The smile broke causing the cart to smash into the other train causing serious injuries to people. Rides do malfunction. The bar that secures over your head are usually locked into place with a security belt locked into place as a 2nd precaution. Imagine that lap bar popping open as you approach that outwards turn. Bye bye everyone 😟
The ride never malfunctioned, the crash was caused because of operator error... humans malfunction. Hydraulic restraints cannot physically open when locked and besides seat belts are fitted as a fail safe.
Final destination 3 is the most unrealistic rollercoaster in existence. Idk how people survive the car journey there and then are scared of rollercoaster safety. If rollercoasters were dangerous, no one would ride them.

Over the shoulder restraints, especially for shorter riders (me) make you just bang your head at the slightest jolt
