    This is an awesome series. Me and my buddy live near Lake Michigan and smallmouth fish the south end of the lake. But we go to Erie in the spring for the walleye jig bite. Would love to limit out on eyes and go out for smallies after. Launch out of turtle creek area and fish around the cans. Any and all info is much appreciated. Keep up the good work and helping anglers improve.

    Do you fish the harbors for largemouth? If so could you do a video on fish placement at different times of the year? Really love your videos, keep up the good content!

      Absolutely I can do some videos on largemouth. That's where I started fishing for bass on Erie.

    Very interesting, grow up fishing Lorain from shore and Smallmouth was great then. I have a boat now and seems like I cant buy a Smallmouth around Lorain anymore. Never ran around Vermillion but after this video I will give it a shot. Thanks!

      I can give you some spots in Lorain to try. I can do a short video on that area. You are right, it's not like it used to be.

    Great info! I would be interested in seeing how you find a new spot and then how you go out and graph it and fish it.

    Thanks for the info. I caught my biggest smallmouth in front of the castle in October a couple years ago. I appreciate you showing specific areas where you've had success and that's what I'm interested in. I started fishing Erie with my Dad in the mid to late 1980's and most of our spots were based on landmarks and visual triangulation.

      I will have a video coming on the North shore. Just a note.....I do not have any experience East of Point Pelee. The only area I have fished is between Point Pelee and the Detroit River.

    Sir. I just found your video and thanks so much. It’s bringing back good memories when I Fish Lake Erie in the late 60s to late 70s fishing the Islands . Have the Government fix the Algae Problems? I love fishing the Islands for Walleyes instead of Niagara reef.

      Algae has not been too bad the past few years. I think it depends on conditions.

    Hey KRD your videos are fantastic! With your recommendations I can’t wait to get up to Erie and try some of your tips out. Regarding suggestions for video topics, would you be able to film a video showing how you approach one of your know spots and what you look for on your graph to determine if you will fish the spot. It would also be great to see how you use live scope to target smallmouth.

      I agree 100%. There are a ton of videos that show people catching smallmouth. But what I would like to see is an on the water video of the structure you look for and what makes certain types of cover attract fish. There is a ton of rock on erie but I would like to know what type of structure you see and know it holds fish.

    I can either go out of Cranberry or Vermilion to get to that spot

    I like how you said the vermillion area gets a lot less boat pressure. I think that is key especially if you’re scoping with live

    Hey man. I just subscribed. I live in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. I keep following more and more fisherman that fish Erie to pick up tips. As the summer progresses, we find it harder and harder to consistently catch smallmouth. One beauty here and there and I hate that. I like checking out maps, picking spots and graphing them to then fish them. My question to you is, do you find a large screen graph like a Helix 10 or 12 make a big difference from a 7 let's say? We have an 858 for strictly maps a d a Helix 7 and 898 which are great but when I've seen a 12 in. action on SI, it is night and day different information wise. You can just see so much more detail down there which is HUGE!!!! Thanks in advance.

      @KRDFishing  4 месяца назад +1

      For side imaging....100% the bigger screen size makes a difference. You can see individual boulders and fish better. For live sonar I had to go to a 12" screen as well, more because it was hard for me to see comfortably.

    • @luca4741
      @luca4741 4 месяца назад

      @@KRDFishing Thanks for writing back. I think a Helix 10 or 12 is definitely on the Christmas List this year! Ha. Sounds like if Live Sonar is ever an option we would need to go with a 12. Regardless, I'm trying to get better at reading Nav maps to find new places to fish and extend our own milk run of spots. When it comes to smallmouth in particular, we find fishing in September way more difficult than July. If you had to narrow down where to catch more smallmouth on Erie in Sept, what would it be? We catch individual fish here and there in August and Sept but nowhere near the numbers we do in June and July. Thanks for your help and advice. Keep posting those videos.
