Hi Grant! THank you for an amazing teaching yet again. The wife and I use your teaching for our devotional time and it has been so uplifting. Is the spelling of Korach קֹרַח or קורח ? Why are there sometimes different spellings for names?
@@grantluton I was googling resources for the portion and both spellings have resources on Korach. For example, found this wiki page: he.wikipedia.org/wiki/קורח
@@inourfreetime4479 I did a little more research, and I think I found the answer. The only way Korach's name is spelled in the Bible (Tanakh) is קרה. There is not a single instance when it is spelled with a vav (קורח). But the Wikipedia article lists Korah's name WITH the vav because (I think) that is how it would be spelled in modern Hebrew. Otherwise, the word קרח would mean "hair removal" (or even "ice"). Modern Hebrew must include the vav to distinguish "Korah" as a proper noun. Hope this helps!

@@grantluton Isn't the term "Jews" derived from the name Judah from Tribe of Judah, therefore it's correct that Korah is NOT a "Jew" but a "Levite" being from the Tribe of Levi. A very common mistake.
