There are so many problems with this I don’t know where to begin but murder is the biggest. There was no premeditation involved yet Rob’s lawyer isn’t looking for angles or anything to knock it down. This is a rapist who would have done it again (and probably did it before) yet he is seen as a victim in all of this even with the harassment and extortion also forgotten. Still hoping there is a return in a few years and their story can start again and they can finally have the family they’ve wanted all along.
Years ago when this show devastated me with Jackson's death, I swore I would never again allow myself to get too wrap up in their characters, especially the gay characters. I'm sorry this has happened to Aaron, again. The show gives him a love that we think will last a life time and then they break his and ours hearts. Like I said, I learned my lesson about Emmerdale when they killed Jackson.
*spoiler* but luke being the one to hit lee first isn’t enough, i think luke came into the hospital room to finish the job and that’s the retcon they’ll go with to get robert out of prison or better yet andy breaks him out and the sugbros return to the village together 😜
Because if Ryan ever wants to return, they can now really easily say he appealed it and got convicted of manslaughter instead, which with time served gives him an instant release. On the other hand, if he doesn't want to come back, it stands as this long a sentence. It's wiggle room for if he wants to come back.

Sorry but in what universe is this murder? Even taking the bullshit narrative being presented by Lee as factual, it's still manslaughter at best. I really hate when writers force a specific story outcome without bothering to lay the groundwork and do some proper writing.
