Looking forward to more discussions on Sri Aurobindo's works from Swami Medhanandaji. Absolutely enthralling to listen to the synthesis between the traditions.
I joyfully learned about Ramakrishna and Vivekananda thanks to Sri Aurobindo, all of which helped me understand my own experiences. I was blessed to be friends with Dr Spiegelberg who brought Sri Aurobindo's teachings by one of his great students, Haridas Chaudhuri and his wife Bina, to the U.S. west coast (through AAS, CIF, and CIIS). So grateful to Swami Medhanandaji to know these teachings are continuing to so many. I highly recommend his classes at the Vedanta Life Academy.
Brilliantly brought out the connection between the three greats. Sri Aurobindo also said that Sri Ramakrishna's birth ended Kali Yuga and heralded the start of Sathya Yuga. Don't miss listening to Sri Aurobindo's Gayatri Mantra. Thanks to the speaker for bringing out these nuances so eloquently. And yes, we know what fortnightly means 😅
Swamiji, My deepest Pranam to Sri Thakurji and to you all One of the best writing of sri Aurobindo is His work called “The Mother” Comprehending this is the key to all Yoga including His ‘Integral Yoga’ Aspiration, Rejection and Surrender to the Divine are the key emphasis which is the fundamental of Yoga. Chapter 4 ,a short chapter , can bring Transformation and a guarantee that the Divine Shakti can transform the aspirants. A thing irresistible in the spiritual journey My deepest Pranam to You All Your this lecture has touched my Heart
You have missed to mention one more comment of Sri Aurobindo on Sri Ramkrishna " In the life of Ramkrishna Paramahansa, we see a colossal spiritual capacity, first driving straight to the divine realisation, taking, as it were, the kingdom of heaven by violence, and then seizing upon one Yogic method after another and extracting the substance out of it with an incredible rapidity, always to return to the heart of the whole matter, the realisation and possession of God by the power of love, by the extension of inborn spirituality into various experience and by the spontaneous play of an intuitive knowledge."
The element of freshness of manana, and the spirit of synthesis which is dominant in the spiritual endeavour of India is so present in this young Swamiji. Before Sri Aurobindo was taken to Alipore jail he used to keep at head of his bed earth he brought from Dalshineshwar....
It's great to hear when you state emphatically that Sri Aurobindo belonged to the same spiritual lineage as of Sri Ramakrishna and Swamiji given he was launched on the Spiritual path by Sri Ramakrishna and it was Swamiji who gave Sri Aurobindo the clue in Alipore Jail, which eventually lead to the Supermind/Supramental consciousness that Sri Aurobindo wrote about.
A very lucid presentation of the great spiritual masters although briefly. Sri Aurobindo's life, teachings, revelations & spiritual awakenings is no kess than an ocean. Just as his symbol signifies, the rises in the ocean represent the multiplicity of creation. A study if the Life Divine will give you a glimpse of His spiritual message.
Pranam ayan Maharaj.excelent speech on rishi aurobindo . Rishi aurobindo was self-realised soul we can feel it through old age's eyes . Shree ma also his great inspiration as collaborator in his spritual life..when anyone deeply meditate on rishi aurobindo old age photo he or she feels that he was enlightened soul.his eyes says something this no words required for establishing his self realisation.even in pondicherry ashram there is another vibration where rishi aurobindo And mother 's mortal body kept.nature of pondicherry also influence his spritual life. If someone see so deeply rishi aurobindo black and white photo in where he was sitting on chair his eyes says everything no read to more about his enlightenment story.that picture says who was rishi aurobindo
Pranaams Ayon Maharaj, for bringing Rishi Aurobindo into the fold of the spiritual giants of the RK mission. Sri RK and Sw. Vivekananda themselves guided Rishi Aurobindo, so he should be considered as one of the monks of the RK lineage. I always wished someone would simplify the erudite insights of Rishi Aurobindo for the masses. Inspite of being an English teacher I find Rishi Aurobindo's writings to be abstruse and esoteric.
It's a long waited lecture. I am well versed about the great saint and Mother. Swamiji please arrange class on Savitri Veda. Pranams to you for selecting this subject ,which Aurobindo intentionally kept clandestine . Please arrange class on Sabitri Veda Pranam.
Swamiji Pranam to Sri Thakurji and to all In my earlier comment i made a MISTAKE of mentioning chapter 4 instead cf chapter 3 of the work The Mother I regret my mistake The correct chapter is 3.
Aryan mj TAPOVAN SWAMIJI,a disciple,of Mahapurush mj wrote Bhagwat Gita in the light of Sri Ramakrishna, MaaSarada,Swami Vivekananda..please find this from Our Mysore Ashrama. Are you listening.
Swamiji also doesn't mention anything about Mother's Agenda - it was not his intent to be comprehensive. Besides, many find Savitri to the Sri Aurobindo's most original and epoch contribution. Others find Life Divine to be that. Others find his Gita commentary. The Mother commented frequently on the originality and epoch contribution of the Yoga of Self Perfection. All of the above is true!
The speaker is not correct in his claim that Sri Aurobindo and Thakur/Swamiji are in the same school of thought. Sri Aurobindo had deep respect for Thakur and Swamiji but during the end phase of his life he clearly differentiated his views from that of Thakur and Swamiji's. To give an example (from Talks with Sri Aurobindo, Volume 1, 7 May 1940): Purani: It seems Bhedabheda and Dwaitadwaita are not the same. The latter is the philosophy of Nimbarkar. Sri Aurobindo: I don’t think Bhedabheda is the philosophy of Nimbarkar; I have read so somewhere. Yes, in the Prabuddha Bharata it was mentioned. Nishtha’s friend, the Swami in America, has reviewed The Life Divine. He has spent all his energy in defending the Sannyasis and at the end says that I don’t believe in the Sannyasis. Purani: Is that all he has found? Sri Aurobindo: Practically. Of course he deals with some points here and there and says that I am a remarkable man, etc. I wonder whether these people have understood the book. The other reviewer of the Ramakrishna Mission also gives the impression that they follow the old conventional ways. But Ramakrishna did not proclaim any system of thinking. They follow Vivekananda, perhaps. Purani: Vivekananda does not seem to have succeeded as a philosopher. Sri Aurobindo: His writings on Yoga are forceful. He made an attempt at writing philosophy and said that all philosophies are on the way to the Truth but only Shankara’s reaches the final goal. Purani: The Ramakrishna Mission doesn’t have any outstanding thinker. Sri Aurobindo: Its people are good at the exposition of old ideas. Abhedananda had some power. It is clear Sri Aurobindo himself is saying here that Swami Vivekanada followed Shankaracharya or, at least, thought his philosophy is the highest. Moreover, contrary to what the speaker has claimed elsewhere, Sri Aurobindo is saying that Thakur was not a systematic thinker and also there is a difference between Swamiji and Thakur. So should serious followers of Thakur and Swamiji take Sri Aurobindo seriously? I seriously doubt it. Sri Aurobindo indeed considered Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekanada as great spiritual luminaries but has often spoken about their limitations. I sincerely request people who are devotees of Thakur not to be misled by this ill-informed lecture. Those who can read Bengali should read Vivekanada o samakalen bharatvarsha by Sankari Prasad Basu, seventh book that contains a very well researched article on the relationship between Sri Aurobindo and Swami Vivekananda
Nice to see the very words highlighted of the Master! The problem with followers is a mindset of 'My Master is ultimate' , and so the mind limits accepting the flow of evolution and realisations of different aspects! Every Enlightened brings down something and gives out what humanity is ready for and the Ascended Masters have a touch in bringing the teachings to the prepared Souls! So an understanding of how enlightened beings impart and gear up a Soul is all that one should remember and not categorisation! And to Mother Buddha to various Ascended Masters gave the teaching!
Swamiji need to study more about Sri Aurobindo. But reading Sri Aurobindo in the light of Sri Ramakrishna will not take one very far to give true comments on Him... One should read Sri Aurobindo without having any mental bias.
I found that Swamiji's striking insights provide great light on Sri Aurobindo's Purna Advaita, light that is often not found in many of the well-known speakers on the integral yoga. For example, his illumination of the connection between Ramakrishna's understanding of Jnana and Vijnana and the way Sri Aurobindo uses those terms in his commentary on Chapter 7 of the Gita is truly inspired.
Remarkable highlights from the life of Sri Aurobindo 🕉️
Pranam Maharaj Ji

Wow! The talk is so rich. We generally know nothing about Aurobindo.
It is not Aurobindo. His name is Sri Aurobindo

It's a long waited lecture. I am well versed about the great saint and Mother.
Swamiji please arrange class on Savitri Veda.
Pranams to you for selecting this subject ,which Aurobindo intentionally kept clandestine . Please arrange class on Sabitri Veda
Pranam.
Sri Aurobindo himself is an Avatar like Sri Ramakrishna . He is not one of sons of Sri Ramakrishna.
In the year 1893, Sri Aurobindo came to India from West and Swami Vivekananda gone to West to spread Sanathana Dharma.
Look forward to more such talks Swamiji.
Can you please suggest some names of Sri Aurobindu's books?
Regards..
Read "Life Divine" of Rishi Aurobindo.

Curiously, the talk is silent about the Veda, which is Sri Aurobindo's most original and epochal contribution.

Agreed , Aurobindo too sometimes shows some biases in his talks and his understanding of Vivekananda is extremely weak .
