After a spectacularly arrogant gaffe makes him an outcast in his own country, a pampered Scottish rugby star struggles to rebuild his career--and life--in the American Midwest.
Even at the highest level, rugby didn't pay players until the mid-1990s; it held on to the amateur ideal far longer than any other sport. And now, greedy but talented Keir and his old school father, rugby legend Finlay Kilgour, find themselves stranded on opposite sides of that ideal. As Keir ascends to the pinnacle of Scottish professional rugby, his drive for fame and money collides with his quest for respect from his critical father.
Following an appalling act of selfishness on Scotland's biggest rugby stage, Keir thinks he has nowhere to turn. He flees his rugby background in a delusional pursuit of greater stardom in the high profile world of professional American football. But in America, Keir's arrogance betrays him, and he winds up playing for a lousy rugby team in Kansas City instead of the NFL. As circumstances force Keir to take baby steps toward growing up, he guides his new team to respectability. Along the way, Keir figures out a way to show his father Finlay that they're not so different after all. Keir then takes his scrub team from Kansas City to Scotland to play in front of his father. But new big-money temptations once again threaten to derail Keir's attempts at reconciliation with Finlay. In the end, Keir has to choose between his own ideals or his father's.
As someone who's played organized football and rugby in America, I'm going to definitely disagree with the notion that rugby is a tougher sport. Getting a hard plastic helmet or shoulder pad launched into the ribs (Which are typically unpadded) hurts a lot more than getting wrap-tackled by a human body, which is significantly softer. They're both physically demanding (And awesome) sports, don't sell American football short just because it involves pads.

this movie was crap. Moves to America and never tries a drop goal. Only 5 guys ever show up at practice, most slobs and then they become competitive (still the guy never tries a drop goal). Bollocks! Crap movie
I don't know how I feel about this movie. I love the idea of rugby movies but I don't think Hollywood knows how to film it. I think they really need to get away from the "Rugby is like American football" idea and just make a film about rugby. Granted with getting away from that idea I also think they need to stop with these stupid sins of the father motifs. As a rugby player I like the idea of trying to bring rugby to the average American, we really need to start acknowledging this great sport.

Who said scotland can't play rugby ?, of course they can, they have beaten every International top team in the world except the Nzl All Blacks.
Rugby and American Foot ball are hard sports in both sports you have to go through painful exercises, and the hits in both sports are very brutal. American foot ball is kind of harder because you have to play with pads and a helmet so you got extra weight on you.

I suggest you rethink.,.. The US eagles are in the top 20 teams.. It is a solid tier 2 nation. Ok not yet in the Tri-nations league but reasonable.. If I recall the history the Rugby Union is one of the oldest ball games in USA with games reported to be played in 1820s
this looks stupid. this is supposed to be promoting rugby? the protagonist is doing just the opposite, thinking he runs the show when he goes over to america. just makes him and the country/sport hes representing completely arrogant.
Make a rugby league movie, about the kiwis winning the world cup lol, UNION's for Women.

@flashash2k9 Remember in UNION the scrum takes a shit load of time, and the line outs if not thrown straight will come back to a scrum to waste more time, A penalty within your opponents half ? ... oh I might kick for goal ... penalty within your half ? ... oh I might kick for touch then watch my team mates do a wedgey on my lock at the line-out, and if not thrown straight, ill either kick for goal, waste 5 more mins on a scrum, create 17 phases gain a penalty and kick for a goal, boring
