    4:22 I don't understand those kinds of questions which are very irksome and problematic since it's being directed at a POC (Person of Color). There was also a comment under an OTV video calling them racist just because they're all Asians... BoxBox even had to somehow oddly apologize for being in a group of diverse Asian people during Streamer Camp while live streaming. First of all, there's a lot of diversity among Asians, It's not like every Asian is one race or ethnicity - There are Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipinos, Laotian, Hmong, Chinese, Thai and so on. Each one has its very own different culture, language, or beliefs and OTV & Friends has a wide diversity of Asian people.
    They don't need to defend or apologize for being a POC and hanging out with other POC people and more often than not most people gravitate toward relatability. There are also plenty of friend groups that are mainly Caucasian, African-American or other ethnicities/races but yet they're not getting bombarded with the same questions, (ex: Ludwig and his band of close friends, The Yard, all white men). Being Hmong who comes from a first-generation of family that flew from overseas to the US to escape war just to get called many racist volatile things just because I'm a POC, it's just finally great to see a group of relatable people that consists of other Asians ethnicites or races that comes together and just stream with one another. It's hard to find such representation in Hollywood itself and on the big screens but at least recently it's starting to get somewhat better with Michelle Yeoh making history by being the first Asian actress to win an Oscar just earlier this year.

    4:28 I mean, Ludwig, QTCinderella, Sydeon, Blau, Foolish, Ellum and Poki aren't asian.
    I really don't like that question. Would they like it if they said, "why is your whole friend group white?" or black? Or any other race?

    • @howaboutdat

      Right? Has anyone ever asked Ludwig why his entire friend group is white & all guys (aside from QT)? No

      @@howaboutdat There's someone in the comments claiming that white friend groups immediately get canceled just for being white. Like literally when has that ever happened? They're living in some fantasy world because that is not reality.

    4:41 i totally get what you're saying about the whole thing, i feel the same way about my friend group. i've felt alot of instances where i felt like people just tend to exoticize asians and thus there's alot of ignorance that spawns silly (sometimes ignorant) questions. i also remember the whole reddit thing where people seemed almost upset that "offlinetv is mostly asian" 💀

    • @glcsander
      @glcsander 11 месяцев назад +1

      It just makes sense you tend to be close to people you can relate or share the same vibe, coming from the similar cultures and having the same experiences, that doesnt make them racist and doesnt mean they cant relate to other cultures at the end of the day what matters is if the people around you are good people that love, respect and care for each other being from the same "race" is just a plus.

    • @finnlinnsone
      @finnlinnsone 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@glcsander idk how you managed to reduce my personal experiences of being somewhat exoticized to just racism. that's... not what i was trying to say. i wasn't making a comment on "why x race are friends with x race", but thanks for taking time to let me know that human beings tend to be friends with people they have things in common with! that's a concept i had no idea of. lol

      It's a weird question, but Janet's take on it is so delusional. It happens to white people and black people too, probably happens to Kai cenat and his community for example.

    I understand why people ask such questions and it's understandable to ask "why". I feel like people who have more in common tend to hang out with each other. I often see people hang out with the same race because they have a lot in common already. The only people of a different race I hang out with are usually family or friends. I don't have any White friends most of them are Asian like myself or Hispanic. I only knew a few white people in my life, they were my teachers and extended family.

    To be fair, most "streamer groups" are pretty diverse, like OTK for example. OTV and Friends is pretty much only Asians so it's a fair question. It's probably not a malicious thing, just one of those super obvious things that make you go "why is that?". People very much do ask white people the same thing. Whenever a group of any people is all white they're immediately destroyed, canceled, forced to make apologies for not being racially sensitive, etc. You'd be hard pressed to find a good size all white group of literally anything. That's why the whole "well I have black friends" or "I have Asian friends" thing became a meme. So many white people are labeled as racist for no reason and usually pretty shocked in my experience. And JanJan even used the "not all of our friends are Asian" thing. I totally get where she's coming from and she's definitely being honest, but so are white people but you get targeted so much and that's literally the first thing that comes to mind to defend yourself and friendships. I'm half and half but look white, blonde hair blue, I've seen it from both sides but usually it's when I'm hanging out with white friends.

      I understand why people ask such questions and it's understandable to ask "why" but, I think the person you say it to matters a lot. Asking such questions can be harmful as well, people are really sensitive on matters such as race.
