- Joe DaSilva has been racing and building Mustangs his entire adult life. We look at his 1986 LX 5.0 Pro 5.0 that's now Coyote-powered. He's still banging the gears 36 years later in NMRA action and he has big news for 2023!
Man makes me miss my 85 jalapeño red GT.
Awesome to see Joe back at the track. As a Canadian I followed him (and MM&FF) as I Built my 84GT. My car only went 11's but i dreamed of a Pro 5.0 car. Great memories.
he had a customer back then Louie Kouvacis?? it was a blue coupe, it was a pretty sweet SSO car i believe. it was painted nitrous bottle blue the feature article said, ill never forget that
That’s awesome
Old Pro 5.O!! Great to see my Man JD❤
I was just wondering what happened to him the other day. 👍🏼
What a blast from the past. Joe and Paul built my motor together back in 1999. It's still in my car and it's still fast. Thank you Evan I really appreciate this
Oh clean 4 eyes
good stuff.
Old Pro 5.O!! Great to see my Man JD❤
I was waiting to hear his future plans with the car, Godzilla?
1) a Canadien saying people in the states are really nice is funny. super cool to see he held on to his racecar all these years later. i went to a few of the J&P shootout races in Canada, that was a good time, 2 of my good freinds worked, and crewed for Pande Talevski on his pro.0 car so i got to hang with them in the pits, i met the Spetters Sr and Jr there, and i met Joe, super nice guy. there was a green foxbody coupe at one of those races, it had a 32 valve Cobra mod motor with a Vortech on it it was really fast, first mod swap into a fox id seen, it eas featured in MM&FF not long after that, my buddy Dom who was on Pandes crew, and later on Millens, and Tofies crews, bought that green coupe, it got turbo'd and street raced here in Detroit, and at some of the first NO\ET events at Milan Dragway. on a side note, pretty cool seeing the Greco's pro5.0 car at the begining of the video👍it was always one of my favorites. i hope there are many more surviving Pro5.0 cars out there, these features youve done are awesome Evan, thanks👍
Thank you for the comment, I think the Green 32-valve car was the Ford Prototype.
he sold it later and then had the black coupe thats now powered by a Godzilla motor and runs 7s😁
@@motownXJdad9565 wish I knew what issue that mod fox appeared was in as I had it and it burned years ago in a house fire
@@jerryb9591 Bummer😐
oh man, thats a shame, sorry for your loss. it was in another magazine too while my buddy Dom owned it, it wasnt mm&ff or 5.0, it was another magazine i cant remember
Hey Evan! Thanks for the great video (not because I'm in it lol) it was nice to be in Bowling Green, KY to see people from the past and the present. You have a great channel here and hope many more follow it. Always have great insight on alot of Ford products and tech info, keep up the good work.
Joe, Good to see ya. You helped me and my friends out. We were out of Chicago at the time. Porting our GT40 heads and intake and Edelbrock heads. Always hanging out with you at WFC.
Awesome content! As I've said before in a different video of yours (REVan Evan) I was part of the JP Race Team back in the 90s including one of the 6 race cars that came out of the 18-wheeler tractor trailer that pulled up at Maple Grove Raceway for the Ford Motorsport Nats in '97. Those were the best of times! 🍻
Much thanks for watching, those were indeed great times.
TBT very cool 😎 thx Evan 👍

I never got to visit BG. My loss! Love watching all of these great Fords racing! I subscribed to Super Ford mag. way back when. I hated it when they folded, still had months left on the sub.!❤
Me to, loved seeing all sorts of fast cool Fords !!
Yes, one of my favorite cars from back in the day. He had a bad Pro 5.0 car too lol...
Great content Evan Joe has in the racing community for long time in Canada, great to see him more relax and enjoying racing again.👍🇨🇦😎💪🍺
Thank you
What exhaust is on that car? Does it have mufflers or is it open? It sounds awesome!
Hey Evan just a heads up the interview part of the video had a issue with the sound really loud and distorted somewhat other than that great video and content
Thanks for the info, my mic seemed to not function great.
Awesome foxbody!
Great a Moostang that's fast with out a CHEVY engine in it!
I remember the Border Bandits well! They ran a fastback & squareback Mustangs. Can't remember if they were '68 or '69's. I remember reading an article that was done on them,I believe it was in SS&DI. They said the squareback was a little faster.❤🇺🇸🇨🇦😎👍
Always a great interview! Love those mustangs!!!!!
Joe is one cool cat!
Wow! I remember Joe being in the MM & FF magazine and PRO 5.0 magazine. Back in 92’ when I first got heavy into 5L street scene here in Chicago. I gotta bring my purestreet car back out now😂😂😂
I don't wanna be that guy, but 1st.
Great upload
joe is a great guy i met him in person in canada ....i worked at a fiberglass company and joe would buy hoods from us.....
Legend
Englishtown is no more :(
Joe's a great guy. In late 1988 I bought an '86 GT from Donway Ford just down Eglinton from J&P and stopped in before i got it home for a little tweaking.
Legend!!
Thanks Evan for doing this...Joe and Paul are hard workers and would go out of there way to help us. I wish I would have got some ice cream off ya at indy ,lol.
You gotta love the Ford guys they are always the Underdog at the Drags
Anybody who knows Joe knows he pretends to be the underdog. He's backing up into the burnout box water with drag radials on a "street car" because when he pulled up around the tower he's going to go against a 9 second car he can't beat. The new kid at the burnout box doesn't know who he is and is yelling "hey, no treaded tires in the water". What does Joe say? "Oh sorry, it's my first time". We all laughed and the kid doesn't know why. I've seen the car run since 1986. Ask him about the night he was racing his wife's Dodge Lancer against a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Every race he got closer until he cut some accessory belts off and then the T-Bird didn't want to run anymore. Unknown to many he used to be an Dodge 2.2 guy.
PS. Don't give him a microphone...
good guys met them in Canada here at one of our tracks nice to see them still raceing
Great video. Awesome seeing cars and drivers from the heydays of Mustang racing still at it .
Thank you.
That's awesome Evan enjoyed that very much and God bless Mr silver will it becomes down on a regular basis and bring us back those great memories of the old but in the new now
Great guy
🇨🇦
Another great vid. This channel hands down brings up the sighs n sounds of my love for foxes as kid late 90s. I learn something new every vid.
Thanks for watching Michael.
Love the fox body, and nice to se a fellow 🇨🇦 At the track.
Man that looks like fun.
What a cool guy.
Great to see him run and having fun with his wife.
That’s awesome! Freaking blast from the past!!! I remember meeting him at MM&FF rumble by the river race in Memphis like 26-27 years ago I was a fan of the square light cars
Seen this car at Milan, Michigan
That is awesome. I've been reading about him in all the mustang magazines since the 1990's and articles that you wrote and photo'd!
I love Joe Dasilva, Dasilva Racing has done all the work on my 1991 Mustang 5.0 LX Coupe since new. His staff of mechanics are the best in the business. Thanks Joe.
For all your 79-22 Mustangs needs or repairs go to Dasilva Racing #1.
"Classic & historical" Pretty much sums up Joe as well!
Joe and Paul, are honestly the most honest guys I’ve ever dealt with, in my life! Good people,, best in the business. They tuned / port matched intake/ added bcam to my car in the 90’s,,, then i bought a sweet roller(86,white gt , troofs), for a great price(wish i still had it)
Then they built my engine, Paul said,, just go .02 over,,, leave yourself another clean up if needed,,,literally a trip to watch this video and think about the time I spent driving from London to Scarborough
Excellent video getting to the DETAILS. The interview is really thorough and so very informative. Thanks Evan and Joe
In the spring of '88 I made an EGR coolant bypass setup for my '88 GT. Because it was mostly street driven I used an old coolant overflow bottle with 50/50 antifreeze & water. That mix ran through a small trans cooler via a cheap AC Delco electric fuel pump. The upper intake was always cool to the touch unless it was really hot out, which then became just warm. I knew the concept would catch on eventually.
Love it! Which g force transmission is that? I'm in the marker for something that will shift around 8500rpm? Was thinking a liberty built top loader? Straight cut face plated G force t5?
I enjoyed that. Being Canadian and a fan of Pro5.0 the DaSilva Bros were favourites. (note the proper spelling there)
Awesome... Great to see our friends from the north... And did you see the "church key" on the ignition key? Canadians, always prepared
i remember this car in so many publications.....it has always been bad ass.
his 1st gear, 2nd, gear, 3rd.........was priceless. that is a man that loves this for the real reasons of racing. awesome.
What a pleasure it is to know this great Canadian racer. I have been a customer of Joe and DaSilva Racing forever. Joe is every bit the fine gentleman and friendly guy that he appears to be in Revin Evan''s video, and smart too. Going cruising with him and his customers today to benefit Toronto's Sick Children's Hospital.
Great seeing Joe and that awesome car back on the track.
I bet the best thing about going back to your roots is getting to wear your blue jeans while making a pass.
Hi Evan! Joe is a class act! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. Love his 86 coyote Fox body. I miss my 85 gt 347 stroker I sold a couple of years ago and kept my 67 Gt 460 big block. Wished I would of kept the Fox and sold the 67! Cheers from Motown!
Thanks for watching Robert, I hope you are subscribed. I bet your '85 was awesome.
@@revanevan Hi Evan, Yes I am subscribed sir! The 85 gt hatchback was awesome. I miss that car!
