- This was the first RSAF commercial to be aired on TV. I recorded it off the TV on VHS and converted it to DVD. The ad was also aired in the cinema during the screening of the movie "Top Gun".
As far as I'm aware, there are no other original copies of this ad kept either by SBC or Mindef/RSAF.
As the video setting is public, you may share the link. However, please do not download the video and superimpose credits or logos in order to pass it off as your original content.
Thank you.
PS: The F-5 is a joy to fly.
It was an honour to play on this track (drums). Glad to know we did the Air Force proud. It wasn't just a jingle to us. It was our tribute to the people on the front line of our defence.
Thanks for this nice song. Love the catchy tune and lyrics. How did you guys come to be involved in the ad?
This was shot during a brief interlude when each of the 3 services had different rank insignia for the officers.
Wondering where the pilot in the video could be today. Did he become a General or did he went on to fly for SQ. He should be long retired by now.
I am the pilot in the video. I moved to SQ thirty years ago and am now flying the A-380.
when i take to the air
all my dreams come true
flying high through the clouds and into the blue
it's my life
it's what i wanna do
i wouldnt change it for anything else
when i get my feet back on the ground
sharing my time with the people around
the future looks good to me
cause the skies the limit
when im seating up here, the world is at my feet
im free as a bird and my life's complete
it's my life
it's what i wanna do
i give all the world to be
where i am
Not many know of this video except the older Warriors. :)
@Altarcraft And the F-5s are still flying operationally with the RSAF!. But they should be retiring soon.
Wow you are really the pilot! That is amazing!
wow great lyrics
i saw a few old rookies here. i had never had a chance 2 work with u all b4 but i definitely heard of u all.
i just need 2 grumble a bit here. excess baggage fr long ago.
can't u all de-kit properly when u all stop flying totally.
i was still doing servicing 4 ur items even when u all r no longer around caz no1 said anything. lol....
Which items? Some treasured kit now sitting in display cases.
@@ewpc61 lol... was not expecting a response....!! hahahaha....
anyway, it was ur g suit, 55P, 5P etc...!!! my time was already 12P. now i dun know la.
when i saw them, i was like going.... ok... need 2 revamp the whole squadron's ses/lss room again.!! yrs of works 2 b done. it happened everytime when i go to a new sqn.
there was this time after sorting everything. i got more than 80 names on my inventory. there should only b less than 40 pilots.... active, staff, ns.... AFO around the corner some more. u all really make me work....
some already migrated to Aust like FOO J. should b him or some other guy. the 1 that settle in perth. can't really remember who. how 2 get them 2 come back n dekit?? the items r still under ur personal inventory. my bay IC n I r ...??? shake head....!!!! lsso is of no use.....!! but i thk he did managed to get some retired guys 2 come back n cleared the items with bay.
however, thk god, things r still not fully computed in2 the system so still can help u guys 2 dekit or RSAF will 1 day call u out of the blue n ask u 2 come back n pay 4 the items. if i remember correctly, helmet is around 10k. g suit around 5K.
ur juniors especially the tcu very gd at buttering me up when they know i m going to send them 2 scrape.
some they asked me 4 display in aircrew rm, 1 even ask me 4 BA22A 4 the museum. sorry, that is beyond me. go n ask bay. there was even 1 that asked 4 lpu10 to display on the wall of their room. hey, i m no miracle worker.
some ask 4 the old visors, the yellow visors, those simple items... but they cheapo la. bribed me with coke only. should have up my price.... LOL...
now these tcu, some r already majors a few yrs back. time flies.... we r old already... but we did good work back then. cheers to all old birds n our new gens.
@@michelleyip9507 Thank you for your help. On behalf of all my fellow squadron mates, I apologise for all the trouble that we caused. And yes, how time flies.
@@ewpc61 no prob. it was my job. just an old aunty whining a bit here, thinking back on those old days.
when i was revamping the whole room, it was stressful but looking back now, it was a memory.
some parts fr yesterday once more.
"Lookin' back on how it was in years gone by
And the good times that I had
Makes today seem rather sad, so much has changed.
All my best memories come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry, just like before
It's yesterday once more"
Woah 30 years ago?!
42 now
@melferdinands - that's right. Thanks for the info. Would you by any chance be related to the singer or the band members?
