People who say that "SeaWorld would NEVER do that!" are ignoring the truth.
SeaWorld says they would never separate mother and calf orcas, and yet no fewer than nineteen (not counting wild-caught) calves have been stolen from their mums, and only one has ever returned.
Multiple SeaWorld trainers say that the orcas "have to comply with out program" to get fed. It's real; or did you think these magnificent creatures do backflips and "kiss" each other just because they really want to?
SeaWorld is a terrible place, bad for both people and animals.

It's no different than your dog. Your dog gets plenty of food and gets dog treats when it does a behavior correctly. So yes the whales get all the food they need to. 😂 Plus it's not possible to force an apex predator to do anything. The trainers miraculously influenced the whales to WANT to do those tricks for them. Those positive reinforcement training techniques truly are magical.
Although it doesn't work on horses. I've tried 😅 I think this incredible type of training that I've learned from SeaWorld really only works on the most powerful and intelligent life forms of our planet: killer whales, elephants, and I would say even people!

animals in captivity is not right unless they can not be integrated back into the wild for fear of starving or being eaten by truly wild animals.

This shit is seriously fucked up, should be boycotts on Sea World, how about if people thought that their behavior was problematic and had only fed the CEO's and managers from 2200 calories to 200 calories

John Greegree funny you say that.. because israel already limits the calories they give to palestinians via their occupying blockade

This is insanely disgusting, and makes me SO angry. Kudos to this book. I like truth, so I can steer all my friends away from this situation. It is UNACCEPTABLE! Don't go to see these shows. In humans, I know when we don't eat for a long period of time, we get grumpy, so why might that not make a whale act unusual or more aggressive. Abuse should never be accepted in the treatment of any species in captivity, and this is abuse, plain and simple. Those poor creatures should be set free! My sincere good wishes to this man for caring.

I use this method to train my parrot. I won't give him his breakfast, by midday, he's hungry and I use that time to teach him tricks. He will do them to get treats. He's not starving, just hungry.

How would you like to be treated the same way. Would you like to be forced to be hungry “not starving” and have to learn tricks to eat? I don’t think that is right on any level for any living creature. Treats for training are one thing, withholding food that is on a whole different level in my book.

Yet he's that same guy who said that any trainer who used food deprivation was a poor trainer. Here was his tweet.
"Any trainer that withheld food from an animal was a poor trainer, and using techniques not taught to us in the SeaWorld system."
    -John Hargrove
