the bridges moving out of the scenario were always a welcome "solve". I haven' played a game like this since INSIDE. the creativity and the sound were a welcomed inspirational moment in video game....history. Yep....this is a 10/10 for me. It really has the aspects of early nintendo nostalgia, with the "graphics that i always wanted" sentiments. It is truly a work of video game art. One button to rule them all...
I was waiting for this game for a while and I just 100% Cocoon today. Cocoon did NOT disappoint. Definitely made it to my list of favorite indie games of all time. It’s up there alongside Journey, Abzû, Unravel, Stray, and Jusant. It’s mind-boggling and atmospheric. Will replay it in about a year just because. Edit: I’m also anxiously awaiting for Sword of the Sea. I have a feeling that game will make it to my list of favorite indies of all time.
This game is such a mind bending experience! Beat it last evening without checking on RUclips for solutions when I was stuck, but It was never for too long and got every single puzzle (except for a few Moon Guardians). It's an exceptional game with crazy art direction and superb puzzle design. A must for gamers looking for something as solid as it is different. I also see some Hyper Light Drifter influences in terms of music and color palettes. Fascinating and highly recommended.
The music is soothing, the puzzles are fun and become challenging as you go along with creative/clever ways to solve them, furthermore, the colors are vibrant and the animations are well-made. especially the animation when you go into the sphere world from within. If you like Inside, Tunic, and Planet of Lana, you are going to have a blast with this one as well short, sweet, weird, and delightful. One of the best indie games this year. High recommended it
The game does have a thought provoking narrative. Each time you escape a world you save it from the chthulu-like being grasping it. In the end you release all the worlds as planets in a solar system and it turns out there’s an even bigger all powerful chthulu-like god being outside of that. It made more sense in the beginning of my second playthrough. Who are these beings tho? That’s pretty thought provoking to me. I doubt they make sequels but it almost sets up an even more mind expanding sequel that goes beyond and makes that larger universe just another micro universe within many others.
Thank you so much for this review! I've never heard of this, but I'm super stoked. And _Inside_ and _Limbo_ are both incredible, and I love about everything Annapurna has ever put out....
Like Limbo and Inside before it, Cocoon world thoroughly captivated me beginning to end, the clever gameplay was just icing on top of a most excellent cake
The puzzles are satisfying, but not particularly difficult until the end of the game, and even then, the way they're walled off from previous areas means that you can't accidentally wander off-path looking for answers.
Just finished the third boss, but I’m yet to be really amazed by any of the puzzles. It’s all been very simple ‘put thing in box (or world) pass through barrier, then take it out again’ kind of stuff. For me, the amazing part of playdead puzzles is more the weird and surreal elements the puzzle comprises of and their audiovisual design. When you replace all of that with balls and generic little drones it becomes pretty boring imo.
I’m afraid I might be returning this game if it doesn’t pick up soon. When I started I was like “oh cool, some puzzling. I wonder if I solve this puzzle there might be some action. Oh. Another puzzle. Well, maybe the game will really start once I solve this one. Nope. Another puzzle.” Puzzles are a fun feature in a game, but when that’s the entirety of the game.. kind of a bummer
It’s almost like it is a puzzle game. You must’ve not did any homework on this game or the creator behind it, in which the other titles are also puzzle games.
Finished Cocoon a few days ago. Such an intricate and well designed puzzle game! Struck a good balance in terms of difficulty. Really enjoyed it!

These 3 minute reviews are perfect! I’m gonna pick up Cocoon because I loved Limbo and Inside.
Not going to watch this review because I already bought it, but I LOVE IT so far. Very satisfying mechanics, and the sound design is stellar.

Clearly you’ve never played an indie that wasn’t a puzzle game for low IQ dummies

Yeah this game was amazing! One of the best puzzle games I've ever played! 10/10
I've had my eye on this game for a couple months, and this review makes me want to get it even more!
Thank you so much for this review! I've never heard of this, but I'm super stoked. And _Inside_ and _Limbo_ are both incredible, and I love about everything Annapurna has ever put out....
Why is no one speaking about the last achievement? This is literally the total explanation of the whole game😮
I’ve been really enjoying the indie titles loaded up on Xbox Game Pass recently.
Really reminds me of the Xbox Live Arcade days of the 360.
Definitely gonna check it out. Thanks for reviewing games that often don't get much exposure!
Like Limbo and Inside before it, Cocoon world thoroughly captivated me beginning to end, the clever gameplay was just icing on top of a most excellent cake
This looks fantastic! Such a cool, unique visual style, and the mechanics look neat, though i worry they'll break my brain hehe. Nice review KC!

I kind of wish I'd stopped watching the review and just bought this. Looks really interesting.
I will be adding this to my Steam wishlist as soon as I can today. Thanks for a great quick review!
"How dumb are you? You're inside a simulation, of a simulation.. inside another giant simulation!"
The game is a simulation.
I agree that the game was the perfect length. Ended right as I was feeling the puzzles were out of variance
Just started playing this on PC Gamepass i'm blow away by this game so far.
Great 3MR, KC
This looks like such a fantastic game
Is it weird that when I clicked on this I assumed it was gonna be a review of that old sci fi movie that takes place in a retirement home?
This game is awesome!
Cool 👍 Ill try it out
I love everything about this one
Finally....PONDERING MY ORB TIME
I'm just confused as to the lack of horny retirees. But you know, at least this movie tie-in has aliens, so there's some connection.
Does not have Wilford Brimley or his mustache. 0/10.

Things really pick up after you get the purple orb. Some of the puzzles in the last 10-20% of the game are quite difficult.
Is this quite literally just ant man jumping into the quantum thing lol
So. It's not based on the 1985 film?😆
I had the same thought
Patrick's Parasphere
I guess Inception would not give permission to use the IP. Still, an interesting concept I would definitely explore!
Finally, after like 20 years, the prequel to Jade Cocoon
Lol, jokes
Pretty colors
Saw this game on humble bundle and wonder what the heck it was about. Looks quite good, will add it to the wishlist!
"After police academy, Steve Guttenberg's next best film. The ending was meh."
gotta love obtuse stories!
