I feel like people complaining about this making Lelouch the "bad guy" are missing part of the point of both the show and this AMV. Code Geass doesn't have an unambiguously good or bad guy (beyond most of the Britanian nobility jerks, that is). Suzaku is an idealist, desperately giving his all to support and fix a failing system, whereas to Lelouch, the system is fatally flawed on a core level and he uses whatever means are necessary to replace it with something else. Both of them believe they're doing good to an extent, and that they're justified. Both have their own parallels to Moses here: Lelouch is fighting (at least at the start) to free an oppressed people despite (formerly) being a part of the nation that oppressed them, while Suzaku has the whole actually being adopted into Britanian/Egyptian society despite being Japanese/Hebrew, and he does his best to raise up his brethren (as misguided as it often is). What I find remarkable is how well the AMV captures this dualistic mindset. While Suzaku is singing, Lelouch comes across as an egotistical bastard, but when it switches to Lelouch, rather than the tortured soul that was just baring his heart, we see an unhinged lunatic driven mad by his own hate. And what I find the best touch, when "god" is singing the plagues and chorus, when he's sending his scourge and sword, 90% of what's shown is either the immediate consequences of or the direct actions of *Lelouch,* not Suzaku.
+pianoguy222 That is an amazing point, I must admit though I love this amv I thought it was weird he was the pharaoh since he spent most of the show fighting Britanian but the point you make there is a very good one
pianoguy222 lelouch will never be justified to a certain amount of people. Because those people would say and believe " the ends do not justify the means"
I would add a bit of nuance there StuffedAnimalAdvisor. I believe that the ends justify the means, but you must not abuse yourself into the notion that what you are doing is "good". Your actions are not good, the end you are achieving is. If you confuse these things, you may begin to take cruel actions unnecessarily, which I believe is the path that Lelouch went down. In the end, I do not believe he planned to be killed at the end in an altruistic manner, but rather because he wanted to rid his conscience of the guilt. Otherwise a body double would have been enough to suffice for that assassination.
Sweet Papa D_ Well if we want to make it sound less weird we can imagine it to be a different time line in which Lelouch succeded to his Father and didn't rebelled to the empire.
Ugh. This has to be the best CG amv to have graced the internet. I always stop whatever I'm doing just to watch the last portion especially. So dramatic, so fitting, so sad.
If I saw this at a con's amv contest I'd be sad if it didn't win anything. It's so well done. My favorite part is Euphie's eyes early on for break/yield. I get fucking chills.
This is one of those AMVs that deserves an award. I watch this every day and it's still chillingly (whether that's a word or not, I'm using it) perfect combinations.
I love this!! It matches the anime pretty well! They were brothers, they loved each other and were forced to fight against each other to achieve their goals.
This is honestly the best Code: Geass video on all of youtube. My only problem is that the music should be louder, but despite that I've been watching this over and over again, the volume cranked up to max and loving every second of it.
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you were able to see it at Banzai, and I'm happy you voted for me. Though, to be honest, I never expected this to win Best in Show, it was quite a shock.
Chances of that are impossible.1st: even if I wanted to, the amount of scenes with Suzaku looking 'evil' and 'corrupt' are far too little. To make a full video with what scenes are available would be a stretch and it simply wouldn't be as good. 2nd: I made this video as a parody, it wasn't meant to be completely accurate.3rd: I've edited to this song 2 times already, a 3rd would drive me crazy. 4th:, this is how I saw the roles for the song originally for my video. Sorry, but there is no chance
Shiiiiiiit. As soon as the vocals started I got chills. You lined things up so well. This is the best CG amv I've seen. It doesn't come off as being "cliche???" like some others I've watched. I'm sad it's taken me so long to find it. God damn.
I think this was made in the point of view of suzaku, on how he sees lelouch and zero during most of the anime. because he thought anything done by contemptible means we're bad
This is one of the best amvs to have ever been created. This song goes so so well. (and for the record I understand why you flipped Lelouch adn Suzaku's roles, I think it goes better this way myself)
No matter how many times I watch this, I still get CHILLS from the sheer magnitude of the awesomeness from this AMV! Job EXTREAMLY well done! *likes* *favs* *subs*
Thank you very much! I'm happy to know that people liked it so much. And I'm glad you saw it at Banzai! That was a lot of fun seeing it on a big screen.
This was really well done but I do have a few comments: This is portraying Lelouch as Rameses and Suzaku as Moses of course, but it also sets Lelouch as the one casting the plagues, even though God and Moses were on the same side. But because not every song will match an amv's story completely I suppose it's not too big of a deal. My bigger issue is that the Zero Requiem was used for the end of the amv; just like nearly every other code geass amv. And I get that it really grabs the viewer's attention and emotions(because how could it not) but the fact is that by using this scene so often the fandom has really watered down its impact, especially when it's not even the best scene to use in most cases. You could argue for its use here by saying it foreshadows how the story of Moses and Rameses ends, but it's honestly still out of place because of the sense of finality the Requiem scene gives in contrast to the challenge/catalyst feel this song has. Even so it's still enjoyable to watch, and the remastered version is a treat.
As for the foreshadowing, you mean metaphorically right? If I remember correctly, Ramses did not die at the end of the film. He was left alone on the shore all alone screaming in agony "Moses! Moses!"
i am tears once more, i don't think i'll ever stop crying over this series. and my favourite song from the film + my favourite anime, who would've thought it would be such a perfect fit?
I think both versions are AMAZING!! You did a FANTASTIC job! This is hands down one of the best Code Geass AMVs I've ever seen! You certainly deserved those two awards!
You know I bet if you've never watched this show or heard of it......they would assume lelouch is the evil antagonist and Suzuku is the good guy protagonist
Ugh I loved the movie with all its music... it had REALLY awesome music, like this one ;) and I LOVED CG MOST OF ALL this AMV fits the song and both stories so well!!!! (Sorry had to edit more to add XD) I love how this fits Suzaku's point of view of Lelouch-who looks completely awesome in this AMV btw-I love how-in this AMV-you only showed his psychopathic side, because it fits Suzaku's POV best and what he believes Lulu is, even though Lulu is actually caring, kind and more selfless than any other character in this anime. LOVE IT AAHH.
Oh my god. This...this is...I don't know what to say. Genius? Brilliant? Every awesome word that describes "epic" should be written here but my mind is now blank from the epicness of that...that... *insert proper words here please. The user is now temporarily brain dead from the epic video*
I loved seeing this at Banzai. It blew my mind! I'm so happy that it won best of show, which is what I voted for, haha. Seriously though, amazing! Thanks!
LMFAO This song is so perfect for Code Geass IDK why I never thought of it. I love the way you did this BTW. If I had done it I would've probably used Schneizel instead of Suzaku and had Lelouch as Moses so you also win points for creativity XD Brilliant vid, I was laughing all the way through, well except for the end I was actually in suspense. =D
I haven't seen this video in such a long time! I love the touches you made on this one with the transitions . Love them both, so I'm glad you are keeping the original up! God, this song and anime together fit so well
Its interesting because the roles of Ramses and Moses can easily switch between Lelouch and Suzaku throughout the anime. But I guess you can ultimately say Lelouch was using the Japanese people as pawns to reach his ultimate goal. (For the record I'm an Atheist I just really liked Prince of Egypt)
Oh jeez....idk what to think. Musicals are not my thing. Yet I found this to be very very awesome and...a bit chilling even with the music I didn't like very much. HOW CAN THIS BE?????
Great job! Love this video, but the roles really should be reversed. Much like Moses, Lelouch is the one who is unleashing the chaos, or "plagues", in order to free an oppressed people. He I also given the means to do so by a supernatural power. Suzaku, like Ramses, is the one working against him and allowing said oppression to continue. He knows about all the violence and tragedy that his empire is causing and yet does nothing to stop it ("Then let my heart be hardened, and never mind how high the cost may grow"). Still a great job. Regardless of what you think of Lelouch, you can't deny he looks great as a bad guy. :)
yes it did so, but also was instrumental to the worlds reconstruction, sometimes destruction is needed for creation in the natural order, what lelouch did was no different then a volcano destroying and reshaping entire landscapes. To the untrained and impatient eye lelouch destroyed everything and ruined everything, yet he made himself the most hatred being in the world, wiping away everyone else's memories of those before them as the worst beings to walk the world in order to give them a new chance.so yes his pride and arrogance cost him much, including using the power given to him by C.C (I have a theory that geass is like a mental parasite, it feeds off negative emotions, such as pride, wrath, greed, ect. ect. and lelouch was never really stable to begin with, seeing your own mother killed, your closest sibling crippled, on top of that your own father calls off the investigation putting him as a possible suspect of protecting the true instigator from his wrath, then being exiled and when you finally begin to have a stable home. Boom instant destruction and almost pure death, having to walk through a WARZONE with said crippled sister and then dealing with the aftermath? Its a wonder hes even able to work in society! Let alone lead a rebellion! Geass just accelerated his mental downfall!)
Sam Costello I like how instead of like in The prince of Egypt, Moses is instigating chaos to free his people. Lelouch (I can't spell) is being stubborn and not stopping until Japan is free. It really gives you the perspective of the people suffering at the hands of Lelouch and the rebellion.
You can honestly look at it either way, both could fit either role. However... [SPOILERS] Let's remember that Lelouch purposely made himself out to be the bad guy for the sake of creating peace. And from Suzaku's POV, this is pretty accurate. I think the main point here is that Lelouch was the cause of the devastation and tragedy, so he fit the role better- especially at 1:08 - 1:21. The best code geass amv ever created
Emeraldsound Even seen Europa?
Probably the best Code Geass AMV ever, plus music from "The Prince of Egypt" what else could be so good??
I agree. Epic.
Everytime I watch Lelouch last moments I cry
Same..
Ugh. This has to be the best CG amv to have graced the internet. I always stop whatever I'm doing just to watch the last portion especially. So dramatic, so fitting, so sad.
Hands down best Code Geass AMV of all time. The song is just so perfect, especially for the relationship between Suzaku and Lelouch.
If I saw this at a con's amv contest I'd be sad if it didn't win anything. It's so well done. My favorite part is Euphie's eyes early on for break/yield. I get fucking chills.
Holy shit! He commands the Horde, the Swarm AND the Scourge?
well, I guess someone found Blizzard's god mode key.
ha broodwar
Lelouch for Warchief :P
Was watching Prince of Egypt and needed to watch this AMV immediately after finishing XD Still my number 1 favourite Code Geass AMV
This is one of those AMVs that deserves an award. I watch this every day and it's still chillingly (whether that's a word or not, I'm using it) perfect combinations.
OMG THIS IS THE BEST CODE GEASS AMV I'VE EVER SEEN! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely ADORE you and this amv. Wow.
same thoughts
I agree !
This shows both views perfectly! But still, always all hail Lelouch!
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you were able to see it at Banzai, and I'm happy you voted for me. Though, to be honest, I never expected this to win Best in Show, it was quite a shock.
The timing in this is so spot on wow this is great! One of the best AMV's I've seen.
Wow this really did a good job capturing the relationship between Lelouch and Suzaku. Both desperately fighting to achieve contradictory goals.
Chances of that are impossible.1st: even if I wanted to, the amount of scenes with Suzaku looking 'evil' and 'corrupt' are far too little. Suzaku and lelouch hitting different from this😭❤️ hits deeper

Also, how awesome is it that you took your old amv and just redid it??? For higher quality??? Like you're my HERO for that.
Amazing I always thought this song goes so well with code geass and then I found your video!!!! Ah simply perfect!
This amv is so simple but it’s so awesome to watch. Love it!
I can't stop watching this!!!! I absolutely love it!!!!
Oh...my...god...this was epic...and really scary at the same time. Gosh, now I think I'm terrified of Lelouch.
still one of the best AMVs ever
that was pure awesomeness
Feels...

I forget how beautifully done this is.
I think both versions are AMAZING!! You did a FANTASTIC job! This is hands down one of the best Code Geass AMVs I've ever seen! You certainly deserved those two awards!
Fucking nailed it, beautifully mixes with the show and characters.
I think this is the best AMV i have seen in my life.
I love how in about 0:27 it says "and in your sheep" and it shows the Black Knights... :P
You know I bet if you've never watched this show or heard of it......they would assume lelouch is the evil antagonist and Suzuku is the good guy protagonist
That was even better than the Code Geass Europe AMV. Good job.
deserves waaaay more views

awww I'm so happy you decided to remaster it :3 still really impressive amy!
LMFAO This song is so perfect for Code Geass IDK why I never thought of it. I love the way you did this BTW. I love how you just make this weird song work so well Amy hahaha XDD awesome video!
Fuck this is good...
I can't think of anything to say about it...
Urgh, too epic. And makes me want to edit with CG badly ;__; Been so long!!!
This literally fit so perfect, amazing video
This is STUNNING...ahh i can't gather my thoughts! Awesome job!!
Oh bless you Amy for remastering this! AWESOME! I love this movie, this song, this anime, and your video is so awesome, SO FITTING!
I haven't seen this video in such a long time! I love the touches you made on this one with the transitions . Love them both, so I'm glad you are keeping the original up!
God, this song and anime together fit so well
I've watched this video soooo many times now. It's just amazing!
yup. gave me shivers. again

Amazing video. You thoroughly deserve your awards.
Magic

HOW CAN THIS BE?????

this video shows us how much lelouch's arrogance and pride brought destruction to Japan.

This is really Beautiful TAT ~
Awesome AMV. Really highlights the tragic nature of Lelouch and Suzaku's friendship, even though in the show the roles are kinda reversed. ^^;;
You sir, just got yourself a subscriptor.

I've wached it more than 10 times by now, realy!
Best moment 00:16 very stylish. =)
So much feeling *___*
The first was great, but this on is good too
So Im showing this to my friend and right 2:37 he farts , I back up and Im like "What the FUCK" and he says "What? I let my people go..."
You can honestly look at it either way, both could fit either role. However...
[SPOILERS]
Let's remember that Lelouch purposely made himself out to be the bad guy for the sake of creating peace. And from Suzaku's POV, this is pretty accurate. I think the main point here is that Lelouch was the cause of the devastation and tragedy, so he fit the role better- especially at 1:08 - 1:21.
But I do see where you're coming from. Reversed would be equally as awesome. ^^
Its just perfect
I bow
Yes this rules!
