In the New Testament, the Hebrews were under Roman law, not Mosaic law. They were more likely to be slaves than to own slaves. New Testament slavery is thus irrelevant, and does not negate the fact that Mosaic law explicitly condoned and commanded chattel slavery.
Does the Bible condone slavery - yes it does. Over an hour of meely mouthed appology and even finger pointing at other religions. The Bible has every opportunity to say slaves should be free, it fails at every turn. Failure to condemn a wrong action IS the same as endorsing it. Not to mention all the passages that include slavery as a defacto status.
Saying the Bible supports slavery be cause it records that was once practiced, would be like saying you can buy slaves in America today because it was practiced years ago. Nevermind that some people read the Bible to find faults. You will never understand it that way.
It doesn't record that it happened, it gives you the rules you are to follow in taking, purchasing and treating your slaves. That is tacit endorsement of slavery. Most people that 'find faults' with the bible are people trying to learn more about it to strengthen their faith, and the more you actually read, the more reprehensible it becomes. The best way to lose your faith is to actually read the bible honestly.
@@mollywolfe7321 The bible does not condone slavery as we know it in this time. It does not say take slaves and do this or that with them. It documents when people who owed debt and or were taken in war and how those people were and or could be treated. Again it does not say take slaves in the context of current times If you read a documentary on a tyrant you would not assume it was a how to commentary but rather that it was telling who what when why and how for the purpose of knowing not to do those things.
Christianity was not instrumental in abolishing slavery. Some Christians opposed it, and some Christians supported it, but nothing in the Christian scriptures opposed slavery. Christians had to borrow form Humanism in order to oppose slavery.
we talking the same humanism that supports eugenics? how the soveit union wanted to liberate the world from religion and evil capitalisms? or some wishy washy nothing burger that means everything and nothing at the same time in which you will constantly move the goal post and claim no true Scotsman in order to avoid the ugly truth of that ideology
Or perhaps it was humanists who were born and raised in christian west were borrowing from christians, because their own worldview doesn't even have a leg to stand on when it comes to morality?
Sammy Boi believes in no fee will so condemning slavery is irrational and illogical as people were compelled by forces outside their control in order to practice slavery and had no choice but to do so but another case of an atheist trying to have his cake and eat it too. can't argue no free outside of one side of your face then claim ethics are somehow magically a thing outside of the other

Again, great disclosure of facts in history. Thank you men!

chapter and verse that the Hebrews absolutely had to have slaves?

Quote me saying they absolutely had to have slaves.

You have hit the nail on the head !
Just read the bible. Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
First 10 minutes: Ad-hominem and personal attacks.
Read those passages. The easy answer is yes, the bible does support slavery.
What is your definition of Slavery?

Once again, just read the bible and you will get your answer.
"Sam Harris radically biased..."
...towards truth. Not a problem for you, though.
