I read an article about Myléne Farmer where the journalist wrote she always heard of Farmer called "The French Madonna".
But after learning exactly of the scope of her fame in French speaking countries she came to the conclusion that it would be more fair to call Madonna the American Myléne Farmer.
is he a french speaking journalist?
@@legitor513 I believe she was British.
In fact Madonna is a fan of her work and definitely took some inspiration of her 😀
@@Lofote I believe so too. This was just a journalist writing something witty after all.
I love them both.
Even some french journalist called her like this. This is how I like to portray her when I talk about her with someone that is not french speaking. "It's like the french version of Madonna but with a darker universe, a lot more poetry And the music vidéo level of Michael Jackson in the 80s
Very good choice, Derek ! Live from her first tour ! And among the singers, the late Carole Fredericks!
Thanks Dereck for reacting on Mylène so often ! This live is the first and almost my favorite on. Thanks. Kiss kiss
When I was recommending you react to it... Glad you've gotten around to doing it al last. Well done. Take care and keep up the good work.
I don't think it's the video you're thinking of... it's the very elaborate one (sequel to Libertine) where she was injured, captured by the British army, and had a love/hate relationship with her captor. And she fought with her rival Sophie Tellier again (who is one of the backup dancers here, although you can't really see her)!
No this is not The final song. The final song is « je voudrais tant que tu comprennes «
You have to mix the songs and clips over time... 😂The official music video for "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces" is "Libertine II" (The sequel to "Libertine" therefore, which lasts 17min., with the rival (Sophie Tellier) who is finally killed at the end of the story) and you liked the music and the clip. There was even the dancing banana. The version of the clip and the version of live 89 are almost identical.
And a pity not to have left the video until the end. There were just a few seconds left. The rise in power of the voices of Carole Fredericks and Becky Bell on the very last note is chilling.
In fact I was a bit disappointed by his reaction here. He should have checked if it is the video he meant, and he should have watched it to the end.
Not good work for once, all the other times he does great job, maybe he was just tired or something this time ;)

Yes, I thought I saw a bit of work on the shoulder too, but you can't be on top every time. We all have our "bloody Lundis"...
But I agree; this way to skip the end of the video and... Next! It's disappointing...
Iam so in love with her
You should rename the channel to: dereck reacts french! :-)
It wasn't the last song before the encore, just the middle of the concert. Mylène had to change her costume.
It's the "club remix version" but also the version that you heard in the music video.

Ce live est dingue 💝
Dereck, it seems that you re not a youtube premium member 8:32 😉
You're totally confused about the original music video. You got it mixed up with another one, obviously.
As for the record scratching sounds, they come from the 1988 extended remix by Thierry Rogen. They're not on the studio album version but they were incorporated in the radio single edit version.
Too bad you forwarded the end of the video that wasn't very respectful for the live musicians and live backing vocals. What a shame !
I was a little bit shocked. Carole killed it at the end....
That's exactly the reason why I wish Dereck hadn't forwarded the end and skipped Carol Fredericks's best vocals.
J'y étais ! 💘
Merci pour cette vidéo. 🥰
The '99 medley was SO GOOD. Extremely sexxxxxy. You should check it out even though you've already don't two versions of the song. :)
Mylène toujours au top! 😍🥰❤
Hey dereck !!there are many other songs that you never heard of that would be worth checking out !
« Sleeping away « with Moby
« LEILA «
« L’âme dans l’eau «
« Redonne -moi «
« Ave Maria « ….
i would have liked you to react to it !!
Thanks for your job !💙
Again those old stuff ? Dereck there’s many new Mylenes you haven’t react :)
There are many who would be shocked if they understand the lyrics and the meaning of the music the clip can also shock some people 😂
Just talking about sodomy. That’s very Mylène, innit?
This version is the version of the maxi single. The single is different from the LP
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Aragon et Castille - Boby Lapointe
You should react to the best version that Stade de France 2009!
please dereck "Droit dans le soleil" from french band "Détroit"
You must react to the medley from 1999 !!!!! :D
If you want to compare, you can watch the live version of 2009 :
ruclips.net/video/3YPUrl3qEIY/видео.html
I think you will like the bridge ^^
Yes, that concert is legendary. Everything about it is sensational.
About the music video... too many nude chicks in it ? :D
Oh and... do you know what the song is about?
Version 99 medley ….
Une chanson que tu n’as jamais analysée « je te rends ton amour »
yes the fake buttom lol live 99 "medley"
Regarde le clip vidéo ⛋ mieux
Cela parle de sodomie...
Quand je te vois sur ta réaction et bien je pense .....lol
Merci Mylène farmer et à toi aussi beau mec lol
Qu'il soit doux.....
Bisous ....
Pauvre Mylène ! Toute seule , abandonnée. La vie est plus dure à 60 ans qu'à 30.
Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Mylène Farmer. Now, you know very well this song! ^^ You almost reacted on all live versions. 😄
This track "Pourvu Qu'elles Soient Douces" (As Long As They Are Sweet) is in the tracklisting of the live album of the tour, "En Concert", released on December 04, 1989 (Double CD'S, cassette and 2 LP'S) as well as in the film of the concert directed by Laurent Boutonnat and available on VHS and Laser Disc on November 05, 1990.
Mylène performed this title (for the first time!) on all the dates of the 1989 tour from May 11 to December 08, 1989.
If you heard for this LIVE, Mylène was in Brussels in Belgium during the recording of the concert.
The version of the clip you heard was the "Remix Club" (12" Extended) directed by Thierry Rogen (sound engineer who first worked on Tristana in 1987 for the Remix Club with Mylène and Laurent for the first time) who had Mylène re-record the vocals and then brings in a DJ for the "scratches" which are also present on the "single version" itself slightly remixed and shorter than the album version (version that you did not take on Spotify, you have the album version, less good! You should change!) for 45RPM, MAXI 45RPM and CD Maxi 3 tracks release.
When you talk about the DJ Paul Oakenfeld, it has nothing to do with the version of the clip or the single of the time (1988), he just worked on the remix of this song for the album "RemixeS" released in 2003, containing some of her hits from the 80's to 2002 (C'Est Une Belle Journée) remixed by several DJ'S and from which 3 singles came out: Sans Contrefaçon (J.C.A Remix), Je T'Aime Mélancolie (Felix da Housecat Remix) and L'Instant X (The X key mix by One-T).
If for you the videoclip seemed strange to you, it was simply the sequel to Libertine when she was shot right next to her lover then discovered inanimate by English soldiers who had come to fight with the Prussian army, action supposed to take place on August 18, 1757.
If you like the 80's sound (just like me! 😉) of this 1989 concert, I recommend the songs "Sans Logique" and "A Quoi Je Sers...", for me the best tracks and of course quite similar to the single versions, normal , they came out the same year!
Thanks for your amazing work our Frenchie American dude. 👍🇫🇷
