This is my explanation of What is Smart TV on the Samsung 2012 TV Lineup. The 2013 Samsung Smart TV user interface has been slightly revamped with a cleaner look however the functionality is still very similar.

Just got one. These are sick! My favorite TV ever. I'm protecting this TV like it's my child.
Mine came with motion detector/camera thing which made web browsing easier and being able to watch RUclips,Crunchyroll and web browsing were amazing experience. But price was ridiculous compared to normal HD TV with only few additions. There were couple or more USB slots for external storage viewing such as pictures,music and videos and some HDMI slots too so you can use your favorite gaming console or whatever you do with HDMI. It wasn't so bad and as long as you got strong internet connection, which makes it ultimate couch potato heaven.
This video didn't show anything, I was looking for. Does it have screen slip does can the TV go online one screen show regular Ty on he other screen. How to update the TV, how to clean it. Recommended mounts. The sleep button. I wanted to see function not some shitty apps.

I bought a samsung 48 inch 1080p smart tv for $280 plus tax. My question is can i use netflix, hulu, hbo, Crunchyroll and youtube?
yes smart tv is just that ,don't let people scare away its just a bit to learn.
Future of Television.
Bought this at Christmas time which replaced my Sony LCD 60hz, sold the Sony to a friend after 4 years of using it as our family television. The Samsung stopped working in June, just less than 7 months later, of course I didn't buy the extended warranty because it was a brand new TV and a Samsung so it had to last.
It was on 5-6 hours a day actually a little less than my other TV, the picture was stellar, the sound left me wanting, although I'm an old veteran so I might just be deafening, so we bought a surround to go with. The remote control was a tad wonky and clumsy, it wasn't very convenient and the smart features were just OK, but after using GoogleTv by Logitech with my Sony it left me feeling like I was missing something. I used Chromecast on top of the smart features as this seemed to gel with my Android household more thoroughly.
I would suggest that you not buy this TV, not just because the Smart TV wasn't all that stunningly smart, or the features weren't overwhelmingly impressive. Not because of the sound, the remote or the lack of its ability to utilize any of Samsungs own periferals (ie keyboard, smart remote, camera, etc) and really not because it broke within 7 months (although that should be a standout problem in your mind).
I would suggest you not buy it because in every sense of the word it was rather disappointing, Samsung doesn't want it to work with the Google play store, but makes its Samsung store pathetically impractical, the memory allotted for the unit was meager and Ram was elementary, everything it did, it did slow, and couldn't even conform to the Samsung ecoSystem. What is the point of limiting options to only Samsung products if you don't allow it to work with any of them anyway? This TV is an all out waste of money, and for that matter, watch out for all the Samsung SmartTv's in this family as they are popping up with the same issue all throughout the internet, Power supply and the main computer... oh and by the way, even though the TV is under Warranty, they goofed up my service call so instead of getting it fixed in 4 days it's going to be almost 2 weeks. Thanks Samsung, but no thanks, I'll go back to my Sony products next time around.
I bought a 32inch Samsung smart tv in May 2015. I started receiving messages six months ago, on-screen, urging me to pay for the the protection service. Last week, the HD(high definition) feature stopped working. Samsung support was no help except to advise me to ship the tv back to them. I refused to pay for service. These tv's are obviously programmed to stop working properly after the warranty runs out. Be warned.

I got one yesterday for my 18th birthday. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Make a note of the day you bought it. If it stops working shortly after the warranty expires, advise others not to waste their money.

Thanks Dan I sussed it press the source button on TV select screen mirroring on TV then select screen mirroring on phone making sure all share cast is switched on phone .
how can you type on youtube or on the web browser for example? does the remote have a keyboard? why haven't you shown the remote!?

You should show the remote control and how it looks like and how to use it to browse on your smart tv.
If only smart tv has bluetooth, you can connect a bluetooth keyboard and this becomes a computer :)

Thanks for the intro. How can I start my not-so-smart TV (Sansung 50" Flat Panel) to start up in fullscreen cable TV? Right now it starts up with the TV in preview mode, just as if I have pressed the SmartHub button on the remote.

How do you write on the smart tv using a keyboard or the remote?
ProKiller3131 the remote has its own keys for directions to click on.. keyboard will be appear on the screen not on the remote control.
How do you find television channel apps that allow you to stream shows for free? Like the ABC app you demonstrated.

I don`t know if smart Tv existed then.
It was me, being bored to stay on my chair and this is the thing I imagined :
A screen like a plasma tv with all features of a pc,with the remote being used as both a tv remote and something simillar to a mouse :-)....With both attributes of tv and pc with internet and all :-)....I wonder why it apperead so late :-)...You could just stay on the bed and use it,no more back pain no more inconvenience,all in one :-)

Hi mate, not a bad tutorial I know it's old but anyway. can you tell me how/if it's possible to check the used storage space of a portable hard drive connected to a samsung smart tv ? I didnt really want to have to plug it in to my laptop to do this.
I've got a Samsung TV and the smart function is crap. I can connect to the Internet but it's pretty pathetic and there's very little content. I'm watching this video using an iPad and Apple TV connected to my Samsung TV because the Samsung can't do it.

I just set up to use Crackle but the sound goes through the tv speakers. When I listen to my dish network stations I have it set up to go through my reciever speakers. How do I set it to play through them and not my tv?

how long should samsung Tvs last . mine is 2011 im worried i need to upgrade . it is a led. but the a but it messes up where it has trouble loading apps and they say its Samsungs Fault not Spectrum.

I used to have an app to play my CDs called AV. I also have an extended
hard drive attached and if I wanted that I had one called USB. I was watching that just now but clicked the wrong button. Now the list of my recently used items has disappeared. How do I get them back?
I saw a mic on the You Tube on the Samsung tv but I push on it but where is the mic located on the TV. I would Have thought it would be on the remote control but there's nothing there?
I don't know if I should get a laptop or a smart tv... Which one would you recommend??? Just something for my bedroom entertainment.
If it's something for entertainment purposes I suggest an Xbox one or PS4. Both cheaper than a smart tv and laptop.

If you got Xbox One or PS4 you can download most of these apps, so save your money unless you don't have neither.

Samsung smart tv with Hd comcast cable and headphones. When I watch netflix sound from netflix doesn't go to headphone. Sound is from the last cable channel I was watching before switching to netflix. Other internet shows work fine (utube). Any solution?

Im using the 2012 model my smarthub layout is the same as the 2012 on this video. I have a question, how can I customize the apps displayed in the top line (where FOXTE, BigPon, PLUS7 etc are situated).... I want to put BBCiplayer in this line of apps but there is no way of adding it and therefore I cannot access it even though I have installed it! Its so frustrating to use I thought better of Samsung

Go toMenu..ten scroll to smart hub..then "On TV settings"..press enter..scroll to block adult content..You can also block content according to the VOD ratings which is 2 spots below "On TV settings"
Recently bought Samsung Smart TV. Its my first Smart TV. The Source button doesn't work. I've had 2 remotes from Samsung & the Source button hasn't worked on either remote. I am trying to figure how to watch my DVD player. The only way so far is these are the steps I have figured is: 1. Go to Setting, 2. Go To General, 3. Go To Smart Setup, 4. Scroll Through Screens till I get to (Setup up a cable or satellite Box) 5. Go To AV. Surely there is any easier way to get to AV option. Please help me.

now i can connect my smart tv to internet and start watching ads ads and more ads. honestly, ads dimishes our desire to buy smart tv next time because of ads. we bought samsung 40inch samsung mu6100 model and you can't watch any youtube videos without getting a glimpse of ever annoying ads. we have to connect our pc which have options to disable ads effectively in order to watch youtube withoud the ads.
