It's funny how much the narrative has flipped on Space Marine 2, everyone was calling it a Helldivers killer but that couldn't be further from the truth just for how undercooked the whole experience is. Don't get me wrong, Space Marine 2 was really fun and I'm digging the pvp at the moment but it doesn't have that spark and charm that Helldivers 2 has, it just doesn't. space marine 2 is so different from helldivers 2. space marine 2 has no emergent gameplay, very on rails and all the sequences are scripted. theres less freedom and tons of “stand in this area and shoot bugs crawling up this pre-determined spot for 2 minutes then go to an elevator”, the quicktime events are so annoying. i feel like im constantly stuck in an animation.

This was very well laid out, thanks for the video. I tried conveying a similar message to friends of mine but a lot of the "SM2 killed Helldivers" argument comes from people who were already ready to jump ship onto another game due to the changes HD2 made. They're both great games, and they attack the same concept with different angles of approach. They're incredibly similar but when you really dig into the games, there's enough that sets them apart to where you can enjoy both without feeling like you're playing the same game. I think SM2 will be a good break from HD2 while devs roll out these changes to win back the players, and I think it'll be good to see the HD2 community return when they need a break from SM2.
Thanks for the kind words! Most of the comments here are “no are you dumb Helldivers 2 killed itself!!” Proving that most people didn’t watch the video, just saw the title and commented. Thanks for taking the time to watch and let me know your thoughts 💙
