Hiya Lou. Great choice this week. I think I can honestly say that we're all looking forward to 'sharply streaming' the next couple of weeks of this endeavor with you. And that we will be 'spinning' on the 'edge' of our seats all through this 'marathon' of construction greatness. 🤭👍
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
That is one impressive kit. Looks like 1/12th scale, lots of room for painting and other detail that doesn't really work in typical car scales like 1/25th. The original Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies too, and the Spinner one of my favorite SF cars. No need to apologize for your "scattered" presentation, we get it. There are as you said so many interlocking things which determine order of operation that you had better test-fit everything several times to make sure you don't lock yourself out of getting something critical where it needs to go later. Your cautious "plan ahead" process is pretty much the same as mine.
Nice to see a Bladerunner model joining your collection. And a big one at that, saw the full size spinner at an auto show decades ago and this kit does it justice. Can't wait to see it lit up fully 😊
I have a 1:17 scale BSG Colonial Viper MKII from Tony Celliers of Digital Dynamic Creations . And I have purchased a working DRADIS screen from Brickstuff. And the Big ass engine lighting kit and the cockpit lighting kit from Mad Man Lighting ( that came with no" instructions with the circuit boards . I am too" scared to attempt to bring it to life now", but have high hopes for the future . Lou you are an inspiration . your videos help more than you know. please keep up the good work you are much appreciated .
Congrats the Rosie making the magazine. You should do the rest of the Jetson collection They are fairly simple but make a great display. Steve does a great job with his models. I just finished Marvin Martin and K9 his intrepid hound.
@@aztekdummy The shoes are the hardest part these were made to print from different colored filaments so there would be no painting. You can merge the parts using a 3d editor like fusion 360 or even Tinkercad if you want them better suited for resin printing.
Another classic Lou. You make it look so easy sometimes. I have Randy's K Spinner and it looks like that way lies madness... Can't wait to see your progress on the original spinner.
I may have missed the mention of the kit’s scale, but if it’s close to 1/12th scale you may want to consider using NECA figures (mostly from “Blade Runner 2049” though) to make an interesting diorama (such as having the figure on a scratch built base and the Spinner launching from the ground atop its billowing thrust)! This is going to be a fantastic build!!! Can’t wait for each week’s installment!
This is great Lou!! Blade Runner is one of My all time favorite movies. I read the book by Philip Dick "Do androids dream of electric sheep"? It was good but some how I thought the movie was better. Anyways...I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on this kit week to week.
Wish I could afford one of these so looking forward to this build big time. Love listening to you figure out how you’re going to tackle a kit and any problems that arise.
I´m really looking forward to this build! However, I´m curious as to why you need the doors to open if you´re only going to display it in flight mode. You could save yourself some time and effort by glueing them shut! Or do you intend to be able to remove the Gaff and Deckard puppets so that you can play with them...? Regards, Swami
That's a great point. I want the doors to open to get a better view of the interior details. I don't know how clean the windshield will be by time I'm finished
My guess would be that those 4 "Bumpers" (35:25) are magnetic resonance distance sensors. Very important if you´re flying in tight urban areas! (I had some retrofitted onto my Delorean... Makes it much easier to avoid diagonally parking in parallel universes!)
If the instructions, as you say differ from the kit - One of the reasons this occurs is sometimes the pictured process in the directions is of his personal/prototype as he's working on manufacturing it.The two Cooper kits I have - have the same kind of nuances, which I kind of find fun, helps the brain work. Good looking kit this, will or have you got the K-Spinner to complement it?
Firstly, as for a mis-match in color temperature-- between the strip light and a singleton LED-- no one says you can't de-solder one of those strip LEDs and use them singly. Of course, remember to use a resistor to match the voltage of your choice. And I admit, it may not throw light the way you want-- inside that crowded voume-- but, if need be, it's an option. This spinner is a Great White Whale. I know it's in good hands and I watch with bated breath (I prefer nightcrawlers as bate). Some fine day... perhaps... I shall get one. Big enough to do all the lighting.
Really great subject to focus on; one of my favorite vehicles from one of my favorite movies. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Congrats on getting Rosie published in Fine Scale Modeler. One question though: what's the deal with the opaque windshield? Will you need to provide your own clear piece?
Lou, which Time Machine do you keep referring to? Randy's version? Ot the Masterpiece Models, 50's film version? I have been scouting for one of Randy's for YEARS! And cannot locate one.....even from him. If you ever hear of one, please let me know. Cheers
@@aztekdummy will you be using the electrical support kit? That is the way to go. The only problem is if you activate the lever and the disc starts spinning....you may not ever see it again! 😨
Hey Lou just saw your page and looks great the work you have done on your kid here is great . I have a youtube channel " Mac's Model Corner " . I like you like a challenge and I have used led on my kits , I stared using 22ga mag wire and also like you add lot leds as you can see on my last bulid " 1/55 Moon Bus " . I also had a to add 3ea strip of leds and I ran a loop . Lou my point is I like to send ya an invite to my page if your interest maybe few my tips may help . Are you running all light with one voltage? Again great progress on your kit .
This build has awesome written all over it.
Excellent choice, it’s a great kit! I will be watching with great enthusiasm!

What a great kit, this one really needs planning before starting the build! Love the flying car from Bladerunner!

I am curious on how you are going to do the windshield.
I want a copy of that tee shirt..... off to searching I go!
Looking forward to this build
Love how you explain your thought process on how to proceed. Really helps to follow this kind of thinking on all kits.

i downloaded the marvin. it looks unnecessarily complicated. I wish there was a resin version. 4 parts for the shoes? how about 1 part and some paint?

@@esuorc2 I did something like that on Rosie's body. it just overlapped them on the build plate
Yes! A kit from my favorite movie of all time!
Suggestion: Gaff’s Origami Unicorn on the dash maybe?
Looking forward to this series Lou!

It would be mega cool if you included the "PURGE" screen in the cockpit!
I love the fact that 3D printing has opened up model making for a lot more people. More choice as well. I’d love to see that base lit up as well.

Randy Cooper is also doing casts/moulds for another Blade Runner resin kit it,s Deckards Red car in 1:5scale and it looks incredible
guess who has one of the first ones on order?

that is flash on the frame piece that you have to remove. it's there to keep the frame in the correct shape. there is a clear vacu-formed windshield
