I was looking for the original by Jermaine Stewart and I spotted this. The original was sung in the 80's when AIDS was ravaging a lot of communities, and there was such a stigma around sex/sexuality. The singer passed away from HIV at a young age... So sad- he was such a star- such a light for the world. So glad this song is getting out there again! It's kind of joyous and playful.

MinxLaura123 yes in 1997 of AIDS, a month before Ellen came out and in a totally different time it feels. I was hoping this song would bring more attention to him. His grave wasn't marked for 17 years until I found it and brought attention to it. I got to bring his brother and friend to the grave to see the new stone last year. I made a RUclips documentary series called 'Jermaine Stewart Experience'. He really was a great artist and I just hope that one of these people covering him will just mention him already and that they will give his catalog a chance and do him justice. :)

The first time I heard this song, my girlfriend played it to me before we headed out to an LGBT Prom in August this year (2018). The second time she played it to me, we were in an apartment we were renting for holiday. She took my hand we slow danced to it in the living room with this song playing loudly. She held me tightly and I cried into her shoulder. I’ve never felt so loved in my whole life.
We’d both been badly mistreated by previous relationships, and this song means a lot to us both.
We’ve been friends for 9 years and in a relationship for 1. I look forward to our future where we can slow dance to this again, and one day when we can dance to it at our wedding.

Friday 18th September 2020 was our last day together before Gee leaves for university, which would be tomorrow. We’ve spent nearly all week together. We went to Thorpe Park on Wednesday, saw some of our best friends on Thursday and spent Friday together getting the last bits she needed to take with her. We’ve had a good cry and many hugs, but now she’s off on her way. She’ll be back in a month’s time. I miss her already. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ll get through this.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Both of us have really loved seeing all of your wonderful, kind and supportive messages. Please keep them up, we always love seeing them.
Okay so lots of you have requested an update, bless you all haha.
Gee’s recently returned to uni last weekend and she’s doing so well. She’s settled in well, made lots of lovely good friends. I’m really proud of her with all her hard work she’s put into her classes.
I’ve still been struggling with my mental health but I’m getting better. I’m getting some help for my anxiety and depression and Gee has been my rock and refuge in my times of distress. Lockdown is slowly being lifted, but I’m still struggling with how it’s affected my life.
Me and Gee are still going strong though, we’re still full of lots of love and we’ve always got each other’s backs.
I’ve not updated for a while as there’s not been much to write, but I always love coming back to see what you’ve said and to let you know how things are with us.

Hello darlings. I’m sorry I’ve not written anything for so long. I hope you’re all well!
Gee and I spent Christmas together, which was an absolute treat. She couldn’t stay for very long back home, as she needed to go back to university. She went back a couple of weeks ago and we won’t probably see each other until Easter. Gee’s got a week of exams this week, so she’s a busy bee.
I’m currently in the process of changing my name to Elias, so yeah that’s a thing.
I got a new job, I’m pleased to say. My mental heath is getting better too. Spent most of last year studying too, I hope one day to become a counsellor for LGBT+ youths.
I’ll try to remember to post another update again soon.

Hello everyone! I hope you all are well!
I think that it’s this is overdue an update.
I’ve successfully change my name legally now, which has made me feel much happier in myself and my identity.
Gee’s doing really well at university I’m very pleased to say. Always knew she could do amazingly and she is. She’s had her final exam for her second year and will be coming back to our home town for the summer in the next month or so.
I’ve been reading through the edits I’ve written and time has gone by so incredibly fast. I can’t believe I first wrote the original post back in 2018?? So much has happened since then, but our love only continues to grow.
I come back every now and then to read and re-read all of your lovely comments and I’m stunned at the positive and kind responses we’ve had, and we’re always so thankful for the love you’ve shown us. We feel very special. I feel sharing our love story with you all has been an honour. Myself and Gee have been making plans about her moving in with me when she graduates, which isn’t as far away as I once had felt.

I’m so sorry it’s taken so long to update, I would’ve done it sooner but the video kept crashing every time I went to the comments.
Me and Gee are still very much together I’m pleased to say!
Had a magical surprise last night. I’d come home from a long shift at work, went to crash in my room and my Dad called for me to come downstairs. I came into the living room, not entirely sure what was going on and there she was! Gee had come home and surprised me! She and I live across the country, it’s about a 6 hour drive between us and drove back to our home town to surprise me. I screamed for joy!

Wow, I had no idea it had been this long since I last updated this.
It’s been quite the year, that’s for sure.
We are still together and still very much in love, don’t you worry!
One majorly significant event this year was that Gee finally got to have the restorative and major spinal surgery she’d been needing for many years. Finally had it done a few months ago and it’s improved her quality of life tenfold. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but she’s recovered from it and continues to improve every day.
She’ll be coming back home this coming weekend for Christmas and I can’t wait to see her again. Gee’s nearing the end of her uni studies now and we’re talking about finding a place together when she graduates.
