I'm a huge supporter of Air Ride. I used to be like everyone is when they don't know, "It's just a gag or gimmick". Then I worked on a mid sized passenger bus, 35 passenger, and my mind was forever changed.
The improvement in vehicle control was huge. Even more so was the ride quality, empty or fully loaded.
You made a great choice to go with Air ride. When you can't tell the difference of empty or loaded you know that you've got it right.
For those of us who have driven with a bouncy, almost uncontrollable load, when you get behind the wheel and the only difference that you notice is the weight that's when you gain a true appreciation for Air Ride. You control the load, or the load control you, you decide.

    • @cognitivedissonancecamp6326
      @cognitivedissonancecamp6326 8 месяцев назад +4

Air bags help the truck lift under load, so that the handling is normalized and the headlights point where they should, air ride is a whole different animal.
      Your point is salient though!

As an aside, I mounted my compressor to the inside of an ammo can lid. Drilled a few cooling holes and mounted it under the truck. Lid mounted to truck. Protects the entire compressor from dirt n mud. Unlatch and swing down container to check on it. Lotsa different ammo cans sizes. Should also put in tiny drain hole just in case you drive thru deep water

I believe the Timbren SES is a superior suspension enhancement. Simple, no leaking, no controls, no failing compressor.

Just an FYI about your truck, if you want to make it a long distance hauler, replace the stock fuel tank with one from S B Filters. They make one that is a 62 gallon tank that mounts where the stock tank is now. It comes with the correct fuel pickup/gauge sender. I have one on my Duramax truck and it's great when you're pulling a heavy trailer.

Yeah my 18' ram 3500 only gets about 11 miles to the gal pulling 29k lb goose neck. That gets me about 250 miles (usually 200 useable because I don't like being too low on fuel) per tank of fuel. I've been wanting to get an after market tank for it just having a hard time getting over the pricetag hahaha

The last couple i installed i welded into place and the brackets still ended up bent in no time. Now I just add extra leaf springs and deal with the rougher ride when empty

There is a small percentage i personally assembled that specific airide assembly. I worked at the plant where those are made, and ran the crimpers that assembled the top and bottom plates to the bellow (air bag). Just know each airide assembly is tested to at least 180psi for a minimum of 5 seconds on 4" parts and 15 seconds on 5" or larger parts.
They are very high quality, where the plates are formed, fittings attached, and put through a furnace to make an air-tight seal at their Dyersburg, TN, plant. They are then packed and sent out for plating, then returned to the plant for assembly.
I was hoping to catch a look at the white tag on the plate to see if it had my operator number. 😅

I drilled a hole in the floor under the seat so that I could use cab air for the compressor. I put a manual gauge under the hood for the main air tank, and I use a manual slide switch just like I use in my air bag suspension on my T Bucket. It has a single gauge with 2 gauge pointers. One for each slide switch for each air bag. Mine works well too.

I love my airbags on my Cummins, no need to squat, just bring the jump box over that has the air compressor combo and just blast air in right near the placard on the rear bumper.

Just a friendly comment from a diesel mechanic, those dmaxes love fuel filtration. I highly suggest a air dog or fass lift pump/ filters

You might want to think about getting a backup generator that can cover yoour house and business! I have seen your power go out too many timeson your channel my friend! You could get solor with backup batteries where you live but your initial cost is much more. Or you could talk to Heavy D and see if he could help find you a good deal on a old military diesel generator that could be set up to run automatically during a power outage and shut off when the power came back on. Or one that you would have to kill the power to the main line and would run as needed they are usually on an axel and can be moved around to bring power where it is needed! Just a thought to look into!

Oh God, what a great rock'n roll band. If Siesack Steve was still there, better than AC DC and the Rolling Stones. Just a super crazy picture. Greetings from Frankfurt and stay healthy.

I must say i am impressed with the modern druramax's how nice of a job GM did on the step side reinforcements. They really did it right. From the outside they look plasticky and questionable. But from the backside you can see they used some heavy tubing to reinforce the steps. After doing some work on mine, and seeing that. I had alot more faith in those side steps.

Pretty sure that air pump is the same as a viair or any number of compressors. Branded Firestone. Get that ratbak finished. I love that it’s not an LS.
