and in a special but i want a new henshine and fight scene from this
PI stands for private investigater, I believe.
I will say the end could have had them pull cyclone and joker memories, then have it end there

Fuuto PI hands down an awesome anime, knowing it's from the manga, Ho ho boy I can assure you.. you are on a fucking ride...
Episode 1 has a spotlight on shotaru because the early arc is gonna be shotaru with the witch girl. If you're wondering, yes. she's gonna be pretty much there for a while...you know testing shotaru's hard boiled stuff... While the anime only shows her somewhat naked, you can actually get the full body in the manga ;) If you're also curious enough you can actually find translations manga up to i think chapter 8 so enjoy...
The visuals of the anime is goddamn so beautiful, it looks very pleasing and i like that they actually stick to the manga style and it's also pretty nice that we get to see the other characters from the OG, Though i dont remember philip's hair colour being green, i probably forgot about that or something, It's been 3 years since i last watched it... The fact that they remade the early iconic scenes from the original makes my eyes tear up. it looks so cool.
If I was to nitpick what I dont like is that, I was pretty dissapointed that they didnt have the original actors to play the role but I guess they probably coundlt reach to the og actors so they had to find VA instead. I mean they're not bad but to me it just sounded so weird to have shotaru voice like a jojo character...
If you're curious, this manga's timeline takes place after the movie. which if you're interested and want to have a rough knowledge of the series... you can start by watching the series, then watch the movie and then jump to this anime here. Id say that the spin off and cross over you dont really need to, but you can still watch it for more lore details in kamen rider w
( I dont wanna spoil much but it is still spoilers if i tell you and i just wanna give a heads up... so here's spoilers if you're interested....)
The rest of the fight is gonna be a real treat, depends on how long we're gonna have this anime for, we might be treated with double's new forms, Fang Metal and Fang Trigger and stuff...
Besides that, if you find it uncomfortable with the bath scene already... dont worry cuz the manga aint holdin back as things gets more spicier and brutal later in the manga, how much they're gonna cover it i dont know.
You know, it's funny that you mentioned JoJo, because they got Daisuke Ono, the voice actor for Teddy/Neotaros of the Kamen Rider Den-O movies and Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Parts 3-6, to come back to Kamen Rider for the Fuuto PI anime.

I wonder if we get an anime version of Kamen Rider Ryuki and then they bring to America as the anime version of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight and bring the original American cast back I would love to Stephen and Matt come back to Reprise there roles as kit Taylor and Len respectfully

So kamen rider finally went full anime. What took them so long?
