      Thank you Sarah, so glad you enjoyed it. I've been meaning to do it for years so I'm glad I found a way to break it up into sections so that it can be done with buses. Thanks for watching and your support.

    Hi. Excellent video. I did the same walk last week. I'm a birdwatcher, so was particularly interested in the Dartford Warblers, which the Pebblehead Heaths are well known for. I totally agree with your comments on the awkward road sections. The East Devon Way website actually details an alternative route which leaves the path at Woodbury Castle and takes you via Woodbury to join the Exe Estuary trail at Exton. Unfortunately this then misses out Blackhill Quarry and Lympstone Common but gives a longer stretch on the Exe trail.

      Hi Richard, thank you and thanks for watching. I didn't know about the alternative route on the East Devon way website thanks for letting me know. I know that route as I've done it before for fun but I agree it misses out on the quarry and common.
      The route I think is better is after the common where I said remember this point, is to turn left and head over East Budleigh common and past Squabmoor reservoir then join the cycle trail near Knowle. Although this avoids the Exe entirely it's a lovely walk and much safer route. I recently did the Topsham to Exmouth route and I think if you want to do the Exe estuary that should be the route you take, my personal opinion though of course.

      It was a pleasure meeting you Terry, I'm always caught a little off-guard when somebody recognises me as I don't really expect it even though I was actually making a video at the time, funny lol. I noticed your camera gear, did you get any good shots that day, the clouds were great!

      Were you alright after getting bitten? I know children can be affected quite badly by an adder bite. In all my walks I have yet to encounter an adder but they are quite well camouflaged.

    Another great video and a long trip. How many miles is it in total? Great idea about using the cycle path, I wonder how easy it would be to get the East Devon Way route changed?

    • @WalkingDevon
      @WalkingDevon  Год назад

      Thank you Andy, it's 39.1 miles in total according to the route I plotted with OS Maps but I don't know it that accounts for the rise and fall of the terrain as that could make it longer. Generally it's said to be 40 miles. Devon County Council maintain all the footpaths here in Devon so they would need to be approached but I think it would be quite a task to not only update all the signposts etc but all the maps as well as online resources. If I make a video detailing the alternative route, basically when I said in the video remember here, you turn left instead of right and plot it with OS maps, I could then approach DCC. However with budget cuts to the Council it may be deemed an unnecessary expense but possibly better in the long run for safety. We shall have to see. Thanks for watching!

    I went to walk here. They were burning off gorse so it was very smokey. I had to leave. Also lots of dog walkers not picking up after their dogs. I had my dog with me by the way. One women was picking up after her 3 dogs only to throw it into the bushes!!! Lots of people do not respect the country side.

      It's such a shame that the ignorant people spoil it for the rest of us, I wonder if they treat there own garden the same. You never see public information films any more, do you remember the "Don't be a litter lout" one?
