marketing aside. This is fresh air for Homelab & Stream Computers. Sprinkle in some nice ASRock Rack or similar boards and this ages like fine wine again.
I do wish it had more PCIE lanes but I'll make it work for my home NAS rebuild. Now just need to wait and see what kind of boards Supermicro or Asrock Rack drop for the platform.
@@nadtz yea more pcie lanes would have been amazing
@@timgels2918 Already existing Plattform. 28 is better than 24 though :)
@@nadtzmaybe the board partners will offer a board the splits the PCIE 5.0 lanes into twice as many PCIE 4.0 lanes.
The problem is that these are essentially just marketing. There is fundamentally nothing special that separates them from Ryzen CPUs other than the laser etching that says Epyc. AM5 is what it is as far as functionality, so these can't give you anything more than that. They can sell them to people that will be more comfortable with the Epyc brand for small server use, while they are just re-repurposed Ryzen CPUs.
I know someone will bring this up, but ECC has to be implemented at the board firmware level which once it is works just fine on Ryzen CPUs. Something that would have had more meaningful is RDIMM support, but that would only require special boards for the different slots.
Best part about this is with this launch, we're gonna see a flush of new servers on eBay that are 'old' tech but still perfect for my homelab.
2:27 That thermal paste application..💀💀💀
💀
Hmmm... if you look at the chip layout behind the cover, it may make sense.
I guess some people requested the engraved "AMD Epyc" to be visible for the shooting.
@@arthurziborov3023yeah, I think of that too.
@@Ch4ngue lmao! makes sense
AMD chads stay winning 💪💪
It seems cool, but i can't figure out how these are different from the ryzen 7000 chips. It makes sense that it'd be inspired by the ryzen lineup, but whats different about it being an "epyc" cpu? Hardware accelerated encryption?
@@mtrebtreboschi5722It gives the customer some EPYC specific features and certifications while also coming in at Ryzen prices for these CPUs.
@@mtrebtreboschi5722 better hypervisor support and stuff that we might not care about ... I will stay with bmy 5900x powered homeserver because I smell marketing BS

Best price performance! 🔑
intel 4004 vs amd 4004 benchmark when
🤣🤣
u gotta be serious
Can you explain? Are those old CPUs?@@sprintercasher8716
It's all nice and fun until you test an Intel 5960X vs an AMD 5950X and start to wonder what the hell went wrong with Intel in the last 11years.
Intel model number is 404... 😂
Supermicro is at it again, and putting out new server products before everyone else.
Nice. A new great competitive with these Xeon W
Xeon W? More like AMD W
Not quite, xeon w is on a different league in terms of price, expandability, io .
@@nickbarkas5774 You know what else is? A Threadripper 7000
@@one_step_sideways Threadripper 7000 is different and larger than this
Will it work on am5 motherboard
Seems to be the same socket but probably its going to be vendor locked.
@@DonPatro92 I hope not. The whole point is being cheap enough for consumers
yes
@@user-lp5wb2rb3v Cheap enough for SMBs.
SMB != consumer.
🤣😂🙃Nice Reference to The Intel 4004 !!!
Exactly what I thought
hopefully 2x 16core zen4c in the future? also would have been nice with more pcie lanes
4004? That reminds me of something.. ;)
80085
Damn those are pretty nice. Well done AMD !!!
These are just Zen4 CPUs slapped with an "EPYC" label, although it does make me wonder if these could be used in normal motherboards, if so then it would mean the first 4 core Zen4 CPU (Not APU), although obviously not very cost-effective considering it's $150 when the 7600 is currently $189.
If they're not, i'm sure someone will crack it.
2:15 lil bro has 200 ping
Thank god for captions.
Thank you again AMD!
1:59 emotional damage 😂
You should have given us more pcie lane for 8700g for future upgrade. Such good cpu can't be attached with good gpu is a shame😢😢😢
No GPU you could ever hope to use with the 8700G will need all those lanes. There is no real perceptible performance hit running a 4090 at 8x, and the APUs aren't fast enough to fully push a top end GPU even if it did. You'll be absolutely fine.
Cool, outstanding💪
Does it now compete with Aliexpress's Xeon?
EPYC 4584PX has 3D-Vcache and looks quite interesting. $699 it appears similar to the Ryzen 9 7800X3D. Intrested to see it in gaming ;-)
it's much more similar to a 7950X3D
Good work AMD
whoa
is this using AM5 socket? But the IO on AM5 motherboard is terrible due the chipset limitation
Hope there is new motherboard series that at least have the same IO like Intel board,
What do you mean? I have 4 usb4 ports on my x670e.
@@tstager1978 internal IO not external
@@heickelrrx I wish they had more lanes and quad channel memory. I have a 7950x now but I used to have 1st gen threadripper and I loved to extra lanes. I wish they would have standardized on 8 sata ports as well. I had to install an extra sata controller for my tiered storage on am5. I need more than just nvme drives. Nvme is expensive for multiple terabytes of data and vm's.
Here I was hoping for an actual new product line like the introduction of something like “AM5+” with 32+4+4+4 PCIe lanes and 4 memory channels, silly me.
Hey AMD! Normalize your audio to 14 LUFS next time
Will it work with current A, B and X motherboards? I am sure it will need a BIOS update but that is to be expected.
My wish is that you make a line of SOCs in this line for embedded.
1. Made in the US. It is a requirement for some of the projects I work on.
2. BGA
3. -40c to +80c
4 The SOC includes SATA and a 10 gig NIC.
WOW, OVH got mention. i can confirm OVH is the best Provider Cloud/Hosting
Great AMD! Keep going, keep growing ❤
AMD: we take system stability very seriously.
Intel: look at our base line profile
I am new in AMD ecosystem, and after some research, I think EPYC processors (putting aside power consumption) are very well thought out. I love the simplicity of the naming scheme. It's not like in Ryzens / Threadrippers (or whoever knows what is going on there) series. I hope thanks to AI all the marketing teams have been already fired, so they will NOT create stupid names like EPYC Pro / EPYC Ultra / EPYC Uber / EPYC ...
This is a best product for homelab too
AMD 🎉🎉
Hi. I would like to know when I will see 4 memory channels 7200MT/s and V-Cache for both AMD CPU and ATI GPU in this legendary APU product, for consumers.
Supermicro has only one server board for the 4004! 😂 And i am sure the session bug in the ipmi will not be fixed in it!
hope this is like another opteron 180! IYKYK
are these AM5 chips?
Epic Epyc
AMD YES!
Wait os that AM5?
I feel by this video that zen5 will be delayed
192GB of RAM is a silly limit, why not go to 256GB? (2x128GB sticks or 4x64GB sticks considering it's 2 channel)
Don't think this product line was thought out.
Seems kinda weak for server. Cant the consumer chips do that anyway?
@@mtrebtreboschi5722 well Ryzen can be used they are not certified to use ECC memory and may not have the features on silicon that these EPYC CPU’s have.
Personally, I like the freedom of choice since these cost about the same amount as the Ryzen chips.
you mean intel 4004 right?
I'm waiting on APUs that'll be on par with Mid-Range GPUs for 1440p gaming both Desktop and Mini PCs...something similar to Strix Halo.
Me too but I think AMD will disappoint again. The 8700g is barely better than a PS4. I think that since they got the console contracts in 2013 they started slacking on the GPU side of the APUs.
Strong APUs would canibalize their console business.
@@87crimson PC vs console sales have very little correlation at all
AMD....please. I'm ready to upgrade I need more info on ZEN 5!!

the volume on this is so damn low. Am I wrong ?
Nope, seems they kept the peaks lower like you would expect in movies and tv instead of the ear bleeding volumes that most RUclips channels use
Low sound, high performance.
Have you tried turning the volume knob up or pressing the volume + button?
Did you guys hire Intel marketing and product managers from the 2010s?
I cant wait to replace my i5 7500 in the next 5 years when people start dumping these on used sites
I think you make mobile processors the same way Snapdragon company makes processors for laptops.
the rumours were taken as a joke. i said let em cook. they cooked.
Hi John, can you AMD EPYC run GTA 6 ?
Greate
thank you amd for keeping prices reasonable and not price grudging like NVIDIA. keep up the good work
The elect one blesses AMD for what is done! There is no greater God than the elect one and there is no greater judgment of being righteous! May God bless you eternally from today!
Based AMD as always👍👌
Please work know your PyTorch integration. This is a major bottleneck for AI workloads. NVIDIA is seamless in this regard. What’s happened to the PyTorch on windows supported by AMD GPUs? Also, the current rocm is clunky at best!
These specs look the awful lot like the consumer ryzen 7000 series chips. What is the difference between the 4584px and the 7950x3d? Hardware accelerated encryption?
only 28 pcie lanes and dual channel support? it's not a server cpu, it's a desktop client cpu, sorry
why 7000 llook so different

Small business and home lab customers. Well the CPUs may not have as high specifications as the other EPYC family chips these come at a much more attractive and affordable price for customers.
I learned nothinh
Its just 28 lanes!!! NO Thank you!!! To be an cheap server entry level we need at least 36 lanes , 28 I have on CONSUMER level at lower cost. LANES ! DO YOU UNDERSTAND? ITS VERY IMPORTANT!
the second NVIDIA cpus hit the market oh boi what will happen
ppl will buy NVIDIA CPUS only cuz it be crazy fast
Wills it plays Minecraft?
RIP intel
Dear AMD, GI1 is late, there's nothing impressive coming, it's boring. FSR3.1 won't mean much if it's noticebly worse than XESS1.3 per fps. I saw cyberpunk 900p>4k and the quality difference vs fsr is unreal. Plus, it can be upgraded by swapping dll. Please, don't make june only about gpus, release some tech preview or tech demo, anything. I begin to question my GPU purchase.
why not fix ram performance hunger and combability first
Too bad AMD GPU's are useless for AI and nobody in the industry uses AMD CPU's to train neural nets on. Only clients remaining are the linear logic server providers and some gamers, who can't afford the card they actually want from a competing brand. Now sales are down something like 40% year over year. Enough to ruin AMD, if this continues for 1-2 more years. If they can't get AI devs on board, it'll be like selling a console with no games. No amount of marketing and fake smiles can compensate for that fact.
Pin please🥹🥲📌
We got epyc am5 but we didn't get Ryzen 3/athlon am5 what a joke
High performance cpu with 24 pcie lanes? 😂😂😂😂
It is not even able to get a decent storage controller and a decent two port 10/25gbe nic.
Are there any plans to build a decent workstation/entry server cpu with 40~64 pcie gen5 lanes that is not going to cost about 1500 euros and that has at least 3~5 manufacturers actually releasing mainboards?
I will no longer buy AMD graphics cards we always be left way behind with raytracing and framerate
