I can’t believe teachers were expected to do all of that packing while students were still attending class. Glad you’re enjoying summer.
Yes this is insane. They should have given them a day or 2 after the school year was done. Those last couple of days of school with students are exhausting even without moving.
My students helped me pack up my room at the end of the year and it was the best decision ever.... i never would have finished without their (voluntary) help!
The folks who made that decision don't understand that packing up a room is such a task.
Wow… that was a lot of packing and yes I can’t believe they made you all pack while school was still in session. Not only the stress and time put in but also major liability if one of those boxes was to fall and injure one of your students.

I had to be done by dismissal as well. We’re moving into an old building while ours is being torn down and a new building is being built. People don’t understand how much work is involved with packing and unpacking a classroom. Good luck.
Oh Kim! I am feeling sorry for you right now, as you have to unpack all of this before setting up your classroom! Best of luck to you going into the new school year and I will be thinkimg about you! At least the renovations should make it nice to come back to. ❤

This is absolutely crazy! I would’ve gone insane lol. I see why you needed a mental break after living this!!! Reminder to self: less is more lol. Going to my classroom next week to get rid of stuff that just isn’t needed.
Kim I thought I would share this quick story with you. Many years ago when I was teaching in Central Florida, our practically brand new High School (less than 10 years old) had massive reconstruction done due to a construction issue when it was built. The entire high school had to pack up and move to portables for an entire school year. I teach science so you can imagine I had to pack not only my own teaching stuff but all of the lab equipment and supplies. Now here is the wrinkle to this, we had to pack double is the only way I can put it, we had to pack stuff that we anticipated we would need during the next year and then everything else went into storage, which we were going to have very limited access to. The Portable i taught out of the next year had two sinks one was in the bathroom (only nice part was having my own bathroom). I can very much relate to how much stress you were feeling. Hope you are enjoying your vacation, looking forward to classroom set up.

3years ago our school was knocked down and rebuilt. It was A LOT of work. I had a total of 90+ boxes packed. It really is so much to do but at the end it was so worth it.
