In the Indian version, namely Hindi for Frozen 1 and frozen fever it was Sunidhi Chauhan (a famous Bollywood singer) who did both the singing and speaking voices of Elsa. In Olaf’s a frozen adventure a dubbing artist (forgot her name) did Elsa’s singing and speaking voice.
For Frozen 2, Priyanka Chopra (a top celebrity, and in my opinion a terrible choice, seriously...) does her speaking voice but Sunidhi returns to sing.
Honestly, I’d rather have Sunidhi voice Elsa, she’s the real Hindi Elsa for us.

@@DreamsOfSappho It could be a challenge in some countries. E.g.: in Malaysia, singers with big, Disney-esque, musical theater-ish, singing voice like Marsha is rare. It is just a strike of luck that Marsha is also an actress. The Malaysian Anna is less unfortunate - she has a different voice actor and singing voice because it is just that rare to have a person who can do both here.
P.s.: if you've listened to all 40+ languages, you'll noticed that some singers aren't as good. Conclusion: the multi-talented ones are harder to come by in some parts of the world.

This is basically what happens when Disney pay attention to their fans' activity. Fans has been making multilingual compilation for any Disney songs they like by collecting sound tracks of various languages of same song and edit them together for years... way before Frozen even came out. I know this because watching those multilingual clips of Disney songs had been one of my almost guilty pleasure. I am pretty sure Disney took note of what happened on the net and finally had a light bulb moment when Frozen came around and went "let's show you how us professionals do this multilingual track officially!"

It's me again. SWEDEN. look at what ABBA came from. They all had careers before ABBA.
Agnetha Fältskog "jag skulle äga miljoner om tårar vore guld"
    Björn Ulveus "hootenanny singers"
    Benny Andersson "hep stars"
Anne-frid Lyngstad, toured singing jazz from when she was thirteen.
Very interesting and you understand a lot. Both girls also composed. Not only Björn and Benny. Now they're composing musicals and Benny has a new band "BAO orkester"
And when you listen to them they have always been close to Swedish folk-music
When they all met it was like an explosion

Pretty much every Disney movie gets dubbed into, sometimes hundreds of different languages. The whole movie, singing and speaking are translated and made so that it still fits with the movements and the story. And they try to get singers who sound like the originals. All so that children all over the world can grow up watching Disney even before they learn English and still get the same experience. :)
(Sorry if my spelling isn't correct, English is my second language.)

Catalan is a language that people speak in Spain and Andorra to name a few .
If you think Barcelona you have it, for me its the most famous example, maybe because i am a huge Leo Messi and FC Barcelona fan.
But if you have been in Barcelona then you have actually read Catalan, they almost always have 2 words for the same thing, at least in stores, first in spanish and under it´s Catalan :)

Unfortunately for the Philippines, every Disney song is always officially sang in English language (or Philippine English to be specific) for the Philippines, and also for the entire Southeast Asia I guess ('cause English is the working language and kind of the common language of ASEAN or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations), and only fans and other Filipinos do a lot of unofficial Filipino language/Tagalog language versions and translations on RUclips.

If they did some more digging they would find videos covering more languages. Disney just clearly did a compilation of 25 languages. You have to think of the target audience, in this case children, which Disney cannot ignore and if they do not dub into essentially every recognised language then they basically ignore an entire market because you cannot expect a 3 or 4 year old from, for example the Philippines, to fluently understand an entire movie in English, even if English as a language is across the board commonly spoken and a large percentage of the population has a good grasp of it they are aimed primarily at children of all ages.
I've also worked in the niche industry within translation that looks into things like dubbing of film. It is definitely as he says not a simple direct translation - it is a lengthy process that requires understanding of the song, taking as much of it as possible and getting the message as close as it can. On top of that a translator then also has to ensure that the translation matches the lip movement as it is created so characteds move their lips to English so other languages, if done correctly, also need to consider this which again affects something is translated. As for approval, that is very common but a lot of agencies will provide both a translated version (or in some cases more than 1 version) with back translations into English which allow production teams the chance to see how the song has changed and the reasoning behind it. And that is bringing the process down to a bare minimal explanation.
