talent is defined as an ability you are born with and can do without really thinking about it(e.g. being fast, extroverted, great hand-eye coordination, amazing voice, etc)
skill is something that can be taught (e.g. the law, customer service, how to code)
playing piano, or reallly any instrument falls into both categories. the talent part is the ability to learn to play the instrument both easier and more quickly than others, and the skill part is practicing and devleoping playing that instrument.

As a piano major and teacher myself it's normal, I've seen a lot of different techniques and they're all valid unless they give you pain, or excessive tension.
