I asked a gem/ rock collector hut in an antique store if they had brazilianite and she got all “I’m the pro here and you meant amazonite”… like no I want that pretty yellow green stone, not blue shiny one that’s available everywhere
I’d only heard of the Wavellite and Brazilianite so it was awesome to see some new ones! That kinoite is stunning! And the Brochanite does look very much like dioptase, super cool
How about Benitoite? I know where a beautiful specimen is that is at least 3 carats. A friend of mine had access to the mine before the lady closed it. She had opened it up to the rock and gem clubs to get specimens but folks started breaking in with earth moving equipment and tearing up her land. My friend is 91 and a retired professor from UC. I am so blessed to have met him and now i basically have a private geologist as a tutor.
Omg we have several samples of brochantite we got from Central Oregon. Nobody could figure out what it was. Thank you! They are beautiful but very delicate and can’t really be used for anything other than a cool shelf specimen. I’m 99.9% sure this is what we have. Got it from a rock guy out in Prineville.
Thanks Rob, yea, that’s definitely seven gemstones I’ve certainly not heard of. Absolutely amazing and so delicate; presented as nature intended. Kinoite has to be my favourite for it deep metallic Lapis blue colour. Thanks for sharing these. 🤜🤛 Rog from Wales 🏴
Beautiful! The fact I don't have any ot these except for Tincalconite means I really gotta get to collecting these guys and I always remember the safety rules for them :)
Hey Rob!! The Brazilianite and the blue of the Kinoite is just stunning. All of these gem specimens are so cool and beautiful. Thanks for giving us another lesson on gems we didn't know existed.
Had to do a double take when he mentioned Final Fantasy XIV as I was playing Final Fantasy XIV 😂 Thanks for the informative video! Found my new fave channel to listen to as I play critically acclaimed mmorpg final fantasy xiv 😂❤️
Kionite has a Hardness of 2.5. A human THUMBNAIL has a 2.5 Hardness. Yes, a thumbnail would SCRATCH Kionite. Nothing is considered a Gemstone has a Hardness that low.
Scolecite is not a no-go for jewelry. I have seen plenty of wire wraps with it. I have a bunch of stabilized and cabbed pink scolecite and the accicular patters are incredible.
Wow, all those gemstones shown are very interesting and unique looking.😯💎❔ I never heard of them before yet to know the facts about them, how they're form and where they come from is amazing.🤔📖 My favorites are the blue/green one and the last one that looks like natural wood.💎🪵 Yes, please do another video like this. Good review and see you later.🙂🧑🏫💎
When I first saw the brochantite, I thought it was clinoclase. I have a small cabinet specimen in precisely that colour; a decent clinoclase specimen would be worth looking into obtaining if you're into vivid blue/green minerals 😉 I'm wondering if you were planning on doing a lesser known wearable gems show??? possibly including some gaspeite, lazurite, sinhalite, andalusite, kornerupine... I rarely see lazurite in jewellery but the others do pop up from time to time, I'm not sure if anyone else is as keen on lazurite considering all the glory seems to go to it's more common cousin lapis lazuli, alas, lazurite is a beauty in and of itself that seems so hard to find polished simply due to the tendency to mislabel it as lapis, or, lapis as it conversely. I think it deserves more appreciation than it receives currently being often misidentified or otherwise just misrepresented.
Aren’t these classified as a mineral specimens and not gems? In what capacity would these be considered gems? And if you’re such an authority why aren’t you using the correct terminology? I believe you’re doing a disservice to those that watch that might not understand. Is it that you’re using the figurative form of gem and not the literal form of gem? Or is it just click bait?
Is the outline/almost small gap on the wavellite specimen the demarcation from the matrix? I’d love to hear more about how it’s formed and why it looks like that.
Oh, I’m so glad I now know to keep my gemstones out of the oven! BTW, it’s pronounced WASH-a-ta (Ouachita) mountains. Everyone pronounces it wrong! Ask Google!
I put some into the oven depending on what i'm doing. Sometimes oven changes coloration. Sometimes it just works really well to dry off the fresh clay. :P
Calling Kionite a Gemstone is a LIE. You should be ashamed of yourself for calling an uncuttable mineral with a pitiful 2.5 Hardness a GEMSTONE. How dare you.
According to the G.I.A., the ONLY material in this video that is DURABLE enough to be a Gemstone is Brazilianite. So, everything else in the video is too soft, too brittle, and not Tough enough to be a Gemstone.
Only one of those minerals could be used as a gemstone, video should have been called seven minerals you may have never heard of.
I asked a gem/ rock collector hut in an antique store if they had brazilianite and she got all “I’m the pro here and you meant amazonite”… like no I want that pretty yellow green stone, not blue shiny one that’s available everywhere
I don't call them "gem/rock collector" if they don't know Brazilianite, sad.
I’d only heard of the Wavellite and Brazilianite so it was awesome to see some new ones! That kinoite is stunning! And the Brochanite does look very much like dioptase, super cool
please more! i wanna see some spectrolite
I heard about Brazilianite because I live in Brazil hahaha I have some. One of my favourites
that kinoite is just the cutest thing
I am SO tired of looking up gemstones and getting nothing but how it will affect my aura or its chi healing power.
The Brazilianite was AMAZING and the Mimetites were also! The Scolecite w Chalcedony are just oddly beautiful!
AWESOME video. It probably would be better titled "Seven Minerals You Probably Haven't Heard of ". Keep them coming.
Paraíba tourmaline, does not come from
Minas Gerais, it comes from the state of Paraíba.
I'm in Arkansas. I have several wavelite. I thought the brilliant blue one looked like azurite.

Ok, I'm really enjoying this video, but as an Arkansas living about 1.5 hours from My. Ida, Ouachita is pronounced wash-i-tah.
I watch these while I'm crafting on FFXIV so that was weird...
Wauw beautiful minerals! Could you please include Hauyne/Hauynite in one of your next video's? :)

I would call many of these specimens minerals and not gemstones. If you can't facet or cab a stone, it's not a gemstone. Cool minerals though!
You can cab scolecite and put it in jewelry.
Thank you for this informative video! I hadn't heard of Kinoite before... that's some unreal blue right there😍💙💙💙
Had to do a double take when he mentioned Final Fantasy XIV as I was playing Final Fantasy XIV 😂
Thanks for the informative video! Found my new fave channel to listen to as I play critically acclaimed mmorpg final fantasy xiv 😂❤️
i’m so glad i was recommended this channel. i’m amazed by the diversity of this planet lol
Sorry but I would listen to Rob tell me about gems all day 😬🥵
Informative and fun as usual!

People in the past didn't worry much about wearing arsenic or lead 😉
Scolecite is not a no-go for jewelry. I have seen plenty of wire wraps with it. I have a bunch of stabilized and cabbed pink scolecite and the accicular patters are incredible.
greetings gemstone lovers from Indonesia🇲🇨🇲🇨

Kinoite has a Hardness of 2.5!! You call THAT a GEMSTONE?!
Well some are crystals, but not 'gems'.
Arkansas doesn't 'produce' shit...they are just found there.

Tincalconite - which is used to craft the pudding furniture set in FFXIV....
Nice video. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thats the feeling I got when I saw your mustache! Incredible... Mustaches don't get enough love these days
Yeah, we rock here in Brazil! So many beautiful gemstones in our land
Is the outline/almost small gap on the wavellite specimen the demarcation from the matrix? I’d love to hear more about how it’s formed and why it looks like that.
Wish you would show spelling of more places & minerals, etc.
Thanks, absolutely do another for us.
The scolecite looks like just likehi weird mushroom I see growing sometimes.
Didnt know we had that here, but now I need some
where do they find that glass stand for specimen

Wash-uh-taw is how we pronounced Ouachita
Yeah… man definitely took a few years or french
I've heard about brazilianite!
Those are cool minerals, but they aren't 'gems'. Disappointed!
/shrug. First world dissapointment.
Not gems, mineral specimens.
Good video
Wow that was so interesting xx
YES PLEASE
THIS WAS SSSOOO COOL!
#TeamMimetite here! Thoroughly enjoyed this mystery unboxing, and would love to see & learn more! Thank you for sharing!
What about the 2 different kinds of zebra rock found in Australia
👍👍👍👍
Awesome!! ❤
Scolecite looks exactly like a fruit I forget the name of
you're going on my phone
Awesome! Always the most interesting gemstones.
It looks like peridot.
Love it! More Please!!
I just popped in to say thank you for saying "maybe" never heard of. I hate pretencious videos that assume people are ignorant and yours did not. :-)

Bronchantite has a Hardness of 3.5 - 4!! It FAILS to meet the requirements of a Gemstone!!
first!!!
