and eye doctor equivalent in the UK would be an optometrist or ophthalmologist. These people have medical degrees, and treat a wide array of eye problems and diseases, along with treating eyesight problems. An optician is someone who's done 3 years of training and is now a practicing optician. An optician still needs prescriptions to be approved by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. The chances are, when you visit the "optician" for an eye test, there's a visiting or resident optometrist or ophthalmologist performing the test.

HOpe you find "send to all" from the Big Show by Michael McIntyre. Where he takes a celebritys phone and send a text to everybody in their phone. Its really funny. "I had a dream you massaged my legs on a beach, what do you think it means?". Stuff like that.

Just to clarify and FYI: '20/20 Vision' does NOT mean you have perfect eyesight.... Far from it ! But the majority of people have just come to accept it to mean that ! Secondly, it's actually an American term, mainly picked up by the Brits from American servicemen in WW2. In UK it is referred to as '6/6 Vision' (or a 6mt distance). 20/20 Vision just means that you have 'normal' vision 'clarity' from a distance of 20 FEET (being able to see and describe most acceptable views and objects without glasses and without sharp details). You may not be able to read anything, but still have 20/20 Vision... 🤔😎

Funnily enough I was just about to go out without my glasses when this came up . They do make a difference although it's a reminder that you are getting older and everything is deteriorating .Some clever observational comedy by Michael and I'll probably be remembering at the Opticians next week .

Don't forget that glass is a verb in the UK as well. I've been glassed, I'd rather hope there wasn't any ambiguity and they weren't just trying to give me glasses. Bottle is also a verb. I've been bottled too, and I really hope they weren't.... nah that was definitely intentional. I'd never fit inside a bottle.

In my early teens I got punched in the face and had a black eye for almost a month. I think it may have slightly damaged the eye as I needed to have glasses. I was told that if I wear them all the time I may not need them by the time I was 16/17. I still did need them as my eyes got lazy and I still wear them now in my late 60's. I have often said that I am so used to wearing glasses that if my eyesight got better I would have plain lenses put in them rather than not wear any glasses.

They just conned me out of £300 for something I don’t need and implied that I’m getting old so I should have them! 😤🤔🤓
