The reason the reins broke in the first place was because he was balancing off of them, and then he grabbed the mane/neck because he couldn't balance off of the reins anymore 😂

I mean yeah we do hold some kind of support in the reins when going this fast usually but it's possible and i often do let the reins go now and then to check myself that i don't balance on them. I'm trying to imagine myself in that situation hahah and i think that i would probably stay on but like in the video loose a bit of balance for a bit and lean more forwards 😅 but u never know.. i'm gonna try it next time to just let the reins go when gallopping outside hahah will be a fun test! @@sara.asbb12
@s.saddleseat first of all I wouldn't be balancing on the reins so they wouldn't break in the first but anyway. I would pull the other rein around for a one rein stop or do an emergency dismount.
I think the only reason they do that (at least in racing) is because with the stirrups how they are it’s hard to tell your horse to go. In this video the stirrups are normal so they can tell the horses to go a lot easier. It’s still not good that they whip them as much as they do in racing though.

That's the opposite of how racehorses are trained. They're trained to go like stink as soon as a jockey takes up the contact in the rein. Once the jockey drops that contact, they're trained to slow down and even stopped. Race jockeys certainly wouldn't have said that. Perhaps regular equestrians might have, but no one from the racing industry

A properly fitted english saddle wont rub or damage when going fast? You can literally go full speed in a stubble field and it be fine (obviously depends on the ground conditions)
Exact proof that the people are holding the horse back,so when people have super tight reins and whip their horse because they “aren’t going fast enough” they just need to shut up because if they don’t know that they are pulling the horse back to slow it flown then they shouldn’t have the horse. This is a movie about her story, and this scene is mostly about her rider. He made a deal with the father of his love, so if he makes Kincsem loose, he will get the girl. Kincsem refused her rider, and won the race anyways, even with him dragging her down.

@@Ozzys.Oats.Olives.And.Pasta. true but the OTTB I ride got taught to keep running. The thoroughbred breed is bred for running. They would run until they drop dead no matter if you’re trying to stop. Only a really well restarted or trained raced/in racing will actually stop without giving a fuss.

I had an OTTB and when they race, the horse grabs the bit, leans into it, and runs. The trick to getting them to stop the behavior is to just let go of pressure, im pretty sure the horse would have tripped 😂
I'm guessing he was pulling on the reins hard enough for the horse to go slower so when they broke the friction or tugging stopped which made the horse go faster
And that’s most likely why normal reins aren’t used when racing. They have specific race reins, different from your standard reins or fancy reins (grips or handle pieces) you might have. Love seeing thoroughbreds move, you see the front half pulling and the back half pushing, interesting to watch.
This is what you call true horsemanship and a true team that horse didn't panic or nothing he stayed calm to protect his rider and did what he was born to do which is to run and he did it while protecting his rider that is true horsemanship❤🎉

My mom recently got hurt because a horse who’s reigns broke went crazy and rammed into a gate and he get hit her, the rider had no control over the horse and it’s odd the horse didn’t stop before the gate but he tried to jump it, she was knocked out cold for a little bit and 13 stitches above her right eyebrow…she’s doing okay now and she’s healing up fine. 👍👍👍
