Like them or not, Peugeot have nailed it when it comes to demonstrating a unique design philosophy and driving experience. They're like a French version of Audi but with added French quirkiness. In the age where car design has become universal, it's nice to see that Peugeot and PSA have embraced French design thinking. I wish more manufacturers would dare to make cars inspired by their country's unique design heritage and philosophies.
True, if this was an Audi everybody would be totally stunned and loving it. Unless the steering steel and mayble limited practicality it is a good step by Peugeot.
I don't care...like Audi as well, but I also like the other Germans...problem I have sometimes with this is that in reviews it is all about how it looks...instead of practicality ...just like in this Peugeot and especially the touch screens in the A6-A8...

Video with a new car is one thing, but reality of a couple of thousands real life Km's is another. I used to have Golf VI GTD and now we have a brand new well equipped Peugeot 308. The quality of interior was much better in the old Golf. Anytime I'm cleaning the carpets and plastic parts in 308, it very hard to get sand and dirt out of it. It was totally different level in the Golf. After a cleaning it looked and smelled like new. Also practical details were much better in the Golf. Peugeot has a this small steering wheel that blocks visibility of speedometer, windshield wipers has a stupid overlap, so there is always water in the driver's view, streaming down, radio is completely muted if distance sensors are triggered, a sharp edge on drivers doors is uncomfortable to touch and many more! Peugeot is a significantly cheaper car, but it's very noticeable. Our next car will again be a VW.
A lowered, even more stylish 3008! Great driving part from Thomas, and excellent entertaining commentary, as always. Don't worry about the strange camera sync, I got used to it pretty quick! Many thanks for all the work bringing us this professional Review.
Thanks gordon that helps!! U know i always want it perfect, must have been an unfortunate mishap in editing since the first front view clip is still sync :)
They're ''boring'' because you're used to seeing them. By they don't age - now pick a design that's ''brave and different'', you celebrate it for a month and after that you're getting eye cancer.
PSA is in the US again with a car sharing programm (free2move) in some US airports. They have an office at atlanta to prepare their return step by step in 2025 with new electric cars semi autonomous.
stephen10 I heard about that program but it appears to be a long way off before PSA start selling cars again here. I would love to drive the new 508 maybe when I’m next in Europe. I really think this car could be competitive in the US market.
I am French but I don’t drive french cars until my unfortunate Peugeot 407. After 2 Audi and 2 BMW (now a lovely F35) maybe this 508 will be my next car. I have to taste it.
Bought one, super in midnight blue with white leather seat 225 bph , the car is handling beautifull the only remark i got is , when driving fast 130km/h or more there is lots of wind noise from the windows
This 508 makes all current Audi lineup look lame by comparison. Stanced muscular yet lean and athletic looking and the interior are like an evolution of Citroen CX unique futuristic but works in its own way with couch like comfort seats.
Love the look of the back end. Minimalistic, stylish, but different. Especially like the contrast between the bright red LED brake lights and their dark housings.
Only the 1.5 BlueHDi has fake exhausts ;) And I'm 1m86 and put the steering wheel a lot lower naturally. Actually, I have issues with the steering wheel hiding the top of the speedometer in most cars xd
What a nice way of starting a Sunday by watching this review! Thomas, this is the icing on the cake, thank you for your great work! I do like this 508 :) Hope you can also show us the Peugeot e-tense at the Paris Auto Show (assuming you will go there). Cheers!

Such a simple and effective design with a very visually pleasing overall effect in sedan and SW wagon form. Same goes for the dash/cabin which just looks so special every time you sit and drive the car. Some not so good like the rear passenger space, few functionality issues with the info-screen and those fake exhaust. Top honest review there Thomas.
Cool car. Love bold french design. And I think I prefer black window frames over chrome. Chrome seems kind of stuffy and old fashioned to me. Also, it’s always special to see a sedan from a non-premium manufacturer now, because they seem to be so rare. I saw a Ford Mondeo the other day and I was like wow.
Not a Peugeot fan but 508 is really nice looking car. I like it a lot and I’m glad they made this model. We have seen way to many SUVs and CUVs last 4-5 years. Hopefully sedans are making a comeback. Only thing I’m not sure about is the steering wheel and i-Cockpit. It’s very limited the way you can place your steering wheel and can compromise your driving position. As a guy that likes a good driving position it’s a bit of a negative thing. Other than that I really like this new side of Peugeot and I like the throwback to the Peugeot 504 with the badge on the front. Another thing is here in Denmark we say kilometers per liter or Km/l so it’s more like mpg. It’s weird that a country next to Germany uses different way of measuring fuel consumption 😊 Great review as always Thomas.
Of course we’ll never see this in the US, but if we did it would be a very interesting near lux midsize alternative to the Camry and Accord, as well as the Mazda 6 and fellow Euro hatch Buick Regal.
Definitely a lot of inspiration from Audi, but this is probably the first time in my life I will say, that a Peugeot actually looks expensive and has quality.
Not much inspiration from Audi. If anything, some parts are BMW-inspired. 'Claws' in front and rear lights, and the edges of the bonnet that go above headlights, are actually clearly inspired by ford mustang.
Nowadays, PSA Peugeot Citroen products have a minimalistic dashboard approach with fewer buttons and that is a bad thing because if you want to control the air con you have to press the shortcut button and look at the touchscreen which is a dangerous situation.
Hey Thomas, good review as always, just have to add a little comment. I realize it's not the first time you talk bad about the Peugeot interior concept, specifically the steering wheel hight that blocks your view from the gages. I can not understand why you don't get that if it's in front of the gages and you can't see them just push the steering wheel down a little, you will see them then. The reason Peugeot made the steering wheel so small is exactly to see over it, and the taller you are the better. Nevertheless, despite the sound-image gap in the middle and this lack of understanding of how the steering wheel works, I liked the review as always. Keep on the good work, Cheers!
25:16 wooow, did you see that ? the cluster still displays 70km/h whereas the car is accelering to 100km/h. It's a big display lag we have here... Other thing about this car, the head space on the back seats is a very big big issue for tall people. In several countries in Europe, the previous generation of 508 is used as chauffeur car. So with a issue like that lot of chauffeurs (uber drivers, or taxi) will not buy this new generation of 508.
There was no lag. It was an editing issue. 22:19 Car starts, Thomas starts to accelerate from the junction. 22:31 The same from rear camera but the sound keeps going from the previous shot. Look at the rev counter - gearbox drops a gear at 25:26, that's where the actual aceleration starts. 10 seconds after you could hear it. That's where lag came from.
Yr review is as deep and perfect as always ..thank you very much ..but what i want to know , do you think this car chassis is as good as Audi A4 Or betted than Audi A4 as some generalists are saying in there’s review .thank you very much fr yr answer
Peugeot makes excellent cars and most people don't realize or know. I've driven a 2013 W204 C Class and a 2013 Peugeot 3008 2.0 diesel. The Peugeot actually has less wind noise than the Merc and actually less rattles.

Love myself some french cars. One thing I'd like to know though is what's the issue with the GPS? I think my Cactus has exactly the same one since PSA generally uses TomTom software in their setnavs. I really like it a lot, gives you a great overview, only thing that gets a bit confusing are some of the commands it gives you particulary when it tells you to "drive on the Autobahn" while you're already on it and just switching from A81 to A831 :P Then again it does give you a fair ammount of information on construction sides and traffic jams.
You know what would be cool. You show only the interior, exterior and sometimes open even bonnet, but I would like also to see what is under the car. Power trail etc. so would it be possible to lift all the cars you show up and you could walk through how the car looks like down under.
Or better yet if he could disassemble the whole car so we can see the inside of the engine block. That would be really cool. And also, to REALLY make this video to become one of a kind, he should set the car interior on fire, just so we can see if it's fire proof!!!
Actually that car is D Segment but my feeling is C Segment due to exterior style according to previous model looking small. D Segment customer wants to car, my opinion. You are best on RUclips friends go go go....
Hi Thomas! What is your opinion regarding the audio sound system of that car? Is it good enough for a normal use? (This unit does not have the opcional Focal audio sound system and I would like to know if the sound system of that unit sounds good enough) Thanks
i love the interior. if only it was a little less expensive. i think my '17 honda civic sedan is quite competitive tho. not missing a thing i see in the 508 for around 10k less
The French beat the Germans in design any day of the week and twice on Sundays. And with the ever improving reliability of Peugeot, while Benz, BMW and VW having turned their cars into endless money pits for the consumer, the next decade seems to belong to the French.
Great looking car. In England we have the 508 in a 1.2 petrol engine with automatic gearbox. Has anyone driven this? I know the 1.2 works well in the 3008 model, just not sure how it would be with the 508.

Actually that car is D Segment but my feeling is C Segment due to exterior style according to previous model looking small. D Segment customer wants to car, my opinion. You are best on RUclips friends go go go....
thanks mehmet !!
Beautiful car I remember back in the 80s when the 505 was available in the US, always looked great just wasn’t reliable…
I doubt the 505 wasn't reliable. Some are still driving them in Africa. What was the problem?
Which would you better on fuel economy 1.5 or 2 L diesel engine
Hahha That engine cover! They didn´t find a smaller one? It looks funny :P.
No logo on the cover. The manufacturer isn't proud oraz what?
Hi Thomas! What is your opinion regarding the audio sound system of that car? Is it good enough for a normal use? (This unit does not have the opcional Focal audio sound system and I would like to know if the sound system of that unit sounds good enough) Thanks
Ok but not sophisticated
In Portugal we call it "quinhentos e oito", so five hundred and 8. But we called the Nokia most famous phone "trinta e três dez" (33-10) 🤔
True
i love the interior. if only it was a little less expensive. i think my '17 honda civic sedan is quite competitive tho. not missing a thing i see in the 508 for around 10k less
If the 1.6 Turbo was available with a stick shift, it would serious fun to drive
Hey man, have u tested the standard soundsystem? If yes, how is it. I’m really into getting one but it don’t have the focal system :/
I recently had both in the 2008 as comparison: ruclips.net/video/Knx2v87WWjs/видео.html
Autogefühl and where exactly? I watched it 2 times now and can’t find it🤷🏻♂️😅
Why is the steering wheel out like that? 🤔
I used to own Peugeot 405s&406s Inc 2.1TD&2.0HDI both 110bhp.
No door handle test ? Thomas I am disappointed :D You always test the door opening and closing sound, to me that is 20% of the car right there.
The French beat the Germans in design any day of the week and twice on Sundays. And with the ever improving reliability of Peugeot, while Benz, BMW and VW having turned their cars into endless money pits for the consumer, the next decade seems to belong to the French.
the power trim is still a set back for Peugeot, need a better power set up for market out of Europe.
hardly see this car, does it sell?
Great looking car. In England we have the 508 in a 1.2 petrol engine with automatic gearbox. Has anyone driven this? I know the 1.2 works well in the 3008 model, just not sure how it would be with the 508.
well done Peugeot
It's a bit cramped
Is this car a reworked Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, Buick Regal, Holden Commodore with a french twist?
No, own PSA platform, and Opel vehicles will follow that one
Thomas, how good is sound insulation on the autobahn? at high speed?
covered in the review !
finally, a non-German car
So... Finally the best car ! :)
Thanks God, that´s not a German car.
Finally, also, a non-German looking car.
Finally, not a German tank !
