My daughter lives a block away from this house. there's a plack in the sidewalk in front of the house that commemorates this house as the house jimmy capps grew up in. I got to walk over and pay my respects last time I was in Benson. Really cool experience!
I just spent an hour with a few tears in my eyes. This amazing human being and extraordinary musician will be so missed. Prayers for Michele. And Chris & Taylor Malpass - you could see how much Jimmy loved you guys. He's passed the pick to you now. Keep that music alive.
I was so sad to learn that Jimmy Capps passed away. While I’m not all that familiar with country music performers, on the Country Road TV show, Jimmy was an immediate stand-out. What a wonderful guitar player. May Jimmy rest in peace.
I have never heard of him yet I know I’ve probably seen/heard him thousands of times! I grew up on country music in ‘60’s starting with Porter Waggoner as a young child. It’s always the guys in front who got the adulation but I guess the session guys made it all happen. I was always fascinated with the session players, their talent was off the chart. I did evolve to Bluegrass too which I love. Jimmy is going to be fun to research and explore the gifts God gave him. It was so cool that he followed his passion decades ago, long before it was vogue. What an amazing man and beautiful soul. Jimmy and Harold Reid will add a lot to God’s choir!!
Jimmy Capps, your one reason I WATCHED Larry's Country Diner and Family Reunion.Oh Lord your going to be missed. But I'm right behind you,I'm almost 80yr.There will be a great band in heaven.I can't hardly wait to join all of you and my family and loved ones some sweet day..God Bless your wife ,Michelle and family and Friends.Chris and Taylor Malpass Bros.keep that good ole time country music alive. My love goes out t Larry Black and Bill Anderson and all of the good people on both shows,I LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.REST IN PEACE JIMMY CAPPS.LOVE YA ALL
Ms. Michelle. My deepest condolences in the loss of Mr. Capps. I will miss him forever in all the sessions he's supposed to be in. God bless you and yours.
R.I.P. Jimmy Capps watched you for years and so appreciated watching and listening to you! Your body is gone but your art remains thanks for all the beautiful guitar licks!!!
There is no telling how many sessions he played on in Nashville. I did see him play in studio once, though I didn’t get to meet him. He was a much loved by all.
I always loved hearing him ....No flash or garbage trying to impress...he just played tasty true to the song and complimenting the singer and other artists....He was indeed amazing. I have had a band over fifty years and never had anyone who even came close to him. Rest in peace
That was Beautiful, God Love You Mr. Jimmy Capps , & Thank You Sir for taking me back in time to when life was just plane better, I'm 68 & my mom told me to play more like Chet Attkins .. I was 12 yrs then , I still play rythem ,, Thank you all .....
Thanks Jimmy, your contribution to country music was outstanding, you are as big of star as all those artists singing the songs you played in the back, well done sir, great life!
Town of Benson you all were really blessed to have Jimmy capps I really lov Jimmy capps playing he was the 👌 image played and sing 4 many years ❤ sing gospel and write gospel songs 🎵 ❤ I am James from Duncan oklahoma ❤ ♥ 🙏 💖 😊
So glad to see this video. Have been a Capps fan since the early fifties. He had the magic touch it took to make a song sound right and sell records. Thanks so much town of Benson, NC. May Jimmy liven up the Heavenly band.
Thank you Town of Benson. Your timing for the interview was flawless. I think there are two people that can silence every harp in heaven, both by the simple expedient of touching a guitar. This video was explicitly about one of them, and the other one was honored with the mention of his name a few times in the video (Chet Atkins).
Super Grit Cowboy Band?! I’m 65 now- I remember seeing this band all over NC when I was in high school ! I did not expect to hear that name on this video- good times!
Heavens what a treasure to witness, absorb, and enjoy. Truly joyous hear the the lovely words of the journeys. Thank you so very much. Special seems a little timid for these stories and those recalling them so truthfully. Again, thanks.
I love the FAMILY REUNION and LARRY'S COUNTRY DINER shows and have always admired Jimmy's work on them. I play a little guitar myself and so appreciate his style. It is just plain picking done extremely well. Not a showoff at all. And his style can fit in with any performer. It was fun to hear him talk on this video, since I can't remember a word he said on either of these shows. And I got a kick on his Sheriff persona. It appeared to me that his wife was very protective of him, probably bought him some extra years of playing for us. It is sad to see him, Chet, Jerry, Paul and others of the classical period of great players passing away. But, thankfully he and they have inspired newer players to carry on the traditions that they supported with their work. Probably the best honor of all.
Like some many things, people or places, they just don't make them like Jimmy Capps anymore... Are there folks playing music? Yes. Are there great musicians coming up and along like him? No! North Carolina proud and hard work!
Watch you on R, F, T, Family Reunion and Larry s country diner , You will be sadly missed, You go rest high in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ, God Bless the family he was a great man, God Bless you all, you are in our Thoughts and Prayers,
it appears he has a strap mark on along his cheek that maybe he used a cpap machine (at night) which helps you keep breathing in your sleep. my hubby has one but its more updated now with no strap marks. love the old music for sure.
I was born and raised in Nashville Tennessee and far as I’m concerned, the sheriff was the greatest guitar picker Nashville has ever seen
I simply admired Jimmy Capps and his awesome guitar playing!❤
Jimmy Capps a legend in Country Music and a Gentleman as well
How I wish we could all grow up in a small town. Thank you, Mr, Capp, for sharing your talent and kind spirit with us. RIP.
Merci, Benson for putting this out.

Funny and odd. I never considered girls on my trek with music and/or pedal steel. I loved music and pedal steel. Pedal steel was and still is my love.
