I think Sivakov was smart to pull Tadej. He is covering his trade team boss, and building his career. Agree not good for France, but he is watching the money.
What Sivakov and team France could've done anyways? If Sivakov just glued himself to Tade's wheel and not helping at best he would've facilitated Remco or MvDP to get the jersey.
With no team Radios, the lack of tactical intelligence drops. Riders are so used to getting instructions from an earpiece that they have limited tactical savvy. The Olympics are another example of no race radios What amazed me was Tratnik dropping out of the breakaway once he heard from a motor bike or possibly the fans on the side of the road that Pog was trying to bridge even with 100 ish km's to go. That's intelligence and a real team mate.
Well, first this was not his first rodeo, second the motorcycle guys told him Pog was behind and was attacking, so it doesn't take an Einstein to realize what should be done. Jan Tratnik is not a constant team member of Visma for the Tour for nothing you know.
Slovenian coach Uros Murn in interview said T saw a rapid decrease in lead on motorcycle board and asked one of the race motorcycles what was happening. Told P was coming alone, T immediately dropped back. M praised T's race intelligence.
I think your comment shows that this is nothing to do with the lack of team radios but either disfunctional teams or team members not following team orders. I think in the women's peleton it is much more individualistic and team leaders aren't seen by the rest of the riders on the team as the be all and end all of the race, their own results are, as shown with La Tour Femme this year. As for the men's race the lack of effective tactics against the likes of Pog just confuses me, it's as though the rest of the pro cyclists don't realise that if they don't quickly work together and bring back Pog he's going to win every time, he's that good. They seem happy to let him go and just race for the rest of the podium positions, which to me is really sad.
Shout out to Chloe D. She was dangling off the back of the lead group at 1500m to go and ended up with silver through sheer grit. She's riding with a lot of pain in her leg. Tough as nails.
If Belgium ride tempo and save those few domestiques (De Plus, Wellens, Benoot, Van Gils) for one more lap, Pogi then has a 2-3 minute lead. Remember, they burned all their guys to maintain a 50s gap on the climb. With their slower tempo, Pogi gains at least 1 minute there on the climb. With 2 laps to go (50km) now Remco is without domestiques, has to bring back a 2+ minute gap to Pogi, and MVDP is sitting behind him waiting to attack. Not a chance that tactic works for Remco...The original mistake was made when Remco and MVDP didn't follow Pogi immediately. That was game over right there and then.
Not exactly. We all know that the pace is slower if the group keeps attacking each other but never getting away and working smoothly together. Pogi actually only gained time during his first acceleration after Jan Tratnik finished pulling and only then. We saw clearly that just Ben Healy and Toms Skjuins with help from Oscar Onley some keep Pogi very close. So we know Max, Sam, Benoot, Mollema, Wellens, and DePlus could have done the same for one more lap at least. 🤔🦋👍
@@ChrisHornerCycling But they're also significantly slower compared to Pogi if you want to keep your domestiques for another lap or maybe 2 laps, which was the whole premise of your proposed tactic. When Tratnik finished pulling 3 laps to go (75km) Remco was left with De Plus (for 300m), Benoot, Wellens and Van Gils on the climb. De Plus, Benoot and Wellens dropped in the 1/3 of the climb and Van Gils finished at 2/3 of the climb, trying to maintain a 50s gap. That means the Belgians overextended themselves even the lap before, but certainly on the climb 3 laps to go. They simply weren't strong enough. Pogi would gain at least 1 minute there if De Plus, Wellens, Benoot and Van Gils rode their own tempo on the climb. I went and checked again, on the climb with 3 laps to go, Pogi gained 20s on the peloton which was chasing all out. On the climb 2 laps to go, he gained 15s on Healy and Skujins who were chasing hard and actually working together, and 30s on MVDP and Remco group. On the climb in the last lap he lost 20s to Healy and Skujins and 30s to MVDP, Remco group. So you're wrong, Pogi actually gained time on the climb every time except the last lap. With that in mind, he also said after the race that he didn't even go 100% on the climbs, because he was saving it for the straights. So again, if Remco saves teammates for another lap, the gap baloons to 2+ minutes, and then he's isolated with 50km to go. Mollema and MVDP certainly won't help him in that situation, but rather tire him out.
@@ChrisHornerCyclingbut Ben Healy and Tom Skujins were at a leader level (they finished in the group behind Pogacar). That was not the case of Belgium domestics. Even Van Gils was not that strong. And I don't think that Van Der Poel would have brought Mollema to ride in the front. So I think also that the gap would have been 2 minutes at 50 km in this case.
@@ogradar85 better you're isolated closer to the finish then 75km+. Remco panicked however you want to look at it, and ended up in the situation he was, which was much worse than having his and MVDP's team chasing
In a nutshell, Belgium suffered the most from missing WVA. It was because of Wout marking MVDP that Remco was able to win gold in Paris, and I gotta believe that if Wout had been there things would've played out differently in Zurich too! Remco still doesn't have the tactical nous (or the patience!) to match his legs and will to win. Honestly, I'd also question whether the team were 100% behind Remco~coz they did seem to cave in pretty quickly (as Remco himself noted with surprise in his post race interview) As for the Dutch, one word says it all: 'knuckleheads!'😂👊🦋
Tadej Pogačar made that crazy move when everyone was watching what Primož Roglič will do. Jan Tratnik did his job just perfectly. Also Domen Novak, team just worked perfectly. Matej Mohorič was missing, but with him, slovenia could take podium…
The Rainbow jersey, while being a matter of pride for the country, is worn at all trade team races like Giro, Tour etc. It’s as much a matter of pride for the trade team to have a rider sporting the rainbow jersey! It’s not easy to suddenly forge team chemistry between countrymen coz they don’t ride often together, but within trade teams it already exists is a very strong way! So why won’t a trade team domestique pull his leader? It goes both ways. Tadej was actually waiting for Sivakov coz he also probably wanted him to get podium finish. Sivakov just didn’t have the legs.
Spot on Chris..👍 It's always interesting to see how leaders panic at the worlds. It happens more often than not. Belguim was in the ideal position to burn Pog slowly and use the whole team to maximise the fatique of the front group. This points to inexperience on Remco's behalf, nothing more.. He should have calmed down himself and his team first, get Victor to set the tempo to time trial mode which Victor can do the entire day long and wait for the right moment, set the tempo just high enough that no one would even think of attacking and real the fish in slowly. You know yourself that once a team settles into time trial mode they can go much further and then there is that moment when you find your rhythm in a TT that you are going faster going the same intensity as the engine opens up.. The other teams would eventually have helped as well as soon as they saw that things was stabilising and the control was good, but panic is never good and takes the heart rate thru the roof.. He could also ask MVP to also put some of their guys on the front as well and just keep it in TT mode and a steady 85% -90%, they would have caught everyone in 2 - 3 laps and let Pog burn himself on the front. Ideal situation against an insanely strong Pogi and actually the best situation they could have hoped for, but instead he panicked and blew up the whole team going flat out and redlining everyone.. He had the perfect setup, but instead forgot to be tactically smart. I don't believe for a second he wasn't strong enough to use the situation to his advantage, but panic and erratic racing is never good. It caused the whole bunch to blow up and he found himself in no man's land with no one wanting to work with him. Whe all know a stop go stop go tempo never brought any breakaway back, even with not so strong riders on the front.. I hope he learns from this mistake, I beleive he was strong enough to win World's If he had played it smart..
Thank you Chris for the tactics Tuesday on a Wednesday. I think that Pogi going on the attack from 100 km really messed with Evenepoel's and Van Der Poel's heads. They didn't expect a move like that and couldn't believe it when it happened. Jan Traknic was the hero of the day (other than Pog). He pulled Pogi through the break and set and set him up to do one the greatest solo wins of all time. Sivakov did well to ride for his team leader. If he hadn't, he might find himself on a small french division 2 team next year.
I think the route this year suits Pogi so well. Two climb with steep sections that he can consume explosive rider such as Mads and Mvdp and drop all the climers. Also the technical parts of descent and cornering help him to stay away the peleton when solo riding. Only about 6km of the laps is in favor of the peleton once pogi is solo, the team advantage of Belgium is minimized therefore.
A masterpiece scheeme from Pogi. He sent Tratnik and Sivakov for the breakaway, ( OK Sivakov was probably paid ) , and when he started his own attack 100km from the finish line He knew He has got two allies in a breakaway group ahead who will pull him for a certain distance. Tadej is not a stupid boy. Had it not been for Sivakov and Tratnik ahead, He would have never attacked from such a ridiculous distance. He knew Roglic would not help him as there is some grudge between the guys. And the plan worked just fine. Stay healthy Chris. You are a fantastic comentator. :)
Great analysis. I think the Women’s breakaway could have stayed away if Demi Vollering wasn’t so intent on winning for herself. With two strong Dutch riders in the break there was an excellent chance one of them would get the victory for the Netherlands. If the whole Dutch team is riding for Vollering then the Dutch women in the break should not be pulling but taking it easy so they can help pull Vollering if she can bridge up to the front.
Mathieu van der Poel was thé One guy who described accurately the men's race winner... Panic attack that fortunately worked... Pogi wanted that jersey and panicked himself to get it.... Great show... Big Ben and little Ben brought out the fighting Irish genes....
When I watched again the replay of Tadej Pogačar’s astonishing attack and his look of surprise when he looked round to see who was with him, it occurred to me that maybe he fully expected Roglič to be there. Maybe when Pogacar suddenly decided to attack before Roglič wasted any effort chasing with everyone glued to his wheel, he intended it as a clear invitation to Roglič that now was the time to go. He must have known that Van der Poel and Remco were caught up behind, and out of position and very few 'Klingons' would be able to hold the two winners of TdF and Giro going full gas on a hard climb. I believe he imagined that Roglič would realise that if they both ripped up the climb together they could get clean across to the group ahead where they had a Slovenian team mate asset Jan Tratnik in waiting. Pogačar certainly looked surprised when he looked around to see who was with him. Maybe he was astonished/dismayed that Roglič was nowhere to be seen. That meant either he didn't have the legs, or it was treachery and he was allowing Tadej to blow himself out. As Horner said - it was a gift for Roglič, he was off the hook, he could sit on the Belgians and Dutch and scoop the finish - if he had the legs. After it became clear that Primoz didn't have the legs and Pogačar won anyway, maybe Tadej was obliged to slot that explanation into the memory hole. We may have to wait a few years for the memoires to spill the beans.....
The Dutch women's team had the worst tactics I've ever seen. They worked against each other more than with each other. They chased each other down, tried to drop each other, and attacked senselessly. A team of Solerisms that makes Movistar tactics look genius. With their roster, they should medal every championship. This was a bigger failure than not knowing about the breakaway in the 2021 Olympics.
According to their interviews, they had planned it out exactly as they did from the very beginning. Even Vos and Marcus getting dropped by Vollering at that small climb was in the plan. Unfortunately for them, they lost more time to the front group than planned and, thus, couldn't catch back on. They simply were to exhausted. This didn't surprise anyone else, which probably surprised them. 😅
@@friedemannkemm63But such a plan does not make sense to me. Vos and Markus had to work hard in the first group. Other dutch riders, including Vollering were working hard in the group behind. Then Vollering reached the first group and dropped her teammates while she had Borghini on her wheel. Why didn't she let the others burn their last matches? A couple of km later, they all looked at each other, nobody wanted to take the lead, and e.g. kopecky came all the way from behind. Vollering's investment disappeared in 2 minutes.
@@ChrisHornerCycling Maybe Demi has made herself unpopular within the Dutch ranks and Sdworks somehow which would go some way to explaining how she seems to be stabbed in the back on so many occasions. She looks like a nice person, but you never know what happens behind the scenes.
I couldn't believe it when Vollering was driving it at the front with Kopecky in that group, putting Vos out the back, the only Dutch rider left who could've beating Kopecky in a sprint. Not a team player.
Can't say I've watched them, but Marianne Vos has won 3 world road titles. Did she win out of sheer dominance or did the Netherlands ride as a team, at least a little?
@@plefevre The Netherlands did often ride like a team, which resulted in a lot of titles. Ofc Vos was dominant when she won her 3 titles, but the whole team was working for her too in these occasions. And in 2022 Van Vleuten was doing all the dirty work for Vos. Only Vos wasn't strong enough, so in the last few km's they changed plans, Van Vleuten got in the front group in the last km, launched a surprise attack, and won the title while having a broken elbow
@@plefevre well the last one she won was in 2013, so I don't recall it exactly either. Probably on pure class, and likely also better team dynamics & tactics. Definately before Loes Gunnewijn took over as coach (to put it mildly I'm not impressed by her coaching).
Chris, no other team would work for Belgium, fearing they are going to be called knuckleheads. they all watch your channel and they know not to break the #1 rule.
0:46 who do you think would win a race with all NFL riders? I'm betting on Tyreek Hill if it comes down to the sprint but watch out for Jameson Williams if he attacks.
Yes, I love tactition Tuesday! Anytime actually... Is that extensive amount of communication possible without radios? If you are in the front part of the peloton, how do you get word back to someone in the third group? Remco doesn't seem to have any problem yelling at people on other teams. 😂 (My nickname for him is fits.) Seems like Roglic just came out to take part. Was he of any significance in the race for Tade? Thanks so much Chris!
Roglic played no major part in the win of Pogi that we saw (maybe he did somewhere earlier off camera). He pulled a few hundred meters but later we heard from Pogi that Remco was attacking and not pulling. 😬🤔🦋
There was not much Remco and Mathieu could do, but be near Pogi when he attacked and try to hold the wheel. It remains to be seen if Remco and Mathieu could have kept Pogi's wheel. The reason why Pogi went so early, was because Remco and Mathieu were not near. And because Pogi had Tratnik in the front group. Once Pogi was gone the favorites and outsiders should have relayed to bring Pogi back. But the outsiders would have let Mathieu and Remco do all the work. Mathieu would never do that out of principle and Remco attacked but did not get separation Counting on domestiques like Benoot and Oomen is nonsense, Pogi would be 3 minutes in advance, if they stayed near these guys. These domestiques already emptied themselves.
Last year in the Tour was her own fault of course.... Taking a nature break, at the most stupid moment of that stage, while not informing her own teammates.... Everybody knew that the stage would open up at that moment, and she decides to take a "nature break" ?!? Sorry but that's just stupid..... It would be the same as Mathieu van der Pole taking a "nature break" in Paris-Roubaix when they arrive at Carefour de l'Arbre...
@@swissbiggyI think this comment is a knucklehead one, sorry but it has to be said. Any rider on any team has the ability to look around and ask where is our team leader. Sure a rider can not help the situation but especially on teams where there are team radios they should be told to wait, and the fact they didn't in Vollerings' case on multiple occasions I think is a team issue more than anything else. I also think in women's cycling that it is much more individualistic with less emphasis on the team and more on each rider for themselves, probably because except for the superstar riders is a lot more precarious keeping your position in the top teams so getting good results is more important to riders (it shouldn't be this way, but that's how it looks to me). In the men's races I think it's slightly different, and generally I just think that no one thinks they can beat Pog so what's the point expending energy to try and put yourself into the red too being him back. What I did find disheartening was that when Ben Healy and I forget the other rider were catching Pog as he tried towards the end the moment the other chase group caught up to them it fell apart again and Pog extended his lead again. There's so much bad tactics going on in racing going on right now and I just don't get it. With such big stars as Pog, Remco, and MVdP on the scene to best these guys you have to be tactically on your A game otherwise you'll just get the slim pickings that are the leftovers thrown out after the big prizes have been taken, and it didn't always have to be this way. You won't beat these guys going toe to toe with them but if you race smart you at least give yourself a chance. At the moment they're not even giving themselves that kind of a chance.
It seems to me that some riders do not understand the difference between 'burning matches' at the front, with riders dropping out one by one like became the usual tactic in the big tours, or doing the proper rotation keeping the 4, 5 or 6 riders you have upfront as a machine to eat away at Pogacar's lead, in a much more successful chase. That's where in my opinion Evenepoel failed, the Netherlands also.
Jan Tratnik didn't guess anything my dear friend... The motorrider that rode together with the breakaway group showed them the time difference... Tratnik than asked what was happening behind them, and the motorrider responded him that Pogacar was coming on his own... And that was the sign for Jan Tratnik to wait.... Still great work from Jan Tratnik of course, who is Primoz Roglic best buddy, but it was no guessing. 😉✌ P.S Tratnik signed with Red Bull Bora already, because he wants to ride with his best buddy Roglic.
I don’t think it was that dumb for sivakov to work with pogi. His only shot at a medal was prob being able to stick with pogi long enough to not get caught by the others. Working with him should theoretically work increase the gap allowing for him to stay away from the main group for longer, and no way he beats any of the other heavy hitters in a sprint
I think UEA are in Disneylandis at the moment. Brandon McNulty held off and punctured and still won today at the Cro Race. Pipo Ganna doing lots of turns but no one can catch UAE when they are doing this crazy stuff. It's like they are just peeing all over the other Teams, almost Jumbo 2023 style. I do scratch my head at UAE and how they can do these tricks.
That's all easy to say after the race, in front of your monitor, but during the race, without earpiece, it's not as if you know where all of your team-mates and all groups are exactly. How was Evenepoel supposed to know, say, that Benoot was in the 3rd peloton and could possibly have come back to help? Benoot was toast anyway.
Besides Belgium and the the Dutches during a race it's hard to predict, commentators try and many times mispredict, riders don't know what's going to happen with so many variables involved especially in big races. Tactics cannot follow the changing dynamics of a race.
I feel like some of these women's teams could benefit by hiring some of these veterans who are retiring to guide their tactics. Robert Gesink for example. Also, it doesn't seem like the top women's riders have strong dedicated domestiques (not talking about the world championships but normal races).
What ever Remco does, he should stay away from Vegas. With that attack of Remco leading to a split in the peloton 40 to 1 in the group and one Pogi up the road getting more help from Siv than Remco was getting behind in that 40 rider group, it was clear Remco’s chances of winning the worlds was dropping quickly right after Max Van Gills was finished pulling and Remco would not stop attacking. But sometimes you got to learn the hard way.
They don’t have to bring Pogi back. That was never said in any of my videos ever. You just have to keep pogi close and in the wind while Remco and MVDP are not. Then it’s up to Remco and MVDP to close the gap. If Remco and MVDP riding together can not close the gap after two laps of sitting on their teammates wheel. Well, we know Pogi is not just a little better then them. 🤪🤔🦋💪
Tuesday ... Wednesday ... we don't care. Just give the people what they want 🦋 Do you think Demi is the main problem? ... or maybe her teammates are just jealous and petty?
It's complex and I can't say. The same problems seemed to arise with the SD Worx "superteam", but that might have been due to a Vollering-Kopecky conflict. One can only speculate. The Wiebes-Vollering dynamics in the TDFF Femmes stage in which Vollering crashed were most unseemly.
Demi is the problem and who ever is running the tactic in the team whether before the race or during it. But, If you watch her interview afterwards she clearly doesn’t understand what she and her team did wrong. She said, the race wasn’t hard enough and that she should have made the race harder and attacked earlier. But nothing about changing a 1k lead out for Lotte. 😱😬🦋🤔👍
After you kuncklehead😁(I'm sorry, but I cannot resist to write that, cause in general you're doing a very good job👍 ) published 2 videos saying Roglič may race against Pogačar, why you don't make a video with some nice words about the USA team and their brilliant tactics? 😁😁
What about the fact that the chasing group spent all the energy attacking each other instead of chasing Pogačar? If they cooperated, they would catch him, they had almost 2 hours for that. What is the mindset there? Why was this so hard to organize? Why did they decide to give the win to Pogi and race for the 2nd and 3rd? Also Sivakov was not really pulling Pogačar. He got in front maybe twice, but only for a few seconds.
I would hope it’s the latter because that means Siv got paid at least, and then knows how to race. But it’s probably the first because the French did work with Remco when he won his Worlds road race a couple years back now. 🤔😱😬🦋🤷🏼♂️
Tiesj simply did not have the legs, he told during the interview. What I'm wondering about, Matteo during the Olympics was trying to get things done ... with his team mate from France, Christophe Laporte. But now he did get Remco back ... instead of riding together to get Pogi back. Remco already knew that Pogi was going to win, but - honestly - stay in the wheel of one of the best ITT riders in the world and beat him in a sprint with a decent chance of winning a medal? More than one knucklehead TBH ... As a sidenote, the term "Knucklehead" does not cut it for me ... Bit too YT-jerking-likes ...
well Pogi does rely heavily on instincts and in that moment his instinct probably told him that he needs to create a little bit of chaos probably reduce other teams and attacked but expected others to follow that's why when he turned around and saw nobody was on his ass he was a bit shocked but then he already committed and had to follow through all the way which was even better outcome for him because Remco and van der Poel were so flabbergasted that they probably didn't even know which universe they are in and they got confused forgot everything they know and rode like amateurs
I think Tadej's tactics are "attack, let everyone look at each for the next 15 mins, then win. He's using their ego and old tactics against them. Of course, you have to have the engine as well.
UCI was fiending for a zurich2024 story that will shove the furrer tragedy to the sidelines. what better script then the superstar winning with a 100k attack. sivakov realised this and went for the pure career move as he contributed to pogis win. Lappartient will forever be thankful for his service
Tratnik did have the dumb luck that the motor that rode with the breakaway showed them the time difference... Tratnik noticed that the difference between the breakaway group and peloton dropped very quickly and he asked the guy on the motor what was happening behind them.... The motorrider/ardoisier told Tratnik that Pogacar was coming on his own, thus Jan decided to wait.... Simple as that, nothing more and nothing less..... But you are correct that it doesn't change sh*t about the utterly stupid moves from Vollering.
No matter how strong you are, when you ride 100k in front with a 30 to 60 sec. gap, a pro peloton with that quality should be able to control and close that.
Not only didn't the Netherlands use their team properly, they rode aggressively AGAINST each other ,as though they were from different countries! Kopecky must have been shaking her head in the sprint wondering why Vollering was leading her out. With all the history Vollering has of blowing races when she should easily be winning them, you have to wonder if she has difficulty thinking straight in pressure situations. The WC is different coz there's no race radios but in WT races, she has her DS in the car telling her what to do, so she's either ignoring it or the DS is a complete moron.
Lost a lot for Vollering. Much to Selfish. Hopeless 5, 8, 9 Netherland 🙄 Italian Coach Had to excuse for Team Only a 25 place whole Yeam did n't Bother. Skjeldmose has Anxiety problems, suddenly je yad back problems. If you cannot handle pressure psykisk, big problem in The future. Certainly not a WM Route for mads p 13 place best Dane.
Having a hard time understand you trying to school Demi on races where her team abandoned her. Her loss of rainbows after pulling Kopecky is justified but she was left to die in the TDF by SDWorx
Well maybe Vollering should not take a nature break at "the moment" of that stage.... The whole peloton knew that the race would break open at that particular moment, the press knew it, the fans knew it, and she decides to take a nature break at that particular moment without warning her own teammates... Sorry but that's quite stupid, and I do expres myself in a very nice and polite way when I say that it was stupid.
Without radio? Maybe with some supernatural mindhive connection? During these races, the main organiser is the designated lead or another rider as an appointed road captain.
World champion, Double World TT champion, double Olympics champion, TdF podium....are we talking about the same Remco or your friend Remco The Clueless with whom you go on Sunday sportives?
I get the suspicion nobody likes Vollering, especially her Dutch teammates. Marianne Vos will only work for herself if she has a chance to win. Wonder what is being said on the radio from Dutch team director? Remco's teammates actually listen to him but Remco doesn't know what to do even with an earpiece.
Even if you do not like Demi, it's still stupid to sacrifice the win for the team. Unless you think you can win yourself, you should still work for her wether you like her or not. You're a pro and paid to do so.
Tadej Pgacar clearly waited for Pavel Sivakov, who is a Russian that is only riding for France b/c Russia is not allowed to field a team in international competition due to sanctions. Sivakov is also paid very well to be Tadej’s UAE teammate/gregario the other 364 days of the year. But the Butterfly Effect thinks that he should tell Tadej Pogacar, the #1 rider in the world and Team UAE Golden Child, that he won’t give him a turn because he’s working for David Gaudu today? Really?! Ok, let’s say that Pavel refuses to take a pull and Tadej runs out of gas in the last kilometers, the group of 7 catches him and he loses his chance to win pro cycling’s Triple Crown to MVDP in the sprint at the line…that next Team UAE Tactician Tuesday meeting is going to be awfully awkward! 😂👊🦋
Pavel Sivakov was born in Italy, and moved to France shortly after that. He grew up in France, went to school there, started cycling there, I don’t think he ever lived in Russia. He could only get French citizenship in 2017, so it’s not that surprising that a few years after that he started representing France. I think he speaks French much better than Russian.
"next Team UAE Tactician Tuesday meeting is going to be awfully awkward! " I see no reason for this to be the case. The world is full of team sports - football, rugby, cricket to name but three - where it is not only normal, but expected, to put club loyalty aside when you play for your country. Indeed a footballer giving a club mate an easy ride would be looked upon in horror.
Tadej waited for Sivakov… if Sivakov had legs he would have a podium working with Tadej. His legs didn’t cooperate but I don’t see anything wrong with the tactic…
Sorry Chris, but there's nothing you can do against a rider who pushes 50 more watts than everyone else in his weight category. He's unbeatable. If he keeps this form, he'll never lose a race again in the next 10 years.

Pogi managed his effort over the last 100km remarkably well. He spread the field and had the other top riders looking at each other.
Honestly, I'd also question whether the team were 100% behind Remco~coz they did seem to cave in pretty quickly (as Remco himself noted with surprise in his post race interview)
As for the Dutch, one word says it all: 'knuckleheads!'😂👊🦋
Wout was missed. 🥲🦋👊
Je doesnt have the tactics not even the legs to match that lol
Definitely, MVDP and WVA are only two guys who can catch Pogi's wheel on an uphill attack.
I don't think Jan Tratnik was in the initial breakaway group by accident😅 🚴
They said Pog sent him there. He must have have been cooking something from the get go.😅🤣
Bingo, so was Sivacov….
Chris Horner, you and your channel keep getting better. Very relevant analysis!
Yep. Siv probably thought. I would like to get paid this month and next season. 😂👊🦋
Well, there is the sad story of Juan Ayuso this year, that shows pretty well what happens when you disobey your captain 🤣
All power to sivakov for thinking of his career, but if that's true they should never select him for the French national team again.
Regular tactics Tuesday? Yes please.
Oh Chris you know everything , your opinions are the best in the world.

Interesting thing was Kopecky predicting Dutch lack of team work being their vulnerability before the race.
👊🦋
Nice ring, congratulations 👍
Mathieu van der Poel was thé One guy who described accurately the men's race winner... Panic attack that fortunately worked... Pogi wanted that jersey and panicked himself to get it.... Great show... Big Ben and little Ben brought out the fighting Irish genes....
Very interesting.
When I watched again the replay of Tadej Pogačar’s astonishing attack and his look of surprise when he looked round to see who was with him, it occurred to me that maybe he fully expected Roglič to be there.
Maybe when Pogacar suddenly decided to attack before Roglič
wasted any effort chasing with everyone glued to his wheel, he intended it as a clear invitation to Roglič that now was the time to go.
Maybe he was astonished/dismayed that Roglič
was nowhere to be seen. That meant either he didn't have the legs, or it was treachery and he was allowing Tadej to blow himself out. As Horner said - it was a gift for Roglič, he was off the hook, he could sit on the Belgians and Dutch and scoop the finish - if he had the legs.
After it became clear that Primoz didn't have the legs and Pogačar
won anyway, maybe Tadej was obliged to slot that explanation into the memory hole. We may have to wait a few years for the memoires to spill the beans.....
Great show , THIS A TRAINING SERIES , thanks for showing us WHY .

It's thursday in Europe currently, so I guess it is Tactics Thursday 😁
Any day is a good day for Tactician Tuesday. 🛋️🦋
Hehehe. 😂🦋👊
Awesome coaching!
Women ☕️
Agreed. We officially have a Demiism and Netherlandsism added to the page of Solerism’s 🤪😂🦋👊🇳🇱📝
0:19 Those trails were probably grippy 😍
I couldn't believe it when Vollering was driving it at the front with Kopecky in that group, putting Vos out the back, the only Dutch rider left who could've beating Kopecky in a sprint. Not a team player.
I can't remember a time the Netherlands womens team employed actual team tactics. They just wear the same kit.
Can't say I've watched them, but Marianne Vos has won 3 world road titles. Did she win out of sheer dominance or did the Netherlands ride as a team, at least a little?
@@plefevre Sheer dominance.
@@FrankGroo 2022 the title was GIFTED to van Vleuten by all other riders in the final group!!!

Hey Chris its Thursday in Scotland 😂
(My nickname for him is fits.)
Seems like Roglic just came out to take part. Was he of any significance in the race for Tade?
Thanks so much Chris!
Primoz pulled once for Pogi to close a gap, and then Pogi took off. That's it.
Hey Chris, thanks for all you do! how do you recommend tire pressure on the road bike? its all over the place on the internet. please advice.
You already have your tactics wrong if you’re attacking on Wednesday and the race was Tuesday 😂
Hehehe. 😂🦋👊

Chris, last year Vuelta and this year tdf was not Demi mistake, it was SdWorx mistake! this year World, absolutely her and Dutch comedy show!
Maybe. But all we know for sure is that she’s the team leader and she stayed afterwards on the team. 🤔😱🦋
Ben O'Connor had a good day. He's not quite up there with the 5* page 1 favourites but he is definitely pressing to be one of the best 4* page 2 guys.
UAE should hire Jan. He saw the time gap dropped by 1 min suddenly and guessed correctly that Pogacar is coming even without the race radio saying so.
P.S Tratnik signed with Red Bull Bora already, because he wants to ride with his best buddy Roglic.

Pipo Ganna doing lots of turns but no one can catch UAE when they are doing this crazy stuff. It's like they are just peeing all over the other Teams, almost Jumbo 2023 style. Chris Horner Butterfly Effect. The only sport analysis show on RUclips that knows how to measure his estimations. An intellect’s youtube talent. 😊
Netherlands must have made an agreement that they would be everybody else's domestiques.
Who Dares Wins. 🏆
Besides Belgium and the the Dutches during a race it's hard to predict, commentators try and many times mispredict, riders don't know what's going to happen with so many variables involved especially in big races. Tactics cannot follow the changing dynamics of a race.
Demi is so strong… I wish she would strategize better!! I like her so much.

8:50 '[Kopecky] found her way back somehow' Demi brought her back herself, while dropping her own teammates.

Wacky Tactic Wednesday
I feel like some of these women's teams could benefit by hiring some of these veterans who are retiring to guide their tactics. Robert Gesink for example. Also, it doesn't seem like the top women's riders have strong dedicated domestiques (not talking about the world championships but normal races).
These Riders NEED to Start Studying STATISTICS
At least some... staTACTICS?
What ever Remco does, he should stay away from Vegas. With that attack of Remco leading to a split in the peloton 40 to 1 in the group and one Pogi up the road getting more help from Siv than Remco was getting behind in that 40 rider group, it was clear Remco’s chances of winning the worlds was dropping quickly right after Max Van Gills was finished pulling and Remco would not stop attacking. But sometimes you got to learn the hard way.

To be fair if Netherlands and sd worx apply perfect tactics every time vollering would just win everything like pogi
Team Belgium putting one guy on the front of the chase group to bring back Podgicar just aint gonna cut it.
Do you think Demi is the main problem? ... or maybe her teammates are just jealous and petty?

Who’s going to win Paris-Tours
Mads 🤔🦋🤞
Yes, but I think maybe Arnaud De Lie. But why not Riley Sheehan again? He’s a powerful guy.
Remco is just afraid to go all in when he attacks. When he goes he already starts looking who is coming.
Do you think Sivakov was trying to win or trying to help his UAE team leader? It has to be the latter right?
Sivakov was a knucklehead. But then, he wasn't a knucklehead a li'l bit, too. Ha!
Ohhhh SD Worx 😒
Exactly 😱😬🦋🤪👊
So Tratnik can drop back for Pogi even without a radio but SD works couldn't do the same for Demi. 😂
Women move different father.
👍🏻
No matter how strong you are, when you ride 100k in front with a 30 to 60 sec. gap, a pro peloton with that quality should be able to control and close that.
Pogi isolated himself. Belgium had a strong team. If Remco waited one more lap. Good to see Mollema still bringing it...
Chris, are we certain it is not toxic, as in relationships, rather than tactics? There's no love lost between these Dutch superstars after all.

Well maybe Vollering should not take a nature break at "the moment" of that stage.... The whole peloton knew that the race would break open at that particular moment, the press knew it, the fans knew it, and she decides to take a nature break at that particular moment without warning her own teammates...
Sorry but that's quite stupid, and I do expres myself in a very nice and polite way when I say that it was stupid.
yep but thats not her fault its the director who has to give the orders or her teanmates arent really teanmates
Without radio? Maybe with some supernatural mindhive connection? During these races, the main organiser is the designated lead or another rider as an appointed road captain.
Women’s cycling is hilarious😂
Remco has had what three years now..he still doesn't have a clue. He does know how to get angry though.
World champion, Double World TT champion, double Olympics champion, TdF podium....are we talking about the same Remco or your friend Remco The Clueless with whom you go on Sunday sportives?
@@tonyg3091 When he doesn't have a Radio you could have a point that Remco is not the greatest strategist. N'est pas?
@@johnpaton8047 Remind me, did he have a radio at the Olympics? Did he have a radio when he became World Champion?
I get the suspicion nobody likes Vollering, especially her Dutch teammates. Marianne Vos will only work for herself if she has a chance to win. Wonder what is being said on the radio from Dutch team director?
Remco's teammates actually listen to him but Remco doesn't know what to do even with an earpiece.
That’s the problem. No radio comms to follow. Lost without direction…
There is NO radio at World!
@@mracer8ah…. The point I made…
Even if you do not like Demi, it's still stupid to sacrifice the win for the team. Unless you think you can win yourself, you should still work for her wether you like her or not. You're a pro and paid to do so.
It’s possible that they don’t like her and at the same time it’s possible no one knows how to race tactically correct. 🤪🦋🔥💥🇳🇱
National teams are not teams. Each rider for herself.
These riders NEED to start watching Chris Horner’s videos 😅 #knuckleheads
True that 👊🦋
Tadej Pgacar clearly waited for Pavel Sivakov, who is a Russian that is only riding for France b/c Russia is not allowed to field a team in international competition due to sanctions.
You missed the part where I said Siv rides for UAE which was during T🦋E video already. 🤪🦋👊
"next Team UAE Tactician Tuesday meeting is going to be awfully awkward! "
I see no reason for this to be the case. The world is full of team sports - football, rugby, cricket to name but three - where it is not only normal, but expected, to put club loyalty aside when you play for your country. Indeed a footballer giving a club mate an easy ride would be looked upon in horror.
@@Paulfarr1964 A footballer behaving ethically? Hahahaha.

Wileless Wednesday
Tadej waited for Sivakov… if Sivakov had legs he would have a podium working with Tadej. His legs didn’t cooperate but I don’t see anything wrong with the tactic…
If you say it’s Tuesday, it’s Tuesday to me
😂👊👊🦋
I not inly blame the riders, Team Directors are also to blame. Honestly, at this point a well trained AI model could do a much better job!
Sorry Chris, but there's nothing you can do against a rider who pushes 50 more watts than everyone else in his weight category. He's unbeatable. If he keeps this form, he'll never lose a race again in the next 10 years.
