Hi Rain. The Sony headphone app stores the settings which is usually part of the operating system's back up. They do have an analog input and come with the cable. You could connect that to your PC headphone jack and enjoy music that way. If you want to just use the noise cancelling for relaxing, you will need to connect that analog cable, otherwise they will hunt for a bluetooth connection and shut down in about 5 minutes. You will hear a tiny bit of white noise in the background when using them this way. We hope this helps and thanks for watching

Hi Garry. The Sony WH-1000XM4 comes with a short USB Type-A to USB-C charging cable that will let you charge the headphone from a laptop's USB port. So, any standard smartphone charger with a USB-A port that connects with the included cable will charge the XM4's sufficiently. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
The Sony XM4's USB-C port only supports charging. However, the XM4s do have an input that will accept a 3.5mm stereo miniplug cable, and they also come with this headphone cable in the box. So, this will work great for zoom meetings. But, if you are shopping for a noise canceling headphone with a USB-C port capable of both charging the headphones and passing hi-res audio through the wired connection for zoom meetings and music, then the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 and the new Mark Levinson № 5909 are excellent options. It’s important to note, Mark Levinson and B&W are the few who make the USB-C port capable of both charging and passing hi-res audio through their wired USB-C connections. Since many people will be using these on the go with their phone or a laptop that no longer includes a 3.5mm jack, we see the USB-C audio cable as an added convenience for those wanting the best audio quality from their laptops. You can watch our other videos on these headphones here: B&W PX7 - audioadvice.io/px7carbon and the Mark Levinson № 5909 - audioadvice.io/MLNo5909 We hope these resources help and thanks for watching.

Hi. wanted to know a little more about how speak to chat works in a audio/video call. does it also unmute the microphone allowing you to speak and then mute it once you are done talking?
Hi! Speak to Chat is a really helpful feature for music listening. Being designed specifically for music listening, it may not work as well for you during video calls since it will pause/mute the audio when you begin speaking. For this application, it would probably work better for you either temporarily disable speak to chat or change it to manual in the Sony app settings. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
Absolutely. This is done manually using a button to toggle it on/off as needed. But you can also set this to be automatic based on Location or even Behavior-based. If you go to our full-written version of the tips & tricks guide, we provide the steps there: www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/sony-wh1000xm4-tips-and-tricks/

Thanks for reaching out! We're sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues with your model. We didn't experience any connection issues when testing ours with Apple iPhones, Android-based smartphones, and our laptops, but if you are experiencing slower setup connections with new devices, then there may be too many devices configured, or there might be a Bluetooth issue with one of the devices - If you purchased your Sony WH-1000XM4 from us, please reach out to us in chat at audioadvice.io/aa-chat so we can help you troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing. HI Raphael. We cover this more clearly if you skip ahead in the video to about 2:07. Essentially you double tap the right ear cup to pause the music. Thanks for watching!
Great question! The headphones do support Multipoint Connectivity which means you can connect two devices over Bluetooth at once. With this, you can automatically pause the music playing on your laptop and switch to an incoming call on your phone without removing your headphones or fumbling with Bluetooth settings. When you end the call, the music on your laptop will resume. This works with other devices too, so you can Bluetooth with your TV, switch to your phone, and then back to your TV again, automatically. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
Thanks! I got the WF-1000XM4 awhile ago to use with my Android phone/travelling. I decided to get the WH-1000XM4 for hm laptop(pc) few days ago. I couldn't find anywhere to get the features which the Sony Connect App has for for my Android phone. Is there a way which I can use those features(fr Sonny Connect App) for my WH-1000XM4 on my laptop? Thank you!
Serious question. I just got my Sony xm4 When sitting next to a fan and using noise cancellation and calling i get wind noise which doesn't happen when noise cancellation is disabled and it's like I'm hearing my surroundings through my mic. When calling i get a lot of noise from outside like if i can hear the wind noise from the mic which doesn't happen when I'm not calling. I can hear my voice like a double voice when i activate inbuilt Alexa. Is this happening with you too? Should I replace my headphones as i have 6 days left to do it.
The USB cable provided Is really short and uncomfortable to charge it It's safe to charge the headphones with a iPhone charger and iPhone cable 5v or what charger should be properly to charge it? I tried to charge it with a fast charger 18v from apple, and the headphones get a little warm, i unplugged right away.
I suggest getting an Anker fast charger 20w. It has “active shield” so your phone or headphones don’t get to hot bc of the higher wattage. I use this for my iPhone 12 and XM4’s. Seems to do the trick👍
I have this device and it is paired to my android phone . While I get the incoming music from the phone and apply noise cancellation on headphone, the cancellation and incoming music turns off after sometime and I have to press power button again on the headphone to get the device operational. Any ideas how to address this please?
Something is wrong, the Sony's should not do that, they will normally turn on and work for in noise cancelling mode only for about 10 minutes without being paired. But you have to be paired to play music, unless you are using wired. We suggest you contact the dealer you purchased them from.
I just got the XM4's and I'm trying to figure out how to get the most from them. But more importantly, when I came to this video, unfortunately 3-years old so you may never see this, you have The Nylons jacket on the wall. Loved them. Good taste. Thumbs up for that alone. The video was good too, but the album cover is more important.
I just got this model. Great sound quality but the touch operation jazz is driving me crazy by swiping form 2 to 3 times until it does what it supposed to do. I am starting to wonder if mine just happened to be faulty...
Just a quick question. My power button is harder to press than the custom button, and also doesn’t do a click sound. Is this an intentional design choice, or is mine faulty?
I found these subpar, and returned them after 18 hours. Major problems: the noise cancellation pauses at random. Not as the results of speaking or any other sound that may trigger the SPEAK-TO-CHAT, but the problem seems to be correlated with picking up the device that's playing the tracks, and or using the Next Track function on the playing device. I didn't have time to test it - that was Sony's job. The "buttons". The buttons to activate functions like Next/Previous Track, Volume Up/Down, etc, are simply touch pads on the right earpiece. The problem is there's no map on the earpiece indicating where the "touch" zone might be for any particular function, so one ends up hunting around with one's finger. This results in erroneous commands such as Next Track, when one actually meant Volume Up, or Pause, for example. Simply embossing something small onto the zones where the controls are (little dots, for example) would give one's fingers something to map the individual functions by.
I went for the Harman curve eq and they sound so much better and not as bright and front feeling as other popular equalizer settings. Try it and compare! 0, 4, 6, 2, 0 clear bass - 1/0 Also make sure LDAC audio codec is on for better sound. Enable phones developer tools by pressing 7 times on build number setting.
I can hear my fan noise. Sure it's reduced but I can still hear it. Can also hear my tv sound which is like 10 steps away from me. Can hear people talking. All this without any music playing. Is this how the noise cancelling works? Cuz I'm new to this whole noise cancelling thing. Xm4s are my first
@@akashanand2944 No, I think it should cancel more noise. Maybe look around in the app settings or maybe you didn't turn the noise cancelling correctly.
@@educatin7559 I did turn the noise cancelling all the way up. Probably my ears are a bit sharp. Asked my friend who owns xm3 and he says it's pretty much similar to his xm3s. So yeah I think it's good enough.👍

Hello, I have a question, is it normal that the power button feels more difficult to press than the custom button? I bought it recently and I don't know if that is a factory error or not.

@@AudioAdvice some people on Reddit have complained about lag watching movies/TV with the XM4s. Can you check this for me it’s something got to do with the headphones not having aptx and having LDAC instead?
@@stepsfan4life739 Greetings! We have not received reports of lag when using the Sony WH-1000XM4 with TVs, specifically. It is possible LDAC works best with TVs that are made by Sony. Thank you so much for watching.
Can I use the headphone via the headphone jack anytime i want? (Even without charging it?)
Great question. Yes it can be used that way. The noise cancelling does need a charge though. Thanks for watching
How do you pause the music?
HI Raphael. We cover this more clearly if you skip ahead in the video to about 2:07. Essentially you double tap the right ear cup to pause the music. Thanks for watching!
Useful content thank you ! It feels weird when I take calls and I can’t hear myself? What do I do to hear my natural voice 😃
I want to know if I connect this headphones to my tv or xbox and my phone and listen both sources at the same time +use the mic
Hey Audio Advice! I just want to ask one thing... How can I active the NC without playing music?
Turn them on and activate nc
mine always start in nc on default
How do you go to the dash board
You have to download the app. Scan the QR code on the box if you still have it. If not I'm sure you can search for it in your app store.
since i took mine out the box i feel like the audio quality hasnt been what i expected. it sounds like one side is louder as well
Thank you!
electronics.sony.com/headphones-connect-app Yes
Serious question. I just got my Sony xm4
When sitting next to a fan and using noise cancellation and calling i get wind noise which doesn't happen when noise cancellation is disabled and it's like I'm hearing my surroundings through my mic.
Being near a fan will cause a noise in the headphones. We have not tried Alexa on them, but that sounds odd
The USB cable provided Is really short and uncomfortable to charge it
It's safe to charge the headphones with a iPhone charger and iPhone cable 5v or what charger should be properly to charge it?
I tried to charge it with a fast charger 18v from apple, and the headphones get a little warm, i unplugged right away.
I suggest getting an Anker fast charger 20w. It has “active shield” so your phone or headphones don’t get to hot bc of the higher wattage. I use this for my iPhone 12 and XM4’s. Seems to do the trick👍
Thank you, I just got my xm4, yeahhhh🎉❤
Glad you like them
I just noticed that i cannot change the volume using the touch control when no music or video is playing. Is this normal?
Sorry, we have never tried that, Nothing in the manual talks about it.
Is there an app for a laptop Windows 10?
Not that we know of. Thanks for watching
bro, what do you shave those whiskers with.....a Ginsu?
I have this device and it is paired to my android phone .
While I get the incoming music from the phone and apply noise cancellation on headphone, the cancellation and incoming music turns off after sometime and I have to press power button again on the headphone to get the device operational.
Any ideas how to address this please?
Something is wrong, the Sony's should not do that, they will normally turn on and work for in noise cancelling mode only for about 10 minutes without being paired. But you have to be paired to play music, unless you are using wired. We suggest you contact the dealer you purchased them from.
Useful, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
It keeps stopping when I talk. How do I disable this
Turn off speak to chat in the sony headphones app
You could turn it if from your app or use two fingers and hold the right side of the headphones for like 5 sec
Battery not charging..how could i contact them

I just got this model. Great sound quality but the touch operation jazz is driving me crazy by swiping form 2 to 3 times until it does what it supposed to do. I am starting to wonder if mine just happened to be faulty...
you could reach out to the dealer you purchased them from to try another pair
Wow - good stuff!! Subscribed and a way thumbs up - great job. Hope to see more ...
Awesome, thank you!
Just a quick question. My power button is harder to press than the custom button, and also doesn’t do a click sound. Is this an intentional design choice, or is mine faulty?
Just tested a XM3 we had around, it felt the same as the other buttons. Sorry, we don't have a pair of the XM4 at the moment.
@@AudioAdvice
Thanks anyway. I asked around and it’s definitely faulty, so I returned it.
Thanks for your feedback
I went for the Harman curve eq and they sound so much better and not as bright and front feeling as other popular equalizer settings. Try it and compare! 0, 4, 6, 2, 0 clear bass - 1/0
Also make sure LDAC audio codec is on for better sound. Enable phones developer tools by pressing 7 times on build number setting.
The Harman curve is very well done, we use their one for home theater in our reference theater. Thanks for sharing
hey audio advice! so how do i know if the noise cancellation is actually working??? i just got the xm4.
You hear less noise?
You hear less?
Bro these are so helpful thank you!!
Happy to help!
I was trying to connect it with Sony 8200E Android tv, It is not getting connected. Could you pls create a video on that
Why doesn’t fast forward and rewind work on an iPhone? I’m paired to Bluetooth only on this iPhone. I’ve tried with a few music services and it never works. I’ve been trying to find this answer, but haven’t come across it yet.

Hello, I have a question, is it normal that the power button feels more difficult to press than the custom button? I bought it recently and I don't know if that is a factory error or not.
It takes a few seconds of holding for the power button to turn them on/off so you accidently do not do it. Thanks for watching
Just brought some can the headphones be turned up anymore do you know sounds bit low
I’ve got that same problem. Are you using an Apple product? I think these work better and sound louder on Android. I’m going to return these and unfortunately pay the high price for the Airpods Max. These were a disappointment 😞
@@JohnCarlC no s10 plus
they stop my video every time i speak which means i cant sing along to a song! trying to figure out how to disable??
Can I connect to older Bravia tv without Bluetooth, bought a receiver online?
You would need a Bluetooth transmitter
I wonder why this information isn't in the manual when you get the headphones ... so thank you!
Glad we could be helpful for you
How to answer calls?
You double tap the ear cup
@@AudioAdvicehmmmm try several times and doesnt work on my iphone ;) other sony stuff work like U said . Double tap. I check it :)
Hi audio advice are these good headphones to watch tv shows and movies without disturbing my family thanks.
Yes, they work great in that situation, just make sure your TV is able to pair with Bluetooth headphones. Thanks for watching
However, the lag could also be a limitation or a compatibility issue between different Bluetooth standards with certain TVs. We agree this would need further troubleshooting and working with the TV manufacture to troubleshoot. If you come have a chat with us at AudioAdvice.com, one of our headphone and TV experts will help you determine if the Sony WH-1000XM4 is the right headphone for your particular use case scenario and your TV. If there is a better option available, our chat experts can also help you find the right headphone for your situation.
How do I make it so my headphones don't just focus on the call, and focus on the game volume too?
So if I'm playing a game and I call someone, I can hear the game volume as well as the call.
love ur haircut
Haven't use my one in a while and I pull it out to use charge it, and press the power button and still doesn't work. I wonder why?
Try giving them a full charge. Thanks for watching
