  • This is a short glimpse into our exploration. Great little early spring exploration into the Blue Chip Gold Mine, Detected a few gold signals and took a few ore samples.

With the musical background I expected to see a dwarf with a pick standing in the entrance of The Blue Chip.

Nice tease. Hopefully, more hard rock mining to come. Although... breaking up all that rock, roasting to oxidize the sulfides, and smelting to get the gold seems like a lot of work. Panning near a nice babbling brook is much more pleasant, I suspect.

Hey Dan, I was wondering what you think about the environmental impact of your prospecting and mining in the beautiful BC. I'm no expert in mining or prospecting, but it seems that many of the larger operations (with excavators and bobcats) seem to disrupt the natural landscape quite a bit. Are there any best practices that are used by enthusiast miners that aim to protect the environment/landscape?

That is why after the prospecting they fix the terrain, replant the trees etc

Say, for example I was to go to America on vacation and spend a week hiking through all that gorgeous nature over there and I was to randomly try to pan for gold as just a life experience, to tick it off my bucket list. Would that be allowed at all? Probably not, but in how much trouble could a hypothetical prospecting tourist get really? Here in western Europe there is no gold to my knowledge. At least not as easily accessible if there even is any.

    • @bentationfunkiloglio

One way to fund out. Crush it up, roast it to oxidize the sulfides, and pan. However, probably not worth the effort for one rock. If it were me, I'd just hang onto my pretty chalcopyrite specimen.
