I think Gotham has got lucky...the casting choices have all been really good but I think Robin lord Taylor steals the show as penguin...he blends human frailty with psychopathy so well
I remember Jerome's first appearance. I was watching season 1 thinking, we'll we get to see the Joker in this one? And suddenly, BAMN!!, there he is right in front of your eyes during the interrogation.
Marcos Zottas first of all i realise this is like 5 months later BUT i wanted to point out that whilw they are great actors and play their characters splendidly, having too many scenes with them would be counter productive as we'll then be desensitized to their incredible performances. So in fact, having small little nuggets of gold that are the scenes they have is just the right way to do it. P.S. I'm not disagreeing with you in any sense but rather explaining why I think the way they are doing it works. I am actually in agreement with you so you know just in case you mistook this for a hate comment of some kind.
This show has so many good, fleshed out characters. Bruce Wayne, Selina Kyle, Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Victor Zzaz, Edward Nygma, Oswald Cobblepot, Jerome, Butch, Victor Fries, Fish Mooney, Firefly, Carmine Falcone and so many more I cant even begin to list. This show is so underrated and its a shame that most comic readers shun it for being a different interpretation.
My absolute favorite scene is in season 4 when Bruce drops into the alley way with the mask on while a single guy is robbing a mother, father, and small child (almost exactly like what happened to him) but this time some one (Bruce) was there to beat up the criminal and save the family. It's kind of like a this is the exact thing that happened to his family but this times there was someone there to stop it
I’m a comic book reader and I frigging love this show to death. Granted I didn’t start reading comic books till after I’d seen like the first 2 seasons but I still had a general idea of characters back stories and knew that this show was quite different. Robin lord Taylor’s penguin is almost nothing like his comic book counterpart but he’s the best part of the shows and he’s mesmerising to watch. I agree it is criminally underrated and under appreciated
I think when Oswald comes to kill Galavan and tells Gordon: He killed my mother Jim!, is one of the best scenes because we can feel Oswald's pain and rage in his words and trembling and even Jim Gordon's sympathy toward him. Not to mention Galavan's surprise over Jim knowing, is funny.
That Russian roulette scene is amazing. You can see in Jerome’s eyes that he knows he has nothing to lose, nothing to live for. That’s why he’s so willing to risk three bullets. His acting really has inspired me
He was in the circus though, and he shook the gun a couple times before he pointed it at himself. Wouldn’t surprise me if he knew how to figure the position of the bullet based on the weight or sound as some sort of circus trick. He did say “love it” when asked about the game too. He might have played before and got good at figuring how to win at this supposed game of chance.
Andi Serban I agree if Jim were to just shoot him the riddler would likely never be around. Mr. Freeze would not of have been working for penguin so he would not of been a villain, Theo galavan may of survived much longer hence not be azeral, and Barbra and tabitha probably wouldn’t have opened the club. Everything was caused just because of the penguin.
Stephen Amell is really fuckin good imo, especially when he's serious and dark. His talent is just wasted when all he does is say « ok the villain is gonna be there at this time. Suit up ! ». And the acting/story in the flash was on point in the first season so I could understand how it has a large audience but GOD does gotham deserve more. If you don't watch Legion and Agents of SHIELD, I would recommend them as they are both criminally underrated
I have to say, the most recent episode (3x18) had the absolute best moment. When Ed and Oswald reunite and only three words were spoken, but there was so much incredible tension.
3:25 That scene made me realize how delightfully devious Oswald is. This realization made him my favorite character... until someone by the name of Jerome showed up.
I have to say that Cameron Monaghan and Cory Smith nailed their characters in spectacular way but Robin Taylor is the really amazing actor in this show, never thought of the penguin as a really interesting villain but his acting made the character so much more, simply amazing!!!
Everyone’s talking about Jerome and Oswald and they’re both absolutely talented but I think Ed and Zsasz deserve the same recognition, the director chose the perfect actors for them
Everything in this show is PERFECT!!! Penguin Is A Boss!!! Jerome (1st version) was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! Jerome (2nd version) is darker - which has me intrigued. Riddler Is Everything I would envision such a complex character like him would be. Bruce IS Bruce, Selina's Pfeiffer Homage is Awesome & Refreshing, Alfred's badassery, Bullock's cynical, reluctant heroics, etc.. JOYGASM!!!

All of Ben McKenzie's Blackgate scenes, many of which had no dialogue at all and were part of a montage, relying solely on body language and very poignant, weary, expressions. Ben and Donal as Jim and Harvey in the visiting yard was an exceptional, moving, wrenching scene, again with the heaviest part without dialogue at all, only a silent series of reactions. It continued to when Jim was on the run, trying to help the attacked women in the alley. Gotham is at its best without the over-the-top, no limits, hammed up villains that have no boundaries and are extreme acting. It's the slower, emotionally impactful moments like I described that really resonate and balance the the crazy, over-the-top parts that are so unhinged, but far easier for actors. The choreography for the fights is exceptional, so credit to the stunt coordinators and team. Again, knowing that Ben McKenzie has done his own stunts most recently on Southland, and that series won Emmy awards for its stunts, I really enjoy watching him do as much as he's allowed and extra credit for wanting to be so realistic. Ben and Donal have a great dynamic and their chemistry seems effortless because they work so well together. It's easy to forget that they're acting because they bring it to life and it's not so fantastical and zany. To me, they're the exception, and now in the 4th season, they've nailed some very heartfelt scenes that are very compelling and powerful. It's a joy to watch as distressful as it is for their on-screen characters.
Jerome/Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow, Penguin they couldn’t have casted more perfect people for these roles as villains. It’s amazing how well they portray the part

Idk how I missed this show, I think maybe I didn't realize from whatever trailer I saw that it'd have so many villains and such excellent acting. I was like nooo you're good now don't turn back evil again, but at the same I was like yasss evil penguin is back! 😂
I love how Cameron acts Jerome as if he's playing multiple eras of joker, mark hamills and heath ledger usually being obvious. It mixes it up showing the insanity of alot of the jokers in one and not making it a mess
In scene number five when the first guy pulls the trigger his whole body tenses showing that he does indeed in some part of his mind fear dying. In each shot Jerome took not once did he hesitate unless it was for the sake of the line and not once did his body tense in a part of his face or shoulders showing that even before we get to later seasons (where he proves again and again he doesn't fear death) that he is willing to die whenever it comes to him (and spoiler alert) even dies with a smile on his face (both times)
I have to admit that Corey Smith is the best portraying The Riddler he's so smart and badass in my opinion

I love how Cameron acts Jerome as if he's playing multiple eras of joker, mark hamills and heath ledger usually being obvious. It mixes it up showing the insanity of alot of the jokers in one and not making it a mess
Cameron Monaghan is one of my favorite actors right now! He's just so amazing!
what a show this was man such a shame they didn’t continue it
In scene number five when the first guy pulls the trigger his whole body tenses showing that he does indeed in some part of his mind fear dying. In each shot Jerome took not once did he hesitate unless it was for the sake of the line and not once did his body tense in a part of his face or shoulders showing that even before we get to later seasons (where he proves again and again he doesn't fear death) that he is willing to die whenever it comes to him (and spoiler alert) even dies with a smile on his face (both times)
this might be the first serious Riddler
we can all agree that jerome, penguin, and nygma are THE best
I Love How Ed Said "I Knew That You Knew...That I Knew"
The way Jerome said "creep" was AMAZING
the fact that this sshow is that underrated is a war crime
